Stay away from this product
Very bad product as others have said. We've had this phone for over a year and it's been nothing but problems. Poor phone quality, frustrating anwsering machine, not able to use remote access feature. Now it has a really loud background hum. Final straw. We will replace shortly.

You get what you pay for
It was very hard to find a good quality corded phone and after this phone I can still say the same thing. I had read previous reviews before I had purchased it and thought it sounded pretty decent. But, when I received it I found similiar problems other customer had found. You cannot check your messages from the remote, even the customer service provided by the company could not get it to work. Another problem is the fact that there is only 1 min of recording time so most of my messages were cut off. In the owners manual under trouble shooting it says "it is the cause of a caller pausing for more that 7 seconds" and the way to correct it is "have the caller speak continuously w/out any pauses." Should this be the message I leave on my machine "please leave a message less than 60 sec. w/ out taking a breath thanks" I returned it and am in the process of looking for a new one.

Avoid this phone
This phone comes with good features, but it performs very poorly. Answering machine messages are virtually unintelligible, and it is very difficult to hear and understand people through the handset. I wish I never bought this phone. If you think the price is too good to be true, you're right.

Great phone for a B&B or roommate situation!
I have a house full of people and two phone lines. 6 Adults and 3 children. We have set up this excellent phone system so that every person has their own wireless handset with their own maillbox and forwarding, caller ID etc. But the true BEAUTY off this system is that the basestation handles and routes the calls to the individual handset, only ringing THAT handset, and not disturbing anyone else. Because we take advantage of individual ring sounds, no one is confused, when a phone we know immediately who it is for.

I only give it 3 stars because, although it has worked very well for a little over a year and we havn't had the battery problens with the handsets that others have had, the basestation recently went down. That in of itself would not be such a big deal, heavily used electronics sometimes go down. No, it is the customer service that is more than lacking; a big surprise because I have always in the past had great service from Panasonic. The customer service phone line is continuously busy and I have sent two emails, over a week apart each, and only had the automated response. This is unacceptable for a business product where businesses rely so much on thier phone systems! My tenants are, quite rightly, very angry that we have had, over a week, no phone service AND no progress towards getting it fixed!

Almost perfect, a fantastic home office solution
I purchased a KXTG2000B system as an alternative to wiring in phone jacks all over my house. The system works excellently, the one problem I have with it is that there is no way to mute the speakerphone, which makes long conference calls where you are trying to talk to someone in the room and not interfere with the call somewhat problematic. Reception is excellent throughout my house even though I have the phone located in a less than optimal location and have an iffy phone connection to boot. The system is smart enough to determine if a line is in use and route you around it, this is nice as I can dial in to work on line 1, go downstairs and pick up the phone to dial and it automatically dials out on the second line. Battery life is good on the handsets although the batteries will discharge if the phone is left out of the handset for a day or two. If you work from home and need a SOHO solution for multiple lines this is the phone to buy.

A complete answer for SOHO's-I'm Impressed!!!!
I recently installed this system replacing the Seimens system. I'm 100% impressed with the features included, especially the auto attendant feature. You're able to allow the standard message that is built in or record various messages-each being different for the two phone lines-yourself giving the caller options to select what extension to use, e.g. 0#=Operator, 1#-user1, etc. and if that user isn't available being able to give the caller the options of leaving voice mail or switch to another extension. In addition to being able to instantly switch between the auto-attendant and standard voice recordings for incoming call is great and on each of the two phone lines as they operate independantly. Each portable phone has their own address and voice mail feature plus being able to inter-com/conference between units while on the phone. Nice large display for caller ID, back lite all the time plus icons in the display indicating what extension is in use and what line is being used. Retrival of voice mail is excellant and the pleasant voice walks you through the various commands including forwarding a message to another extension. I have a 4 extension office and this unit is my answer versus rewiring my SOHO for additonal phones. Adding additional units are a snap and are controlled from the main pbx unit. The handheld units are comfortable and have exceptional range to the base. Additional features include a jack for headsets on both the base and portable units. In addition to being able to see who has called, you can click the speaker phone button or pick up the receiver and that number can be dialed immediately. I also like the ability to change the tones/volume levels of each of the phones so you can tell which extension is being called.

The only minor draw back I have and I've passed this onto Panasonic is to include "music on hold", of course you can buy external units, but it would've been the "Crown Jewel" for this great unit if it were standard.

GREAT PHONE FOR THE PRICE...........
OVER ALL THIS IS A GREAT PHONE FOR LOW LOW PRICE.
I HAVE HAD THIS PHONE FOR OVER 5 YEARS..........
VERY RELIABLE PHONE........WOULD BUY ANOTHER ONE

Good phone for Great Price
Have been using this for past 6 months and find it to be an excellent phone. No problems with handset, and speakerphone capability is remarkable for the price. My dog and I communicate frequently this way. He hears me well, as do I him.

