Good for home use.
If you are going to do minor faxing then this product is good for light faxing.

Brother's FAX275

Better talk fast!
As long as you've got a full charge on the battery and you're only planning on using it to order a pizza, this isn't a bad phone. I'm actually here shopping for a new phone, after having to scramble for my standby corded phone for the umpteenth time. I've tried replacing the battery - no luck.

Do yourself a favor and keep looking.

Cordless phone
This is only the second cordless phone ever owned and the first 900MHz of any kind. That said, I'd like to say it's a nice phone. Listeners on the other end could hear me clearly. I have a little feedback on my end, like I was speaking into something hollow, but it's very tolerable.

Great second phone
Purchased as a "bedroom" phone in my home. It is not solid feeling (which I equate with quality), but it is a great phone with excellent reception. The base is not too big, which is perfect for a smaller table (like a nightstand). It has hi and lo tone quality rings (as well as soft and loud). Haven't used it for long, but am very pleased.

Drops incoming calls
The design and features of this phone aren't bad. It seemed like a good value at the time. But having had it for a while now I've become dissappointed. The sound quality is not very good. Sound is not clear with a constant background hissing static. And the volume is low even at max volume. But the most significant problem with this phone is that it drops about 30-40% of the incoming calls when you answer them. You press the button to answer and the handset starts searching for the base unit, dropping the call. Problem exists on all my handsets. Will not buy VTech again, as I've heard others complain of same problem.

Cordless fan
I've had this phone for 1+ years with no problems. I expanded it to 4 handsets, but ultimately needed at least 5 in the house. I can make/receive calls on the handset even when I'm nearly 1,000 feet away from the house (residential neighborhood). I bought a VTech i5881 (2.4/5.88GHz) expandable w/ answer machine to go to 5 phones (5 or 6 if you count the base speakerphone). It doesn't have interference problems with the 2430, the controls are all familiar, and the i5881 can go to 6 phones. I can't imagine needing 10 phones, but between the 2430 and the i5881 I could. Other than the 4 handset limit for the 2430, I'd recommend it highly -- get the extra battery for the base so you have a spare for handsets and the base will function during power outages. BTW, my 2430 replaced a Siemens 2400 expandable. It was hopeless (bad reception, confusing controls, poor battery life when it actually did try to charge and literally 15-20 minutes when it decided (arbitrarily) to not bother charging even though the handset was in the cradle. I'd never buy another Siemens, but VTech hasn't let me down yet.

Thumbs Up.
Just hooked up my new Vtech phone and so far it's great. Nice and clear sounding and very lightweight. I love the handsfree button on the handset. (So if I'm listening to elevator music on hold, I don't have to crush my ear while waiting. I can hook it to my belt and walk around the house.) The only negative thing so far is that with 2 handsets, I had to program numbers in individually, which took forever! I added 38 numbers (so double that). But it's worth it since my old phone only allowed me 10 programmable numbers, not 50 like the VTech! (I wish there was a way to program all cell & landline phones from our own individual master list, so we wouldn't have to enter in each number and name again and again; maybe in the next generation?!) I also find the sickly-looking green display a little "dated," but I can live with it. I like the intercom button ...almost like having a walkie talkie between up & downstairs. The convenience of having two cordless phones in the house is great! And I love how they take up less space than my old phone. I took it next door with me, and the range is great, too! So I won't miss a call if I'm outside. So far I love this phone, but I just got it...I hope I'm not disappointed in the months/years to come.

all looks and no quality
This phone is pleasing to the eye, but I found that this phone was too clunky. When holding this phone on your shoulder, you may end up hanging up on the person. The talk button sticks out in a way that its easy to hang up with a slight touch of your ear. My roomate had this phone at college and didn't find it handy at all. I would have liked to have a redial button too. Sound quality was bad once I walked in to the next room as well. I don't recommend buying this phone.

Great Phone
I own 4 of this model in my home, business, garage and cabin. Well balanced, good range and crystal clear !!! I have had more expensive and they were nowhere near as good.

Great Bargain!
I bought this phone a year ago and have been very pleased withit. The phone does not feel or sound like a cheap phone. It has held up in our house even after being dropped a few times by the children. The sound is very clear, you can't tell you are on a cordless phone. We are able to talk from all parts of our house, even outside. I highly recommend it!

