Love them Belgians--HD600s for $177
BEST headphones, if used in a quiet room & w/ good equipmntHowever, be warned that these aren't the kind of toy headphones most people are used to. They need to be driven by somewhat powerful equipment - many portable audio devices aren't up to the task (which will result in low peak volume). They don't provide any substantial noise isolation, and should be used in a quiet room. They can be easily heard by those around you. They won't stand up very well to being tossed around and dropped. And they will only sound as good as what you plug them into.
The HD-600's are designed for one thing: uncompromising reproduction of sound. Therefore, be sure to consider whether they are a good fit for your needs, before spending so much.
Anyhow, I might add that there's no way many apartment dwellers could enjoy such exquisite sound, without them. Oh, and they're also the most comfortable pair of headphones I've ever used.

Not That GoodDon't believe everything you read, try them first. These earbuds are okay, but not of the quality I was hoping for.
Exceptional Quality!!!One word of caution, never walk through a metal detector listening to these (the ones you find like at Circuit City). It cost me about 4 pairs over the years.

Noise cancelling mic, not speakers! The microphone seems very solid and well constructed, as does the whole headset. The microphone's audio quality on TeamSpeak so far as I've heard from my friends hearing me, leaves nothing to be desired. The microphone has a wide swing range so that you can swing it out of the way completely or position it in ideal relationship to your mouth.
At first when I bought these headphones they hurt my left ear quite a bit after about an hour of wearing them. After poking at the headphones a little bit I noticed that the left earpiece wasn't swivelling like the right earpiece. This was causing the headphone to press my ear back to my head, as the headphones have quite a snug fit. After some very strong "wiggling" on the left earpiece I heard a "snap" and the earpiece began to move freely (like the right.) Annoying that I had to do this, but the headphones no longer hurt my ear and really are quite comfortable (the most comfortable mid-size headphones I've owned.) So I'm happy!
Amazon's labelling of this product is a little misleading. It is not the headset that is noise cancelling, but the microphone. The headset is just a normal binaural headset. However, the noise cancelling microphone will be much appreciated by your TeamSpeak / VOIP friends!
The only gripe I have about this headset is that the inline volume control seems to dim the volume more out of the left ear than the right. This is a *slight* difference and only the most sensitive ears can hear it, but it is definitely there. For me, this makes the inline volume control only really useful for lowering the volume so that I can hear things going on around me. This is nice at work, where I have to talk to cooworkers throughout the day. In my opinion a headset in this price range should really have the impedence on inline volume figured out perfectly, but hey -- you can't have everything, especially not at this price!
That said, the inline mic mute works like a charm ;-)
Overall I am very satisfied with the PC150.
Best headset aroundThe headphones sound very good, the sound is a tad off perfect, but most people won't hear any difference between these and $1000+ studio speakers. The bass is low, deep and energetic, the highs are sharp, crisp and very detectable, the midtones are almost identical to the real sounds.
The noise-cancelling mic is very good, my online buddies in Unreal Tournament 2004 kept saying how well I sounded over voice chat, my voice was like in real life, crystal clear and no ambient noise at all. Great!
Ergonomics are very well done, the headset doesn't bother you, even when playing for a few hours. The long cable is a great idea, it's so refreshing to be able to stand up and grab something three feet away from your seat and not feel your headset cable pull you back like a dog leash. The clip-on volume control/mic mute is also a very smart addition.
These headphones aren't cheap, but well worth the price. This is a great headset for serious gamers, the only (very minor) issue that I can see as negative is the fact the headphones don't cancel noise, so if you turn up the volume above 80% (abnormal level) others can hear the sound coming out of them.
PC150 is the only way to go for serious gamers looking for a high-fidelity headset.