Best phone
I bought this phone from Amazon.com back in Sept. of 1999 for use at school. Well, I am in my forth year, and the phone is still going strong. I have had no problems with it, what-so-ever, except the butons are beginning to stick.

Not too bad
I've had this phone for about 7 months now. It's performed well and met my needs. The sound quality is good--better than what I've experienced with other digital spread spectrum phones. There's no echo or digital artifacts. I've had strange behavior when I'm almost out of range, but that's to be expected. The answering machine feature works fine. There are a couple of things that bother me. The handset isn't very comfortable to hold for long periods of time. When I'm going to be on the phone for a while, I always want to reach for another phone. The battery life is also a little short for my tastes. When I hit 'flash' to switch to another call, the microphone seems to cut out for about 3 seconds. That's makes answering another call a little awkward; the caller always ends up hearing "lo?" because I invariably start talking too soon.

Overall the phone has been satisfactory. The drawbacks are minor for my use, and I haven't been sorry that I bought it.

Dual Line Uniden DSS Speakerphone (EXS-9660)
Why did I write this review... the Internet is making this a more consumer oriented world which is GREAT! I hope this post will help someone make an educated purchasing decision while also telling Uniden what they can improve upon.

This is a fantastic phone... two lines, DSS security, caller ID on the handset, as clear as a corded phone, long range, a speakerphone that actually sounds good and an overall great value for $150. I have looked a while and could not find all these features packed into a phone selling for <$200.

I have had the phone for about 2-months with the following six complaints/suggestions:

1. I purchased a second battery and it is not easy to insert it into the base for charging.

2. The line 1 and 2 buttons are in a bad location as it is easy to cut someone off or put them on hold while using your shoulder to hold the phone while talking.

3. The optional headset sounds terrible with the phone.

4. Why does Uniden.com not list the EXS-9660 model on their website? I had trouble even finding this phone when searching for a two line Digital Spread Spectrum phone with caller ID. The EXS-9650 appears to be the same phone without the caller ID.

5. When is the water proof model being released so I can sit in my jacuzzi and talk! ;-)

6. Hey Uniden... light up the handset like a cellular phone so we can dial and use all the cool buttons in the dark!

Overall, I am very pleased with the phone. If you want a second battery, I had good luck purchasing one on the uniden.com website. Although I love the phone, I am a little concerned reading all the posts about handsets going bad. Could this issue be something to do with power surges? I have mine hooked to a surge protector and UPS along with my computer... just in case.

Old ones are better
When Uniden introduced this phone years ago, I purchased it and was very please with the unit. Uniden was one of the first companies to have a backup battery in the base so the cordless unit can continue to work even with power outages. This phone performed well until one day, my wife accidently left the phone on the roof of our car. It did not fall off of course until I reach 50 MPH on the highway. I saw the phone bounce and come apart in my rear view mirror. We U-turned and I picked up the pieces. Only the battery cover came off and the battery popped out. No one seemed to run over the phone, battery yes. When I put it back together it seemed to work because I hit talk and it displayed talk but, we were of course too far away.
I got home that night and it worked. Now that is a tuff phone. I ordered another battery from Uniden and got another year and a half out of it before it began to act up.
So I tried, real hard to replace the phone. I wanted one with a speaker phone in the handset. Only 2.4 and 5.8 were available and none of them got the distance the old 900 DSS got. None were as clear. When I contacted Uniden to maybe get a refurbished one, none were available. I tried V-tech, other Unidens, Panasonic, ATT, none worked more then 300 feet away. Even Consumer reports tells you that the 900 MHz DSS gets the best distance and clarity.
I finally saw my old model throught Amazon, ordered it, got it and we are back in business.
This phone goes easily up to 1/4 mile plus from my home. I took the new phone, put it on my old base, the system reset itself and it worked. I decided to use the new base with the new phone.
Now I am looking for the older models with the keypad on the base and the single unit 900 MHZ DSS units.
In short, the newer 2.4 GHZ and 5.8 GHZ is a step backwards to me. They claimed you get distance but, no way. Maybe someday, they will improve their technology so one can be more then 300 feet from the base.
Thanks for reading this.

GE phone
I loved the older model, without the caller ID feature. The only problem I had after 3 years of use (had an extra battery)is the mouth peice over the years began to break away from the headset and you couldn't hear very well at times. You might say the family wore it out! Loved the design, great to be hands free while talking and walking in the house as well as outside the house in the yard! The reception was great! I am on the way to buy the new model and put it to the test!

A good effort
I am a huge fan of the old GE headset phones. I've used them for years. Unfortunately, I guess they weren't that popular and before long they were discontinued.

