i like my compaion because a not and your computer use that

I'm a techie. I know computers backwards and forwards, inside and out. But sometimes I want to just type up a quick e-mail, or write myself a note and print it out. Computers take too long to boot up, and are too big, or the batteries are a measly 3-4 hours long.

This little VTech Companion fit the bill just fine!

Weighing in at about 2 lbs, I now can read/write my e-mail while sitting in the bathroom, or in the library. If I wake up in the middle of the night and want to write something and print it out in a moment of inspiration, I can do that. Just type up an e-mail to myself, and before sending it, print it out. [this device prints to ANY parallel-port printer, except for the "Windows-Only" printers. If your printer can print text, this will work with it].

I'm addicted: I get home from work, and before signing on to my ISP, I plug this baby into the phone line, type in my password, hit "Connect", and it zaps my e-mail to me. The screen is very clear and easy to read.

The ISP/e-mail contract is inexpensive too -- less than $10/month. I also love the fact that you can check your mail anywhere there is a standard phone line.

The batteries! How can I forget! One of the loveliest features of the VTech Postbox Companion is that it takes just 3 C batteries, which should last about 6 months. This, to me, is a wonderous thing.

This little device also brought the mystery back into online for me. I am from the BBS days, dialing up mysterious computers from far away. They hardly exist anymore, but this VTech brings the mystery of things back for me.

This device *doesn't* do everything, and it isn't supposed to. I use it for e-mail, and as a portable word processor. It won't replace your ISP, but it does give you an amazing portability, with a keyboard that is comfortable.

and this phone is pretty [inexpensive]. This phone looks nice and has a lot of good qualities such as volume control and capability to save numbers, but there is so much background noise that I couldn't hear anything. I know it's not the reception at my home, because my other phone was always clear as a bell.

If you are looking for [an inexpensive] phone, this product is for you, but if you want to hear the people on the other end, you might try a different brand.

This phone is excellent. It is a great color blue. It is an easy handle phone.

I have experienced many a phone, and have yet to find one with better volume. This phone's volume is excellent, and is easy to adjust. The only thing that is annoying about the phone is the fact that when you press the buttons on the keypad, the phone makes loud beeps with each press. The CallerID feature is easy to maintain, and the phone's handset itself is very easy to navigate. A slight problem might be reception, but it is easily fixed by pressing the PROG/CHAN button, so it is fixable. The multiple mailboxes are easy to maintain and make it easier for multiple-person households, and such. The mailbox feature really makes it easier to sort messages, so there arent any excuses about mistakenly erased messages. All in all, I must say this phone has been pleasing. We shall see, though, how it stands the test of time..

I bought this phone for my room, its pretty cool. It is exactly like the picture of the Espresso model except it its a nice bright indigo (NOT-iMac style translucent though) color.
Its design is cool, not as bad as it may look in the pic, nice basic features, 3 ring tones, memory, flash, big bang 4 your buck.
It's durable and well made too, I've had problems with cheaper bargain phones where they pick up radio interference and tune in to the tv station near my apartment while on the phone. Not this one, it appears to have a shielding device and doesn't feel cheap.

I recently purchased an AT&T 210 Trimline Phone in hunter green, and I think it is a real bargain for the very low price. The sound quality is excellent, better than some more expensive phones I have used. I love the three speed dial keys located on the top of the keypad; they are so handy! The only reason I did not give this phone 5 stars is because it has no mute button. A mute button is nice to have for when you are on a phone call and don't want the person you are talking to to hear sound going on in the room. However, this is no really big deal. Overall, this is a very good little corded phone to have in your house. Everyone should have at least one corded phone in case of a power failure, when most cordless phones don't work, and this is a good choice. It is simple, and you don't get bogged down with a bunch of features that are difficult to understand, not to mention easy to tear up. This is a dandy simple little phone.

I found the 3470 battery to be good except for fact it does not hold a charge for no more than a day. If left off the base over night it goes dead.

I found this telephone on closeout at Office Depot for $30 about four years ago. List price was $129. Unlike today's telephones, this model (9002) doesn't feel like a toy that will break the moment it is dropped. It has a nice feel and weight to it that conveys quality.

This telephone has everything but a built-in answering machine and caller ID. It features a low battery indicator which I've never actually seen because I religiously leave it on the hook/charger when not in use. Speaking of which, I've never had to replace the battery even though the product manual recommends leaving it off the charger until it needs recharging in order to prolong battery life.

Sound quality is excellent. Feedback into the mic (that tinny sound that amplifies or adds hiss on cheaper telephones) is 95 percent nonexistent. There is a switch to turn up volume on the handset, but I leave it on minimum. No need to turn it up.

Range is excellent, static/interference is rare even though I had (at one time) a very bad telephone line that prevented me from enjoying every other cordless phone I had tried up until that point. This unit also does a good job suppressing sources of interference such as AM radio, which was a problem on a GE I had tried.

Other features include a built-in headset jack with belt clip, speakerphone, call conferencing, electronic hold button, memory/speed dial, page/intercom, flash and redial button. The line 1 and 2 keys are backlit, the remaining buttons are not. All keys are rubberized and large enough to easily use.

Every feature works well. The only problem that I can report is that one or two of the keys sometimes fail to respond while dialing (no tone so you have to hit the number again). This is a common problem in a telephone as it grows older. Right now it is a small annoyance, just large enough to cause me to start keeping my eye out for another great deal on a comparable telephone. Unfortunately, I can't find anything for the price that meets the quality I've come to expect. Sadly, even AT&T telephones aren't nearly what they used to be. (Greedy corpora te cost-cutting measures are obviously to blame and will continue to be a fact of life until the consumer refuses to buy poorly designed products.)

Bottom line? As a result of the astounding level poor quality on the market today, I'd rather find this telephone used [...]than buy anything I see on store shelves today..

I also loved having the page/ringer that rings until u find the phone, for those pesky times when you just have to make a call. And who wouldn't like a wall-mountable phone, for when you have no room for a phone. Loved the phone, and I hope you do too.

I was suprised how lightweight this battery was compared to the one I was replacing. It makes the phone much more comfortable to wear on my belt. Overall, I am very happy with the Nokia cell phone battery performance!
