Excellent for single line phones
Do NOT try to use it with a phone that supports one than one line though. It will cut off the call you are on everytime someone rings in. Otherwise wonderful for a desk top unit.

AT&T -- just short of greatness
Leave it to AT&T to stop just short of greatness.

This is almost the perfect caller ID box -- tons of features, easy to use, understated design -- the big flaw? It doesn't light up! When a call comes in, you have to strain to read the black letters and numbers against the dark gray background!

Listen up, AT&T -- for a couple of pennies more, you could have made a perfect Caller ID box!

Neat piece of equipment
I was extremely happy with the performance of this Caller ID. The setup was real easy and it can store upto 50 calls which is really nice. You never know when you might need the number of somebody who had called up a while back. Also the red light indicator indicates if there is a call, which is quite helpful.
All in all I would say that this Caller ID is simply great.

Good, but one feature that needs improvement
I have bought this phone because my previous 2.4 GHz cordless conflicted with WiFi network in my house. Although I expected only a fair quality from this product, I can say that this product has done quite good a job so far.

It's compact, it has a good design, it's reception is stable and clear, and it has a long lasting battery - although often we left it outside of the cradle for one or two days, we never experienced a situation of its not working.

Plus, like some more expensive telephones, it provides a few convenient features, including quick dial number function. Its so-called rocket dial function provides for me capability to save calling card toll-free number and my account's password, and even several numbers of my friends.

My only complaint is that its quick dialing function does not provide for a phone number memory big enough to save the toll-free number + password + dialed number. So, I have to press a few buttons to reach my family in Korea. For a foreigner like me, it's a bit painful, but I guess this does not matter much for most Americans. Thus, quite recommendable.

Great value for the price!
I was looking for a cheap replacement after I spend 250.00 on a cordless phone 7 years ago from ameritech. It would have cost me 50.00 to have it repaired or replaced and since they don't have my phone anymore, who knows what I would have gotten. I decided to shop at my favorite shopping site and sure enough I came across this phone.I bought it and love it.It's lightweight and I've been told it is clearer than my last phone.I just bought my mother one today for her birthday!

Good Value!
This phone is an excellent product for the money. If you need a good no-frills cordless, you can't go wrong with this Uniden.

Stunning voice quality
I have been very impressed by the quality of the transmitted voice. While so many Internet phone products sacrifice the sound quality to performance, Aplio found a way to keep both.

You can't believe its going through the same unreliable medium as your normal Netscape session.

Still, my mother-in-law can use it...

I love it - I talk to my girlfriend for free!
Wow! I love cyber toys and cool internet stuff. I use Aplio all the time to talk to my girlfriend in Hong Kong (who does not have a computer by the way). We used to limit our talking to 20 minutes or so every few days. Now we talk almost every night for like an hour or even longer without worrying about the cost. The sound quality is great, especially since it's free! So much easier and cheaper than phone cards - especially for college students like myself.

Amazingly only VoIP device for dialup & broadband Internet
I have been happily using Aplio since late 1999 to call from the US to other countries. Later on I replaced my Aplio with Aplio Pro, which connects to my cable modem. It effectively gave me a second telephone line. Most of my family members, who have the original- dialup Aplios in the developing countries, can call me any time. It only cost me the Internet service (which I need it anyway for other purposes). I have gotten rid of my international telephones service several years ago.

Interestingly, it gives best bang for buck for those users who call between two developing countries, as the international calling rates among the developing countries are still high.

Since the advent Aplio, other VoIP devices have come into the market. But most of these newer devices are either for the broadband market or through a paid monthly service. Aplio is the only device that gives you the freedom to call via the dialup as well as through the broadband or any combination of these Internet services, free of charge.

The Aplio or an Aplio Pro device requires a server to coordinate calls between the two users. The Net2phone, which acquired Aplio in 2000, does not support the Aplio server anymore. However, other users have started their own free servers. In fact, you can start your own server on a PC connected to a DSL/ Cable Modem without any dependency on a corporation or an individual. The server software is available on the Internet - Free.