So, I was thrilled when this new, sleek version was released recently. This is a slick, lightweight phone. And now you can replace the headset if you break it (a fatal flaw in the old design).

I have done side by side comparisons with the older model and I'm told the old model's sound is a little clearer. The new model seems to have superior range. No extra battery with the new version, so you have to be sure to keep it charged.

This model has some odd things I'd like to see fixed. For one, I can't seem to dial in the volume very well. When I've set the headset volume for voice, the dial tone is far too loud, as are the key tones. This is a minor annoyance, but the old model was much better in this area.

All in all, I'm happy with it though. I still think this form factor is the best one for headset users. Not too small, not too big...just right.

versatile phone!
Excellent versatility. I use this phone constantly - while I am working online, doing laundry or washing dishes. I just ordered another two.

dont know
i have the veo advanced connect ,it has worked one time, when i'am on a web site everyone esle can see but i can not see any thing that is being shared they can see me but i can not see my self on the screen?can some one let me know what the problem is????????

Beware: No Tech Support- You're gonna need it
I own two smooth running Windows PCs. One runs Windows 98 First Edition, the other runs Second Edition. The Veo Advance Connect Camera worked on neither of them.

In fact, upon installing it on one computer, a blue screen-fatal system error automatically popup and persisted as long as the camera was plugged in. Perhaps this problem could be solved- I wouldn't know' tech support never e-mailed back. After 7 days, I gave up on this cheap, hopeless camera and returned it promptly for a Logitech 310 Webcam, one that has decent quality, but at least works.

Great Web Cam.. Recommend!
I have been with the web cam for several months and I
love it very much. The picture quality is pretty nice
in both online instant message programs and local pic-
taking application. Well, the only thing I would
complain about this camera is the looking: not that
pretty :-) Well, it is not web cam not a decoration for
my room.. So no big deal for me.. And plus I like the
"spider" stander which fits my LCD monitor perfectly.
And you can switch the spdier to a flat stander as well.
I video-conversated with my friends and they are impressed
by my image quality and several of them even got the same
one for themselves..

same battery problem as others
I have had the exact same experiance with this phone as most of the other reviewers. The only exception that I saw was that I actually did replace the battery and it didn't help. I am looking for a new phone now to replace it. Buyer beware.

crappy battery, otherwise ok
like some of the other reviewers i have had a real problem with this battery. it literally lasts 20 minutes after a full 24 hours charging. i havent yet tried replacing the battery but i've only had the thing for 6 months so far and already it's dying? anyway i would recommend NOT buying this one.

Exactly what I had hoped for
I bought this phone after reading a lot of reviews from various sources. So far (after four weeks), I am quite pleased with my purchase. The clarity is fine, even when I'm near my computer equipment and microwave. And I've gone into the yard without any degradation in signal. The battery lasts all day, and I keep it off the cradle all day. And finally, yes, the Telezapper does work. I've noticed a decrease in the number of telemarketing calls in the month I've owned this phone. My two cents...

DON'T BUY BEFORE READING REVIEWS
Looks like the majority of people have had a similar experience (aside from a couple lucky folks). GREAT idea! But...

First one had such low volume that I couldn't use it.

I exchanged it but had an impossible time installing the battery in that one.

The 3rd one worked well... for awhile. Then it started dying after just a couple minutes. The company sent me a new battery and it worked like a charm... for awhile.

By the time it was a few months old, with a new battery, the static creeped in (just like most other reviewers mentioned).

Initially, if I turned the headset slightly it went away. Soon I found the only thing that would help was holding the earpiece hard against my head (uncomfortable and kinda defeats the purpose). Now, nothing I do helps and I'm reduced to using the speakerphone only.

When it worked, it was fantastic.

WHEN it worked.

Judging from the reviews, looks like you have about a 1 out of 10 chance of ending up with a decent phone. That may just mean those with a good experience haven't had the phone long enough for problems to start.

I have 3 - they are ALL BAD!!
I have 3 different versions of this IBM headset phone - various models. Each time I thought they would improve. They didn't! Please head my advice - don't waste your $$! It's a great idea, and nothing out there like it, but these phones don't hold a charge after a month or so, the noise interference is awful, and they randomly have static on the lines for no apparent reason. I wish they would work for my home business - but they simply don't work well. Just don't do it!!

It is a Unique phone....I love it
I love this phone...leaves my hands completely free and with no wires dangling around my shoulder. While some other reviewers had complained about static....I have not noticed any static at all on my phone. For some it may be a little pricey, but I have not found a similar phone anywhere else for any price....I am not sure why there are not more phones of this kind.

Elisa's review
This is the worst phone I have ever used. I cannot walk into another room without losing the person I'm talking to. The expandable phones are even worse.

