I use yahoo voice chat to talk to my parents in another country. Before buying this phone, I had to sit clost to the pc and talk to them, so cannot do anything except sitting near the pc.
After buying this phone, I am mobile, I can roam around in my house with the cordless.
I am greatly impressed with the audio quality.
I purchased immediately 1 more phone, and I am planning to send it to my parents so that they need not wear the headphone mic to talk to me.
My mom can talk to me while she is cooking or gardening.
I am surprised why a good product like this is discontinued. I think telephone manufactures do not want to promote voip. I can't think of any other reason why this has not become popular.

I purchased this because I just felt the need to know about consumer IP telephony for myself. The equipment provides all the advancements and advantages you would need to get a satisfactory consumer IP telephony experience - namely, full duplex sound accomplished with speaker-near-ear and microphone-near-mouth no gimmick technology. An incredibly thoughtful (or well-researched) feature is the cordless mobility. It is so much nicer to move away from the computer when having extended conversations (at a substantially discounted per-minute rate, or even free!) and to sit on a couch or comfortable chair. The very simplicity of this phone's implementation and the very manufacturer of it, gives you the impression that this might be something big - just remember that you need bandwidth to really appreciate the current state. Downsides? You have to "hunt" for a provider, or so it seems, until you begin to realize that most instant messenger applications now have links to IP providers, so you can bring up your IM and just click 'call'. I was disappointed that AT&T did not link you right into a portal they owned however. I would like to see how they would package, or price, offerings. Another potential downside is that there is no speaker out jack (though there is a headphone out which is intended only for that function), so using your regular speakers will generally have to be an either/or proposition. Overall, if you want to tip your toe into IP telephony, this is definitely a great first step towards a satisfactory experience.

The phone is cool, but the handset with the snow dome in it leaks.

I have been a HotCall owner for quite a few years now and absolutely love this little gadget. We have only one phone line and didn't want to pay for another line just to be able to have the computer on and still receive calls. The HotCall is THE answer. Now while online you will never miss another incoming phone call or fax (if you are using a single data line as in a home office).

While online, if an incoming call is detected, HotCall will notify you with a alert tone and a flashing LED. If you have a phone attached, you can pick the call up and tell the incoming caller you are on the internet and will call back. Depending on modem connect speed, you can have up to 10 seconds of talk time.

You can also ingnore the incoming call - or - take call and HotCall will terminate the online connection.

Instead of callers getting a terminal busy signal, now you can stay in touch.

Very simple operation, easy to install ( 2 minutes). Great manual, and excellent tollfree tech support.

This electronic smart holder is great, I use it for my cel phone or handheld GPS unit. Very easy to install and use. I will never have to take my eyes off the road to look for the phone while driving when the phone rang. Great item.

I don't know about you, but I can't stand all those headsets that have small boom microphones or just earbuds. They either fall off or produce terrible sound.

But this headset is the perfect option. The band goes behind your neck, so no one can really see it. But it keeps the headset perfectly in place. Then the boom comes all the way out in front so the sound is perfect.

I love these and don't know why they are the most popular type of headset. They should be.

I use this headset regularly while I drive, it sounds clear and keep me from having an accident! I even take it on my trips (flight attendant for Delta Airlines) and use it during my layovers. I also use JTH940 at home with my cordless phone, can't imagine my life without them.

This is a great phone cable, particularly for travelling or for hooking up components that require a phone line (like a satellite unit, for example). It won't tangle, is durable, and is easy to see thanks to bright colors. I bought several in different lengths and colors, so I can tell how long it is by the color.

This product is a high-quality phone line cable. It is specially designed to give you the least noise and the highest quality phone connection possible. It will work for dial-up users, but is specially useful for DSL users. It wont produce any miracles like doubling your speed, but it will help to eliminate any noise or interference from other electronic devices you may have. The ends are especially useful since you can't break off the tabs as is easily done with the typical phone connector.

My father-in-law received this phone as a gift at Christmas. He has to wear hearing aids and this is the first one that doesn't interfere with them. The clarity on the speaker phone is also excellent. We were so impressed with how it worked, got one for ourselves.<br />

Excellent sound quality throughout the house, easy to set up, logical features -- all in all a solid performer. The digital answering machine can be set to an "enhanced" mode for a better quality recording if one is willing to accept a shorter total record time (approx. 8 minutes total). Using that option, we have found messages to be very clear and more easily understood than on our last two digital answering machines. We don't use caller ID, so we can't evaluate the "talking caller ID." On balance, we're very pleased with this Panasonic phone.

We have tried many different cordless phones with answering machines and this is the best one we have had yet. It has a sleek design and great features. We wanted
a unit that included call waiting/caller id, one that displayed new messages in some fashion (this unit has a blinking light with how many new messages you have since the last retrival), and had volume control for the handset as well as incoming and outgoing messages. Initially we didn't think we needed the extra hand set, but are using it by a computer and it is great. Interferance problems with the TV and microwave in the kitchen (where we have the main unit) have been minimal, which was a big problem with other
cordless phone/answering machines we have had in the past. For the price, this is a great phone/acnswering machine combination!

Just as a first hand note, my rating is based on the price range for this item. This has good audio quality, both out through the headphones and in through the microphone. This obviously isn't a high-quality audiophile-wooing headset, but I'd say it has sound plenty good for anything you may want to use it for on a day to day basis (that includes music). The headset is very comfortable, and is easily adjustable to fit even up to the largest heads. The microphone is nicely placed, and is adjustable as well, though somewhat awkwardly compared to the headset itself. The microphone can also fold up when not in use. There is a control on the cord that can mute the microphone as well as adjust the headphone volume. The cord is also very long, but includes a clip for attaching to clothing or where ever else a clip may serve handy. This has been purchased not only by myself, but two of my best friends, and even by the local LAN gaming arcade for every PC there, and all have given it praise. For this value, you can't go wrong with the Plantronics headset, and I would recommend it to anybody.

most of the complaints that i have heard are about it breaking.who cares if it breaks its got a year warrenty on it.if your like me with a new computer and a great sound card this headset is the best for you

For people who need to use a headset in a small noisey office atmosphere this an excellent headphone set. Good clear, crisp hearing and we're no longer having to nearly hollar to be heard when speaking. We spend 10 to 14 hours a day on the phone - what a great piece of equipment to add to our office. I would rate this 5 star plus!

I bought this headset/adapter set almost a year ago after experiencing Plantronics products in my work enviroment at a call center. Did you know how all those customer service representatives sit there and talk to you on these? They are very comfrtable to wear for extended periods of time, and honestly the reason I got mine is because I have trouble hearing in one ear. Earphones on both sides of a headset like this are a must for me. My callers never know I'm on a headset, all they know is that when I switch to it, they can hear me better. When I tell them I'm on headset, they can't believe it. I have my own business now, and spend a huge amount of time on the phone, which is exactly why I bought it. The only thing I don't like about it that I'm hooked by a cord to the phone all the time. BUT, I'd imagine the sound quality wouldn't even come close, if this headset was cordless. In summary...I'd reccomend it to anyone whose time on the phone is an investment. Mine is...that's why I have this product. Kudos to Plantronics for making call center headsets available to the general public at a decent price.