As the Internet service has gradually improved internationally, the quality of voice has also improved and is sometimes better than a traditional international call. You can find helpful information about Aplio from Aplio Users Group page on the web. http://members.cox.net/aplio

The latest version 2 of Aplio is 100% compatible with the Aplio Pro. However, older version 1 does not work with Aplio version 2 or with Aplio Pro.

Great features, poor sound
Being a very jaded consumer of cordless telephones, my expectations were not real high when I bought this phone from a local retailer. We have a 2.4GHz DSS Uniden with digital answering machine that is over 3 years old (TRU248). It's taken a lot of abuse, and yeah it breaks up around my wireless router and microwave, but otherwise it's been a good little unit. This Uniden has way cool features that you can read of for yourself, but the bottom line is sound quality, and this unit is a big step backwards. After about 5 minutes of talking to someone, you find yourself wanting to say "over!" at the end of your talking, it's really that bad. When the other person isn't talking, you think they have hung up, and when they do talk, the static level is unacceptable no matter what volume level you use on the handset. It was also MUCH worse about dropping out around my router and microwave than my old 2.4, and the "Clarity Booster" (cranks up the transmit power according to the manual) did nothing of the sort.

I really wanted to like this phone, but in the end, it went back. We got an AT&T 2325 instead which tolerates the router and microwave much better, and the voice quality is ten time the Uniden. I haven't been an ATT fan in the past (they're no longer made by who you think they are) so we'll see how life goes with it.

better than the rest
After returning an(different brand) that didn't have the right features and an SBC-branded phone that had absolutely horrible sound quality, I bought this one and am happy. It has a little static, but I think that may be very difficult to avoid in a 2.4 GHz phone. I have an additional handset and the range is good. I've got the base unit in my office (next to my computer, router, fax, printer, monitor -- so maybe a little static is to be expected) and the extra handset out in the garage. The speakerphone is good quality--easy to have a clear 2-way conversation. the placement of the mic (on the underside of the unit) makes this possible (avoids feedback) but makes your voice sound a little far away to the person on the other end.

This is a great deal for the money.
I had some trepidation at first due to some of the negative reviews. I can only say that I'm impressed. Easy to set up easy to use, the voice quality is excellent. The handset is also a speaker phone making this thing doubly versatile. It has a mute button which allows me to type while on conference calls.. They thought of everything. Excellent answering machine. I don't have a single negative comment. I've had it for a few months now..It was money well spent.

Good for the money... then you buy a new one
I bought this phone because I just needed a phone for my room, without the "bells and whistles" of an answering machine system. The worked really well for maybe two or three months (good reception, light, etc...), but now I can't talk on my phone for more than 5 minutes (after being charged for 24 hours b/t each call) before the battery dies on me. Kind of ridiculous, really. Also, my phone "clicks" when I am actually able to use it. It might be worth it for a month or so, unless you like to buy a new phone 4 times a year. :-)

Good basic phone at a good price.
Puchased this phone 3 months ago to replace a 900 Mhz phone. So far I've been pleased with it. The reception has been good throughout my home and when used outside. All calls on it have been clear. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the sound can be a little hollow; but it's not enough to detract from a call. I'd recommend this product if your just looking for basic 2.4 Ghz phone.

Good Phone For The Price
I bought this phone several months ago & I am very pleased with this one. I have had several cordless phones, this so far is the best one that I've had in years. If you are looking for a good phone, at a good price, this is it. As far as the price goes, other stores sells the exact phone for more money. Target was the least expensive that I found.

LCD Screen Failure
I've had this phone for about two years and it has been great except for one thing. The LCD screen is almost completely useless now. It started losing "lines" of pixels both horizontally and vertically. Now enough are gone that memory dialing and caller id are useless on this phone and I am shopping for a replacement.