Excellent Small HeadphonesOn the plus side: Excellent range and dynamics, fast, accurate highs, and deep bass. In passages where the bass is very low, I can really feel the bass in the temples, which is surprising given the smallness of these phones. They fold down very small, and come with a nice hard plastic case, which protects them as I carry them to and from work in my soft briefcase. The case is a little smaller than a paperback book. These phones have also allowed me to hear parts of music that I have only been able to hear using my Sennheiser HD-500A (Circumaural, Open back, with a dynamic range of 50-32Khz) headphones.
On the minus side: The cord is relatively short, and several times I have accidentally turned my chair and unplugged the cord from my CD player while working at my desk. The headphones DO need a break-in period, and the bass will become deeper after some hours of playing.
One other important note: although these are not noise cancellation headphones, they do block out a lot of the exterior sound. They block more sound than any other other compact headphones I have listened to, and are closer to a closed back headphone in sound blockage than an open back headphone. They block more outside sound than my Sennheiser HD-500A full size open back phones.
Summation: For $50, you are probably not going to find a better sounding pair of compact headphones. If the cord were longer, I would rate these 5 out of 5.
Perfect headphonesI was a little worried that the small cups would limit sounds or not provide a closed headphone environment, but the PX200s didn't let me down. You do have to remember to wear them low on the ears. Very comfortable--a slight pinch on my big head after a while, but not bad at all. They block enough of the little distracting sounds, and I can turn my music up to levels that would destroy my hearing and my roommate still can't hear a thing.
I am listening through them while I type this. I am not sure if "breaking in" headphones is myth or not; however, the bass seems to sound even better than last week. Before the Sennheisers, I was using $40 sony headphones purchased from a local retailer, and I will never go back, nor let anyone I know get anything but Sennheisers. Try them and you'll be hooked.
a competent pair of phonesFor closed headphones they're pretty good, and I like closed headphones when I'm on the go because others wont bother me and I won't bother them. Otherwise open headphones (like the PX100 for example being a similar model) will generally sound better. Don't expect these to match fancier headphones like the HD580 or better from Sennheiser (or my Grado SR325s) but they are fairly good and if you expect no more than a nice pair of portable headphones with decent sound, they aren't likely to disappoint you.

Not worth the priceBut I thought this was due to normal wear and tear so i brought a newer model from sony recently. the same time happened but this time the right one was ok. And this is only like in 6 months.
I suggest thinking carefully if buying similar types of ear phones. not just sony but other brands too.
Great HeadphonesThere are two cons that make me remove a star. One is that the cord is far too long. It gets tangled very easliy, so beware. The other problem is that the spring mechanism breaks (or so I've heard).
For those of you who cannot get them to fit well, here's how to do it. Open up the little black ear mechanism and put as much of it behind your ear as possible. Then, just twist the actual speaker up to its normal position. This way, they will fit perfectly.
So, for those of you who want some really good headphones, I strongly reccomend these.
Great headphones -- after you make them fit!The problem I had was that the clip itself is molded so that only the lower edge touches the back of your ear. In my case, this dug into my ear and left them red and sore after a few hours. The solution is to heat up the front part of the clip with a candle, and twist the clip so that it lays flatter against the inside of the ear. They don't hold quite as well this way, but they feel so light and pinch so much less you hardly notice you are wearing them. Once modified, these have proven to be great headphones!

practical but not durableNonetheless, after only 5 months, they were broken. This was not because of the collapsible section, but rather because of the rapid fraying of the part of the cord around the jack where the headphones are plugged in to the discman.
Perfect!
I love this thing..!Yup, the bass is not as rich as one would expect, but its not bad either. What I mean is, I did not regret it for anything.
A good buy. Wish it was a bit cheaper, though! It makes up in its looks for all it lacks in the bass. So, no regrets.