Poor fidelity and poor programming
I bought this item because I wanted a 2-line digital answering machine. I was very disappointed in the audio fidelity, but even more so in the programming. For example, both by phone, and on the face of the unit, it is not easy to erase calls. Comparing the programming to other units I've used, or your local Bell answering service, the speed of use is lacking. I don't have a suggested alternative, but I am not ready to see this is a good product.

Very pleased
I am very pleased with the Casio TA-180 2-line answering machine. The quality of the outgoing announcements and the recorded messages are very good. Set up is very simple. Playback operation is one button, what a breeze. Saving, skipping, and replaying messages is intuitive using the buttons and button labels provided. I read the directions once and never looked at them again. And the price is what I expected to pay. Another positive is that the machine does not include a bunch of ancillary features, it's a straightforward, two line answering machine. I am very pleased with the Casio TA-180 answering machine.

What would I improve? The built-in "computer" voice that guides you through the setup and announces the number of messages is stilted and not natural sounding. All in all, no big deal.

Five minutes, and it was installed!
I just had to have a 2 line answering machine, and despite the one negative review, the Casio seemed like the best bet. It arrived, and it was up and running in 5 minutes. It offered more than I expected, and the sound quality is very good.

One person said it was hard to setup and program. It's easier than a VCR, it's easier than a home computer, it's easier than most microwaves. My phone setup is kinda ugly.... the manual covered the different installation options clearly - including my unusual phone setup, and following the instructions was a snap.

All in all, I think the guy who said it was awful either didn't read the manual, or got a lemon.

Good Deal
I purchased this phone because we have a limited # of phone jacks in our home and I needed more phones than I have jacks. So far, I have been satisfied. The only 2 things I have found that I don't especially like are regarding the cordless phone. The volume is extremely loud and find myself constantly trying to turn it down although it is on the lowest setting. Also, it takes much longer than any other cordless phone I've owned to charge. However, it has sat off the charger for 2 days and was still able to be used. Over all, a good deal.

A very decent phone
Basically, this is a very good phone with a lot of features. The only thing that I found annoying is that when you use the cordless, the sound is not very crisp. Also, the battery doesn't last as long as I thought it should. You have to recharge it for about 12 hrs; meanwhile, my Panasonic only has to recharge for 4 hrs. The reason I bought this phone is you get speakerphone, corded base and a cordless all for the price for one. As far as my experience with cordless phones (I have a Sony, Panasonic and a GE), Panasonic is the best.
After using the phone for about a month, the delete function for the caller id on the base didn't work. I sent the whole thing back to Thomson electronics. They told me it would take 4 to 8 weeks to fix. But then, two weeks later, I received a brand new phone in the mail. That was definitely a surprise. I guess it's cheaper for them to send me a new one than to fix my old one. I have to say my experience with them is not bad at all.

Finally found all I wanted in a phone when I bought this....
I was realy looking for some specific features in a phone and was frustrated until I found this beauty. Either they had some but not all the features I wanted or added features I didn't want or need. I wanted a corded phone because I found that reception with a cordless was so bad in my basement apartment and hated the cordless batteries that always seemed to need to be charged too much. Then again I wanted a cordless for the convienence but I also wanted a speaker phone for those long "on hold" calls. I especially wanted a phone that had a back-lit caller ID display and I did not want an answering machine as I had voicemail through my local phone company. All this seemed like a tall order and of course I didn't want to spend $100's of dollars. This phone met all these requirements and more at a great price and the cordless part is static free with a long battery life. This is my only review I've ever written but I felt I just needed to. This phone is awesome!!

Do not buy this phone
I bought this phone to replace a 900 mHz model that had poor reception. What a mistake. This one is by far much worse. The call quality is the worst I have ever experienced in a cordless phone. I've tried changing the channel, but I'm convinced that does nothing. The range is horrendous. If you venture more than 20 feet from the receiver, your call is completely taken over by static. It looks nice, that's about the only good thing I can say about it.

Basic 2.4 GHZ Phone
I bought this phone to replace another 2.4 Ghz phone I got (UNIDEN). The first one broke down twice in a year and I thought "Maybe I should buy a new one" (DUH).

