Don't waste your money
The price is low and so is the quality. I had a 900mhz Uniden for several years that I was happy with. So, I bought this thinking I would like it too. Uniden went cheap on this one. It even feels cheap. The sound quality was bad. It had a popping noise whenever I got a few rooms away from the base. So much for 2.4 GHz clarity. I sent it back to Amazon (who, by the way, was GREAT about taking the return and refunding my money).

Still Searching
I bought this phone after looking at Comsumer Reports ratings and opinions on Amazon as well as other sites. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as well for me as it did for other users. I get constant interference and clicking noises, even when I try switching channels. The cordless I had before had a terrible battery life (the battery life on this phone is excellent, btw, which is part of why I gave it two stars), but my old phone rarely got interference unless the microwave was running. It also seems to be causing a lot more interference on our baby monitor than our old cordless. I've read a lot of good things about Uniden, so I'm planning on returning this one to try another model.

A good phone for the money
After about two months of using this phone...

The good:
• Handset is lightweight, comfortable to hold.
• Five ring options available (2 ringer tones at 2 volume levels, plus "off").
• Easy to program the speed dials!
• Dial any number on caller ID with one touch.
• Rocket dial - a special "speed dial" that you use often, such as calling your voice mail inbox. Particularly nice is the option to program a "pause" between strings of numbers, which may be necessary when navigating through menu options.
• Easy ear volume control
• Time length of last phone conversation displayed (but disappears a few seconds after hanging up)
• Looks good
• Normally great reception all over the house, even downstairs, except...

The bad:
• Occasionally, when in one spot in our living room, we hear a tic..tic..tic. Some sort of interference, but not sure what since there are no electronics or other obvious objects in our living room that would cause this.

My recommendation: READ THE MANUAL before plugging in this phone. Get to know the features and you will love it. I have had nothing but bad luck with recent cordless phones, but this time I made sure to FIRST read about battery charging, maintenance, etc. and so far so good.

Poor sound and range outweigh the useful features.
The features looked to be a great match but the audio quality was a complete letdown. There was a constant hiss transmitted to the other party unless I held the mute button. The phone would drop the connections or fail to answer when I walked more than two rooms away.

I worked with the Brother help-line but none of their suggestions were successful.

I returned the unit and bought a Uniden 2-line DSS.

Not recieved yet
Waiting for my phones, have 2 observations: A. Amazon.com was BY FAR the least expensive, easiest to work with on the net, other's prices don't come near. B. After sweating this decision, and researching for a week, I discovered on the brother home site, that more than 2 wirless units need an extra "black box" to work 3 or more phones/lines at the same time. I spent the extra $130, just wish I'd known when I made the first order.

So Far So Good
I'm not sure what was wrong with the other reviewer's phones, but my first test of this system at home went quite well. I walked out of my house and to the side walk and still got good reception.

PIECE OF JUNK
Lousy piece of junk. NO range. My old Panasonic (handset got rained on) had a good 1/4 mile range. This won't go 100 feet. Ringer volume does not adjust. And today I picked it up after a week in the cradle and it went dead in 15 minutes. At least now I get to buy a new phone. I had this for five months and will not miss it.

best deal going for basic 2 line
This is a good phone for the $. I have had for about a year and it works real well. I had a sony 900mhz and it was junk after a year. I need a second one to replace the sony, but can't find it anymore.

Good phone for the money
I have a few sony high end phone and this is comparible but not nearly as expensive. (...)?

Mine works fine and I can walk randomly throughout our 3 floors.

Flimsy and it died quickly
I got this phone directly from Uniden and it died after 5 months use. Like the previous post, nothing in the troubleshooting section worked, and it was out of warranty (90 days), so in the garbage can it went. Also, the casing on this phone is pretty cheap... it looked to be in worse condition than my 7 year old Sanyo phone.

It died in less than 6 months.
It was a fine phone, while it lasted. After about 6 months, it worked only sporadically, then died altogether. I followed all the suggestions in the troubleshooting section of the manual, but nothing worked. I won't be buying another Uniden.

Do something with caller ID information
There are very few phones that actually do something with the caller id information, other than just display it. This phone allows up to 30 names and numbers to the memory list. Each can have their own ring tone. Now when a call comes in with the standard tone - I know it isn't someone on my special list - I may not make the extra effort needed to get to the phone. The sound quality is good on both ends and over the speaker phone. The interface/set up is very easy.