Great bass and comfortable tooThe phones are really light and comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. They also block outside sound and don't "leak" sound to others around you even when listening at high volume.
I use these with my home system so I really like the 16 foot cord. If you were using these with a portable walkman the cord might be too long.
All in all these are great headphones, especially for the price. You would have to pay at least double to do better.
Pretty Good, just don't compare them to SennheiserThe sound, very superb, you can say they hold much detail in visualization of sound for a huge variety of instruments. Sounds i have never heard on my hi fi stereo and my pioneer speakers are produced here with very awesome spacing, reverb replication, sound fading, and surround that i didn't think was possible for a cheapo Headset. I have been hearing instruments that sound as live as in person, something that isn't normal to be heard in my experience. I am not an experienced audiophile, but I do know these phones are pretty decent.
Well let's get this straight, Just don't compare this to a carver or Sennheiser headphone that is 300 bucks. These headphones easily beat many basic studio phones running 70 dollars. And anything in this price range for that matter.
Another thing is your sound source. My hi fi stereo, sony, didn't really produce much cutting sonic clarity and sounds a bit muffled and underpowered. I thought my headphones were crappy until tonight, i plugged these puppies as one last chance, into my soundcard and was blown away!..Well not like the sennheiser, but still!
Just remember the sound will will be as good as your source.
I can't recommend these for walkmans, cause its bulky and with a long cord. But i use a tie for it. And most walkmans won't produce the quality to make these sound good.
Overall, I am impressed. I give it 5 stars, cause it beats all in its price range and above a little. When you go to the 70+ range, these aren't better, and anything by Sennheiser makes this sound weak.

Great Sound, Compact size. Almost PerfectThese headphones have it all (almost) they have great sound, fold up to a size that is smaller in diameter than my portable CD player, and they block outside noises really well. The earcups are small, but feel very nice once you fit your ears into them. The headpiece is not padded, but it is not really an issue for me because the phones are readily adjustable so you can make them whatever size you wish. Also, a feature that has been overlooked by these reviews is the so-called "shock absorber" for the cord. On the left earpiece, where the cord is connected, there is some sort of spring-loaded mechanism that allows the cord to be pulled away from the earpiece, thus protecting the cord. In other words, you're able to accidentally pull the cord and it won't pull out, rendering the headphones useless. Also, another good feature is the fact that these phones do not leak much sound, to they can be used in public without annoying others.
One minor drawback to these phones, is the length of the cord, it is, well, not very long, maybe 3-4 feet at the most, it isn't good if you are sitting far away from your music source, unless you can find some kind of extension, but for portable use it is just fine, however I doubt I could reach it from me to the output on my sound card, and still be left with adequate room to move around.
Overall, the cord issue is very minor compared to the other benefits these headphones offer. Good job Panasonic!

Studio Drummer: These are great !!The only negatives I can come up with are that they are heavy and adjustments of the position of the speakers on my ear are limited and cumbersome. Also, they will cause your ears to sweat after a long session and if your ears are sensitive to this you must let them breathe.
However, there must be tradeoffs, and the quality of these phones well outway the negatives. Don't buy them to jog with. They are not meant for that. However; if you want to emerse yourself into the music without outside sound interruptions these are the headphones for you. You can hear things you will never hear through your speaker system with these phones.
Hands down bang for the buck winner!!!As a teenager, these were the headphones to get, but I could not afford them and had to settle for a pair of Pioneer SE205's. What a thrill it is to finally purchase something that I always wanted as a youth!!
I have seen the complaints about the weight and yes they are heavy, but I think that is the trade off for having cans that will block out most of the external noise and sound this good. I'll just have to get used to them. (so will the other guys in the band since I purchased 4 sets)
If you are looking for a great set of studio headphones that won't break the bank, don't hesitate to buy the Pro4AA's.
Koss Pro4aa
I've had em for a day. Running a NAD C540 Cd-player, NAD C370 amplifier, with MIT terminator 2 interconnects. So far so good. The sound is a touch on the bright side, and particularly so with already bright recordings. This I hope will abate with sufficient burn-in time. Already the reproduction of voice and acoustic material is excellent in terms of clarity, and is convincingly natural. Some electronic and rock (police/masive attack) sound a little harsh in addition to the brightness. I'm betting that harshness will disappear soon.
Sound field on these has occassionally been staggering. Listen to Pink Floyd the wall another brick pt 2 about 3 mins 30s in--the kids in the play ground sound like they're about a foot outside your head!
My B&W 2000 speakers have better clarity, detail, and obviously sound staging. . . but I need to crank em to ear bleeding levels for that. . .hence the phones.