Good overall phone system, except speakphone
I've had a Toshiba 900 Hz for several years, that included an excellent speakerphone on the base unit. Recently, the buttons became worn-out, so I seached for a replacement. The KXTG1000N was a the top of my short list, for all of it's rich features. One very useable feature is the speakerphone on the handset. However, the quality of this is questionable. On conference calls, when someone begins to speak, I can clearly hear the first few words, then the rest of their sentence fades out. Very annoying, especially when your manager is giving you directions.. I even have the phone on mute, with volume at 50%, and still the same problem. I'm considering wiping the dust off my old Toshiba, at least for speakphone calls.

Very Good Phone loaded with features
After much research and several returns, we decided to buy the KX-TG1000N. We had not tried it before secondary to the bad reviews, and I decided not to write one after more than 4-6 weeks of use. Overall I am extremely pleased with this phone and its performance.
Pros:
* It is DSS, which adds to greater range and increased security
* The base digital speakerphone is extremely good. Even though you can still tell a speakerphone is being use, it is of great quality. No missing word or phrases when using it

*The Base DOES have an additional battery charger.
*As with most phones with caller ID, you can dial before pressing the Talk button
*You can communicate with the base or the other handheld units in the house. No need to yell calling people to dinner. You can also transfer the call to the desire unit (base or any of the handhelp units)
*Alphanumeric memory (store names and numbers from the keypad or from caller ID data)
*Headset compatible. This is great if you are cooking or doing activities involving you hands (Do get a handset)
*Very good range and clear signal. In my experience with this unit I have found no problems with clarity or range of signal. It has been quite impressive despite the fact that I placed the base next to my desktop computer.
Cons:
*2.4 Ghz. Yes, if you have wireless networking there may be interference (I don't). Plus you tend to pay extra. The 900 Mhz DSS offers pretty much the same range and security. If they had this model in 900 DSS that would have been my choice.
*Wall mounable: yes, but awful! The unit doesn't rest against the wall. The adapter to the base, so it can be on the wall, is in the back, not the bottom of the unit, so it looks like a shelf
*The speakerphone in the handset is not as terrefic as the one in the base, but it works better than other speakerphones in uniden bases tha I have owned. It is great to use it when on hold
*Somewhat pricey. The [money] rebate is quite nice though
*It doesn't have a dedicated mute key. You have to look at the screen to to activate the right multipurpose key
Bottomline: it is a phone system that is expandable, it has worked extremely well for the first 6 weeks. I give it 4.5 stars and I do recommend it.

Battery is AWFUL and phone too complicated
I've had this phone for over a year and the battery life is awful. It has a very short battery life; it will go dead during a conversation even though the handset says it is fully charged. It is also too complicated and scrolls through the menu very slowly. Panasonic's customer service was poor. This phone is a waste of money.

LISTEN TO THE BATTERY WARNINGS - I DIDN'T !
Owning an electronics firm, I didn't think I had to pay attention to the Reviews warning of battery problems. However, within three months, I experienced a short battery life that finally diminished to less than 12 hours. The people who rave about the phone, DIDN'T wait long enough to see the problem. I called Panasonic and they sent me another battery, but this one died in the same manner. Now it is my opinion, that Panasonic, a ver smart company, KNOWS about this problem, and it is in EVERY one of these phones. There are only three possible problems: 1) the batteries are no good. or 2) the charging circuit or handset circuit is defective in EVERY board they put in, or 3) the design is faulty and draws too much current. It is also my opinion, that Panasonic is trying to get you OUTSIDE of your Warranty period so you don't have a claim. Anyways, heed the WARNINGS and 1) Don't buy the phone, or 2) If you have already bought it, return it or tell Panasonic you want a DIFFERENT model replacement, and if need be, issue a chargeback on your Credit Card.

LISTEN TO THE BATTERY WARNINGS BELOW- I DIDN'T!!
Owning an electronics firm, I discounted the stories of battery problems as described below. Howver, within three months I experienced the phone going dead after only a few hours. A call to Panasonic got them to send me another battery, but, get this, they don't have a heavier duty battery available. Well, this battery developed the same problem, and, it is my opinion, that Panasonic tries to get you beyond the Warranty period. There are three possible problems with the phone: 1) it draws too much current and the battery is not heavy duty enough to last. or 2) the Handset circuit is defective and draws too much current, or 3) the charging circuit is defective in these phones. This is NOT an isolated problem, but apparently is either a mass production circuit board problem or a design flaw. Panasonic is a smart company-they know about this. MY ADVICE: Don't Buy it, or if you already did, make sure Panasonic doesn't delay you so that your Warranty expires. I will keep you posted as to what I find that is an electronic problem, but I wanted to warn you NOW so others won't waste their money.
