Useless
pretty good
Awesome Phone! To those who had trouble with the voice reception, I have a recommendation: try changing the phone's channel or the channel that your other electronics run on (like wireless internet). All the electronic communication stuff I've had comes set on default to broadcast on Channel 6. However, there are 13 channels available to choose from. My phone would actually overpower my internet connection, so I just changed the router to transmit on Channel 1; and no more troubles.
I also like the voice enhancing feature. Basically, it broadcasts above and below the normal frequencies that calls are carried on. I haven't been in the type of situation where it has made a substantial difference, but I would imagine that dorm and close apartment dwellers could really benefit from this. When I used it, my friend said it made me sound like I was right in the room--the call was long distance to his cell phone.
The features are fantastic: my favorite part is the speakerphone-handset feature. Just hold the phone in your hand, click speaker, and you can talk while you set the phone down on your coffee table or while you move around. No more cricks in my neck.
I got the Panasonic KX-TCA60 headset microphone to complement this phone; and it works great! No one can tell whether I use the speakerphone, the headset, or just pick up the phone like normal.
The talking caller ID is nice; but you may find it disturbing if you like midday naps (of course, it could also be a benefit--you don't even have to open your eyes to see who's calling). You can easily turn it off and on because the phone has a user-friendly menu: much like a cell phone.
Plus, the rings available are multi-tonal (like the newest cell phones). It doesn't really enhance the phone's performance, but I really like it! I also love the sleek design--but of course I hadn't had a new phone in 3 years.
I have only had the phone for a month; but it seems reasonably durable. I also can't speak to the answering machine--I already had one programmed, so I haven't gotten around to using this one. I just adore this phone because as a born multi-tasker, I love walking around, cooking, cleaning, sometimes even working out while getting in some conversation. It's been a life-changer on the scale of a VCR for me!

Sounds good to me, but not to the other personIt is a very comfortable headset and I can wear this all day! Snug yet you can quickly forget its there. It will never pop out either.
The sound quality to me was low, but acceptable. I have an LG phone, so I agree with the other reviewer that this might be an issue for folks with lesser amplified phones. But for me, it was fine.
The problem I had was that the people on the other end kept complaining that my phone was cutting out, I was difficult to understand, etc. I suspect the noise cancelation circuitry is responsible for that. When people would complain, I would unhook the headset and things would improve. The issue was definitely the headset.
I returned it and I'm looking for something else now. I recommend you avoid this way and be wary of other units with noise cancelation circuitry. Which whatever you buy, test it on yourself by leaving yourself a voice message using the headset and you will see how clear - or unclear - you really sound.
this headset has all the qualities i look for in a girl...(enough of my odd humor for now...)
So I bought this headset along with my sanyo pm8200, which is a nice phone by the way. Anyway, I absolutely love the headset. I can hear the people I talk to perfectly, and they can hear me fine. The only time there was a little trouble was when there was a little wind. The noise-cancelling capabilities were not operating to their fullest apparently, because I could not be heard crystal-clearly through the gusts of wind.
So quality of input/output is great, but what about the big C- comfort. Actually, it's a very ergonomically-correct headset. It doesn't have the horrible feel of a pair of regular headphones (with the earpiece engulfing your ear), while it also doesn't have the headache-inducing pain of an earbud (the kind that sticks right into your ear). It's something completely new. In case you're unfamiliar with the design, it looks like an earbud with a little flexible hook attached to the bottom. This hook wraps comfortably around the bottom of your earlobe, and the earbud sticks in your ear (yet somehow doesn't stick in it all..it just rests there). Here is where the headset design is both ingenious and annoying. Maybe it is because I have big ears, I'm not sure...but whenever I put this thing on, it stays on my ear fine, but the earbud never stays INSIDE my ear, or at least it doesn't feel like it does. It's distracting for me, because I constantly feel like the thing is going to fall out of my ear. But I also wouldn't like it if it was jammed too far into my ear...
Perhaps I am being too picky, or maybe I'm just wearing the thing incorrectly. In all fairness, this headset deserves a 5 because of its ingenious ergonomical design, great quality of input/output, and good looks (compared to some others I've seen people touting on their heads).