Fantastic 900 MHz Phone!
I have had this Sony 900 MHz phone for a little over a year now and have gotten nothing but great service from it. Having the caller ID on the handset is a wonderful feature. I can see whoever is calling from anywhere in my home. The power of the digital 900 MHz is impresive. I can hear the caller on the other end loud and clear from any part of my home, even outside on the porch or sitting on the tail gate of my pick up. Another great feature is the seemingly tireless battery. After more than a year of heavy use the battery still keeps charging, now thats great value. If you are in the market for a great cordless phone, dont be a cheap O, treat yourself to this Sony Digital 900 MHz for a fantastic cordless phone.

Our Favorite Phone Ever
This is the very best phone that we have ever had! There are so many features and they are very easy to use. In fact, we like our Sony phone so much that we bought two more for gifts and another one for ourselves with the answering machine. We have had it for about one year and still say over and over, "I love this phone!" We highly recommend it! Thank you, Terri

maybe it's just not a city phone...
Everyone I called with this phone either complained about the bad connection or how echoey and strange my voice sounded. Actually, the phone sounded echoey to me too a bit when talking on it. Perhaps because of the speakerphone? Also, during every conversation I had with the phone, strange interference and drop outs abounded every few minutes. But I really liked the speaker-in-handset function so much that I didn't want to give it up. As recommended in the instruction manual, I tried it in several locations throughout my apartment, always with the same results. Finally, I gave up and returned the phone. Maybe it failed because I live in an apartment building in NYC?

This phone is Great
Great phone, great clarity. The speaker phone in the handset is wonderful.....one of the better sounding speaker phones I've used. Friends don't even realize that they are speaking to me on speaker!!

Great phone!
I did a fair amount of research before I purchased this phone. I am so glad I bought it. I love love love the speakerphone on handset option. That is the main reason I bought it, because I couldn't find any other phones that had it. It is so great to have when you are on hold. Our reception is just fine. I saw some reviewers said their reception was bad or echoey, but for us it is crystal clear, and we live in an apartment building in the city (the only time there is a problem with the reception -- a slight dinging sound can be heared by the other party -- is when I am using the speakerphone). I would strongly recommend this phone to anyone considering buying it.

What did you say?
I've used this phone about three years. I got it when I
set up a home office and wanted to have a separate line
for work vs. personal calls.
The only problem I've had with it is that people on the
other end of a call have a hard time hearing me -
especially if I use a headset. The problem is bad enough that
I'm now looking for a replacement.

Great 2-line phone, great price
We have 2 lines coming to the office, so this is the perfect priced phone for us. It has a front jack for your laptop connecticon. If you have 3-way calling on both lines it is possible to make 5 people conference call. It has 2.5 mm jack for headphone, so you are free to go anywhare and do anything while talking on the phone. I will buy one more.

Great Phone!
This phone is great for the family! With it's two lines and great price its perfect. If you have kids and a busy family, this phone is durable and right for you.

Terrible Interference - Spend your $ on a better phone
Spend your money on a better phone. I bought the Uniden EXA-2245 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Phone with Digital Answering a few months ago. I have never had a problem with Uniden before, but this is the WORST phone I have ever had. There is so much interference. I can't have a phone conversation without hearing 3-4 other conversations at the same time. The most irritating part is that the interfering conversations are crystal clear, while my conversation is static-y and oftentimes lost completely due to the interference. Even sitting right next to the base does not help. THIS IS THE WORST PHONE! My old 900mhz phone was better than this. I have to buy yet another phone now to replace this piece of junk. The answering machine part is OK though.

It's so nice, I bought it twice (sort of)
I bought the model with the answering machine, and the rest of my family liked it so well, I bought another one (this one with out the answering machine). The phone works remarkably well. I am used to corded phones, and not being limited by wires is great. The sound quality is good, but there are occasional clicks that I and the person I am talking to can hear. Changing the channel seems to help occasionaly--could be interference. All in all, a very good phone.

No problems
I was actually planning to purchase a non-cordless phone, because I was concerned about a cordless phone's succeptibility to interference. But after not finding a suitable non-cordless phone (inexpensive with built-in digital answering machine) at the store, I purchased this one.

I never had any problems with this phone, interference or otherwise, so I have no reason to give it less than 5 stars.
