Excellent for single line phones
AT&T -- just short of greatnessThis is almost the perfect caller ID box -- tons of features, easy to use, understated design -- the big flaw? It doesn't light up! When a call comes in, you have to strain to read the black letters and numbers against the dark gray background!
Listen up, AT&T -- for a couple of pennies more, you could have made a perfect Caller ID box!
Neat piece of equipmentAll in all I would say that this Caller ID is simply great.

Good, but one feature that needs improvementIt's compact, it has a good design, it's reception is stable and clear, and it has a long lasting battery - although often we left it outside of the cradle for one or two days, we never experienced a situation of its not working.
Plus, like some more expensive telephones, it provides a few convenient features, including quick dial number function. Its so-called rocket dial function provides for me capability to save calling card toll-free number and my account's password, and even several numbers of my friends.
My only complaint is that its quick dialing function does not provide for a phone number memory big enough to save the toll-free number + password + dialed number. So, I have to press a few buttons to reach my family in Korea. For a foreigner like me, it's a bit painful, but I guess this does not matter much for most Americans. Thus, quite recommendable.
Great value for the price!

Stunning voice qualityYou can't believe its going through the same unreliable medium as your normal Netscape session.
Still, my mother-in-law can use it...
I love it - I talk to my girlfriend for free!
Amazingly only VoIP device for dialup & broadband InternetInterestingly, it gives best bang for buck for those users who call between two developing countries, as the international calling rates among the developing countries are still high.
Since the advent Aplio, other VoIP devices have come into the market. But most of these newer devices are either for the broadband market or through a paid monthly service. Aplio is the only device that gives you the freedom to call via the dialup as well as through the broadband or any combination of these Internet services, free of charge.
The Aplio or an Aplio Pro device requires a server to coordinate calls between the two users. The Net2phone, which acquired Aplio in 2000, does not support the Aplio server anymore. However, other users have started their own free servers. In fact, you can start your own server on a PC connected to a DSL/ Cable Modem without any dependency on a corporation or an individual. The server software is available on the Internet - Free.
As the Internet service has gradually improved internationally, the quality of voice has also improved and is sometimes better than a traditional international call. You can find helpful information about Aplio from Aplio Users Group page on the web. http://members.cox.net/aplio
The latest version 2 of Aplio is 100% compatible with the Aplio Pro. However, older version 1 does not work with Aplio version 2 or with Aplio Pro.

Great features, poor soundI really wanted to like this phone, but in the end, it went back. We got an AT&T 2325 instead which tolerates the router and microwave much better, and the voice quality is ten time the Uniden. I haven't been an ATT fan in the past (they're no longer made by who you think they are) so we'll see how life goes with it.

What did you say?set up a home office and wanted to have a separate line
for work vs. personal calls.
The only problem I've had with it is that people on the
other end of a call have a hard time hearing me -
especially if I use a headset. The problem is bad enough that
I'm now looking for a replacement.

Terrible Interference - Spend your $ on a better phone
It's so nice, I bought it twice (sort of)
No problemsI never had any problems with this phone, interference or otherwise, so I have no reason to give it less than 5 stars.