Very good basic phone
**Best Phone I've Ever Used**The range is incredible! I accidently took the phone with me when I left the house and more than two blocks away I heard a beep. Looking down at the display, there was an "out of range" indication. The thing kept beeping (should be able to silence this but I could have taken the battery out) but upon my return, I picked up the phone in aprox. the same location and there was a very clear connection. Again, awesome range more than two blocks from my house.
The display indicates Plenty of caller ID information as well as the handy address book (sorted only by alphabet, to get users to the top, you can use numbers like 01, 02, etc... Not too much of a nuisance to ME anyway)
Very good audio quality, those I connect to hear me loudly and clearly. I have purposely tried to make it echo by turning up the volume and cupping my hand in front of the mic but to no avail, nope! This thing performs like a champ and I love it. I have a slight problem with the headset (AT&T 90800) The volume I get from the ear portion of the headset is less than desired, and the mic doesn't perform nearly as well as the mic in the handset of the phone itself. A caller told me I was much clearer when I unplugged it. I am thinking about trying the 40 dollar one but am hessitant.
Overall, I think the phone is wonderful, I love the spare battery feature as it enables the base unit to opperate in a power failure, and provides a nice fresh one should the portable indicate a weak one. ...
The only reason I haven't given this unit a five star rating is because of the headset volume, and that may, or may not actually be the phone's fault. (I am hoping it is because of the AT&T headset which is comfortable yet perhaps not effective)
Hope this helps.

Great headset until it breaks
Good idea, but earpieces break too easilyThe high points of the unit stop there. I was used to using an over-the-ear Plantronics Tristar, and was surprised to see that the earpiece on the CS50 simply sits next to the ear and does not have any earbud-type capability for making it easy to listen in noisy environments. The over-the-ear attachment for the CS50 is nowhere near as comfortable as the Tristar was, and I gave up and switched to the headset attachment.
The headset attachment was much more comfortable, and I quickly adjusted to the earpiece. For about two weeks I was very happy with the unit. Then the o-ring that attaches the headset to the earpiece snapped, making the headset attachment unusable. I was forced to switch to the over-the-ear attachment, as that was all I had left.
I slowly got used to the over-the-ear attachment, but have to say it is not comfortable to wear for an 8 hour day. The cushion over the top of the ear consists of hard rubber and makes my ear sore.
After using the over-the-ear piece for a couple weeks, the o-ring attaching to the earpiece snapped -- just like before! There is obviously a serious design problem with the CS50 -- look at the other reviews here.
I called Plantronics, got someone to talk to me rather quickly, and she immediately took my name and address and said they would send a replacement (she also said "redesigned") headpiece and earpiece to me. Without saying so, she implied that the snapping o-ring is a common problem.
If the darn things didn't keep breaking, I'd give the CS50 4 stars for over-the-ear use. (I think it would need an earbud-style earpiece and a more comfortable over-the-ear attachment in order to rate 5 stars.)
As an over-the-head style wireless phone, this unit would have rated 5 stars, if only it didn't break!
As is stands, it's a 1 star product because it keeps breaking, but the quick Plantronics customer support bumps it up to 2 stars.
With some effort, works great at home too!

Poor QualityI bought one because it was inexpensive, small, and could accomodate a headset.
Unfortunately, that's where the good part ends. I constantly get static and interference. What's worse, it has started not working at all. About 25% of the time I answer a call, I can hear the caller, but they can't hear me. Another 25% of the time, the line is just plain dead.
I own two Panasonics and the quality is perfect... all of the time. And they appear to have worn well over time.
It works well.
Best cordless phone I've ever ownedUnlike the dozen or so other cordless phones I've gone through over the years, this thing is durable, has consistently good sound quality (I never encounter static) and a long-lasting battery. I routinely leave it off the base all day (and talk on it a lot) and RARELY does the battery run out on me. And here's another BIG PLUS: it's a comfortable phone to hold or craddle. And I love the compact but chunky size. I really can't say enough good things about this phone. In fact, the reason I ended up writing a review here is because I was shopping around for a second one to buy.