On the minus side: when a call comes in and if the number is matched to someone in the phone memory list, the selected ring tone will sound - but the name displayed is from the Caller ID info - not the name programmed into memory. 50% of the calls I get are from numbers behind PBX exchanges (or equivelent) where the caller id name information is generic ("California Call", "Wireless Call", etc.).

I'd recommend this phone to my friends - but this isn't the "end all" phone for me ... I'll keep looking at new phones with more caller ID features.

Useless
I had high hopes for this product but between the fact that you cannot adjust the ringer volume separately for each line and the annoying delay on tones when you dial a number, it isn't going to me much use to me unless I find a location where I can hear the appropriate bells ringing from another phone and don't ever have to dial out.

Beware: The hold button doesn't work as expected
In addition to the annoying delay when you dial numbers, when you put someone on hold with this phone, and then take the call on another phone and then you hang up, the VT4121 doesn't release the line. You need to go to the VT4121, and pick up and then hang up the line. VTech support says this is normal, and they tried to tell me that all phones behave this way!

Great phone
I am very pleased with this phone, it didn't cost alot and it seems to work very well. We have eleven of them in our house. I use the intercom and paging features alot. It doesn't have call waitig with called ID(which is no big deal because I don't have call waiting, I have other incoming calls forwarded to another line). The only thing I wish it had that most other phones like this have is a battery back-up. If the power fails, I have to reset the clock on each phone. Other than that, compared to other 4-line phones, they were a bargain. I got them at different stores over time between $50-$80 each.

poor design
the phone itself and the caller id features work well, but putting buttons on the back of the handset is really dumb. it's very easy to inadvertantly push one of those buttons when holding the handset, and propping the phone between your ear and shoulder is a virtual guarantee that you'll do things like put people on hold unintentionally

Poor Performing Phone
I have owned this phone for over a year now and it has had numerous problems with the caller id. Now it will show the caller calling but as soon as you pick up the phone it looses it's memory. If you have had 5 calls between the time you viewed it last and when you come home you better view them all because they are ALL GOING TO DISAPPEAR as soon as you lift the handset. I can't figure it out for the life of me why it's doing this. I have had problems with it since I got it and wish I had taken it back as soon as I found out it was problematic. Would I purchase it again - NO WAY.

Excellent wall phone!
Have owned this phone for almost a year. Sound quality is exceptionally good. I have it wall mounted in kitchen (over a DSL line filter)...with no need for a separate power cord. I replaced a traditional wall phone which kept falling off the wall. This phone stays put and takes up much less space. Keypad is on the inside of the handset. Caller ID works great. Easy to read...especially nice if in the middle of fixing dinner. I highly recommend this phone to anyone considering it.

junk!!!
they just die....twice in less than a year!

Best Choice for Alarm Clock
I've been using this product for a year. And I have to say it is one of the best alarm clock / phone that I have used. I was looking for a clock radio first and then a phone, and this product is the best match for this price. The alarm is definitely loud and there is no way that you can sleep in. The time display is very bright and clear. I can see the time clearly without putting on my glasses although it's placed pretty far away from my bed. Another good thing about the clock feature is that it is very easy to adjust the time and the alarm compared to similar products on the market. One little drawback is that the sound quality of the radio is not as good as it could be, although the speakers are very loud. However, it's not my primary concern since I mainly use it as an alarm clock instead of a radio. I do not agree that this product breaks easily. I have dropped it a lot of times and it did not suffer from any damage at all. I have compared this with other products that have similar features.and this is the BEST and CHEAPest radio alarm clock / phone combination.

Amazing radio phone
CID-402 is a multi-functional phone serving radio and clock functions. I bought it few months ago, and it could HELP me alot. I can set the radio as the alarm in order to wake me up in the morning. When I hear the radio,it means I should get up. Also, it has the SLEEP function. I think the phone that attracts me the most is the shape and design of it. I like the design so much. Though it has strong features, it is still designed as a slim phone. It just takes me a little space to place it. Consequently, it is indisputable that CID-402 is a really good phone. You should buy one.

Bad Phone
Reception is acceptable. Caller ID window is very small and the text font in it is incredibly small. After four months the speaker starting going in and out during every call. Sometimes the speaker would go out for a couple minutes at a time. Now I'm back buying another phone, not GE this time.

Don't waste your money!
We have had this crappy phone for one year. and its like we had it for 6 years. it won't dial the correct number, it makes loud funny noises, you have to press the key pad very hard to dial, and it doesn't last as long off charge like they say...

Great Purchase
I am very happy with my purchase. The best part about the phone is the headset. The quality of the headset is very good. I also like the message-waiting feature. The phone will blink when you have a new message on your voicemail. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone.