Pros: Pretty slim, and light (In comparison with my latest phone, it weights like a feather). Good range. If you install it in a good-center area it should not bother you at all. Like the 2 minutes pager function. Plus it has the option of "pause" for sending tones in network operator. Good volume. The feature allowing you to set it on the wall is great. It keep it's upright position. Complete it with a digital answer machine (Inexpensive some models) and you'll be fine.

Cons: It's pretty basic. Doesn't have any caller ID or answering machine. It only have 10 memory preset (I already have 5 stored) only two ring tones (Want poliphonic? get a cell). Doesn't have any mute option.

I give it four stars because as a basic phone it won't let you down.

Reliable Phone at a Great Price
I've had this GE phone for four months, now. I bought it despite dire warnings from users who've had trouble with nearly every brand and model of wireless phone. I'm happy to say that I've had no trouble with the phone, and am particulary pleased with the call quality.

Calls are clear, and without static or popping, from every part of my house. Signal strength is uniform throughout the house, and I rarely if ever need to switch channels to get a better reception. The phone does have a faintly hollow tone compared to a land line, but it's barely noticeable and you'd have to be very sensitive for it to be an issue.

Another reviewer noted that this unit may conflict with wi-fi. I run wi-fi in my house, and have tested call quality with the wireless network on and off, and with the phone's base unit in many different locations. I can plainly state that my phone is unaffected by the wireless network, even when I put the base station right next to the wireless network transmitter.

The features of this phone are simple and easy to use. The caller ID pops up quickly and is easy to read. The numbers are easy to read and sound when you touch them. I don't use the programming feature to store numbers, but it appears to be simple to do for those that may want to. It's not chock full of features, but it does have a great set of features for the price. I can recommend this unit unconditionally.

Nice phone, nice price, good job, Sony.
The phone isn't big on features, but what can you expect from a 900Mhz DSS phone for the price. It does its job and it does it well. I take it to the adjacent building next to me and it's crystal clear, even with having hundreds of cell phone users around here. I thank Sony for making one of their good products affordable this time.

Sony's Best Telephone Ever!
Another winning product from Sony! This telephone incorporates a futuristic, silvery design with excellent DSS Technology! It is the best phone I ever bought and highly recommend it for its' ease of operation, great keypad (it's lighted) and excellent crisp reception. Sony has made a true winner!

Great phone, great price
I have always loved my Sony products, but had a little dose of sticker shock at the same time. This Sony cordless phone is not only a GREAT value, but a great phone with crystal clear audio, long range, and easy-to-use features.

TravelSpeak for my Qualcomm 820
This thing is junk! It constantly cuts out, the mike is woefully lacking, and the quality of my phone reception tends to decrease when plugged into this unit. I am unhappy with my purchase.

An excellent product
After a month of searching for a hands-free solution for my Qualcom 820 phone I came across this product. It was exactly what I wanted -- I wasn't interested in something that had to be permanently installed (not to mention way over my budget) and I didn't want anything with an earpiece. This product was the perfect fit for me.

The TravelSpeak is simple to install and use. One end plugs into your cigarette lighter and the other plugs into your phone. That's it! The sound quality is excellent. However, my one complaint with this unit is the sound clarity for people on the other side of the conservation: it tends to pick up EVERY background noise while you're talking, then goes completely silent when your party is talking to you. This can be somewhat distracting for your caller, but I consider this a minor annoyance compared to the safety this unit brings to you. Your money will be well spent if you buy this product.

This product is amazing!
I have wanted a hands free speakerphone kit (that works) for my Qualcomm cell phone since the day I bought it. The Cellular phone store wanted $420 to permanently install a speakerphone kit for it! Astounded, I called my car dealer, who said it would cost even more. I bought a hands free kit (NOT the Travelspeak) from some catalog I received, and when it came, it didn't even work. Although now skeptical, finally I bought this Travelspeak from Amazon, and amazingly it sounds as good as the one that was wired permanently in my old car that I traded in last year, which if I remember correctly, costed several hundred dollars to install, and I couldn't take that phone with me.

The included visor mic with this model adds even more clarity to the sound being transmitted. You should offer extra visor mics as an accessory so people can put them in different vehicles they own. Anyway, this is a wonderful product at a great price that performs much better than I thought it would...a rare accomplishment for any product nowadays. It makes me a safer driver because I can talk with both hands on the steering wheel, the quality of the sound and the product is outstanding and it charges my phone too. Buy it...you won't be sorry!
