it was good untill the stick intena broke
Good all around phone
not bad, I've had worseThe problems: 1)The screen starts going out one line at a time. A friend of mine has one that did the exact same thing.
2)The antenna bends very easily. I thing mine came loose inside the phone because now sometimes it shuts down to channel search. Especially when someone is trying to call and you can't answer because the phone won't work at all. (This is probably my own fault for letting my one year old get a hold of it.)
If Vtech could fix these problems, I'd buy another phone from them. I've had this one for over 3 years and have never had to replace the battery.

a waste of money
Pros & cons of the GE 2.4 GHz Dual Handset Phone - 21006GE3I chose this particular phone system mainly because it was priced better than other similar phones. The better security of the 2.4 GHz frequency and especially the DSS (Digital Spread Spectrum) security feature were also a deciding factor.
My biggest concern is the sound quality. Though it has great range, I register a slight hiss as though I'm calling long distance. I also hear a few clicks now and then, though very infrequently. I cannot rule out my immediate environment as a possible cause, but since I am not in a densely populated area, I find my environment an unlikely candidate. The quiet hiss is present between handsets as well as on calls, ruling out my phone line. I've turned off all my electrical equipment with no improvement. The hiss is so slight that it is easily tolerated.
This would be a good phone system for both business and home use. However, I believe it is not expandable beyond two handsets. Both units have a nice small footprint. You can page both handsets from the base to find them. It has the typical functions of flash, redial, mute and hold. You can transfer calls from one handset to another, telling your co-worker who is on the line before he or she accepts the transferred call. Intercom and conferencing are also possible. The number pad and talk buttons are big enough for ease of use. The special function buttons are a little small.
There is a special walkie-talkie mode that allows you to talk to each handset independent of the base unit. The only benefit of the walkie-talkie mode over the intercom function is that it allows you to communicate between each handset even if your power is out.
Each phone is programmable independent. You can select from six different rings, or no ring at all. You can adjust the volume (four levels) during a call, though the volume control buttons are small and hard to adjust without taking the phone away from your face. You can label each handsets display (IE - Upstairs, Downstairs, John, Mary etc.).
It has 40 caller ID records and 50 programmable speed dials (max of 24 digits each). The 24 digits are not really a limitation however since you can cascade the speed dials (IE - press DIR 01 to dial your calling card 800 number, then press DIR 02 to dial your calling card access code and then DIR 35 to dial your party). Unfortunately you cannot toggle through the directory list after the first speed dial. In other words, you can toggle through the directory list to your first number (your calling card 800 number) but you have to remember the second and third speed dials by their corresponding number (02, 35).
The directory does not list the speed dial numbers alphabetically; the numbers are listed by their corresponding speed dial number (01, 02, 03, etc.). This is typical of business speed dials. You, of course, can edit the list to be alphabetical, but this is a hassle.
There is an interesting security function call registration, de-registration. This function allows you to de-register all handsets in case you lose one, then re-register only the remaining handset.
I was worried that my 2.4 GHz wireless router for my computer would interfere with this 2.4 GHz phone, but I found no related problems with the phone. However, I have not yet throughly tested my router/computer connection to see if the phone might interfere with it. I want to reiterate here that I disconnected all my electronic equipment in hopes of stopping the quiet hiss, to no avail. I hope this review was helpful.
Great Expandable Phone System for the money.I recently purchased another of these systems (at half the price I paid originally), hoping that I could register the 2 new handsets with the old base unit (this is not a documented function) - and it worked! Now, I have one phone outlet and four handsets - for less than what other expandable systems cost for only 2 handsets.
GE has recently replaced this model with a new updated model, but the older model can still be found if you search the 'Net. I read the online documentation for the new system, and it looks like the only changes are cosmetic and the menuing system is different. So my guess would be that you could use 4 handsets with the new one as well.
Overall, this is the best, most versatile cordless system I have owned. Many easy to use features, decent styling, and it works!

This would be the perfect phone if the battery lasted...This is my second Panasonic 2.4 gig phone & both phones had the same problem. The battery life problems started after the return period. I didn't look into warranty repairs as I hobbled along on the week battery of both phones & made sure to charge at all times except when in use.
When straight out of the cradle I can have as long as one single 1-hour phone call - but with any additional calls, the battery drops the call. It can barely sit out of the charger for one evening (after work & until bed) It absolutely can not sit out over night.
Not really a TRUE 2.4ghz - notice the dual antenaes? After purchasing several cordless phones since then and being dissappointed with them I decided that my problem was that I was not spending enough money.
So I bit the bullet and spent a lot of money on this phone and was dissappointed. It is already unplugged and sitting in the garage, replaced by a lower priced Uniden.
What didn't I like?
#1 complaint had to do with the talk time. It seemed every time I picked the phone up it was needing recharging.
#2 complaint was an excessive amount of noise that I could not get rid of, no matter if I changed the channels or walked to a different part of the house. It would come and go, in and out, and made the phone unusable.
It could be that my heavy electronic gadget laden house had something to do with it, but I think it had more to do with another feature of the phone: dual communication channels.
Notice the dual antennae on the base station?
That is because what you say is transmitted at 2.4ghz but what you hear is at 900mhz. This occurs simutaneously and is supposed to provide a clearer conversation because the two frequencies do not interfere.
One interesting artifact concerning the range is that when you are far from the base what you can hear begins to drop out before what you are transmitting does.
It does, however, have a long range and I am able to walk up and down the block with the phone and use it (call out and take calls).
I do suspect that the noise had something to do with my house because it was clearer once I was outdoors, but maybe your house has as many speaker wires (and wireless speakers), video transmitters and other gadgets as I do.
I usually have good luck with Panasonic products, but this phone is now unplugged and I have returned back to a Uniden 900mhz that is my favorite phone yet. I may try a *true* 2.4ghz in the future.
The Best Cordless We Have HadMy favorite feature is the caller ID and message lights that lets me see someone has called without picking up the phone. (We have voicemail through the phone company, so previously we had to pick up the phone to know someone had called.)
We have dropped it several times and have no problems to report. My husband and I both love this phone. This is my first time writing a review and the first product I have felt warranted my time. Past reviews helped me find this phone in the first place, so I figured it was time to give back!

unreliable phone
Good phone at great price, but some drawbacksThe [ringer] volume settings are OFF - LO - HI. I find the LO too low and the HI too high, but maybe it's just my hearing.
My biggest complaint is concerning the lack of lighting for the Caller ID screen -- quite a hassle when the phone rings at night and a night lamp is not near by.
Regardless, I've kept the phone, and in the end, I think that is what counts.
All around -- Great ProductSetup was very easy, and anyone who can program a universal remote control, or use a microwave should have no troubles.
It's unfortunate that you need batteries, seeing as how many caller ID phones can draw power from the phone line, but it's a small price to pay for a cheap brand-name second phone with caller ID.

- Full duplex conference phone with 2-line operation
- 20-number programmable speed dialing
- 32-character LCD display
- Type II call-waiting caller ID, with 99-number history
- Integrated headset amplifier, hanger, and controls

Just Stopped Working One Day
Nice speakerphone, but...I do think the speed dial and caller id functions are cumbersome and less useful than many other phones. The single-line caller id is less than optimal. The ringer tone is also quite odd. If you've ever heard a Polycom conference phone ring, it's the same type of ring. It's not offensive, but it's not my preference.
Finally, I did have one problem with the phone. When conferencing two parties, the two conferenced parties couldn't hear each other well, though I could hear both of them just fine. Though what I consider to be a great sounding speaker was reason enough for me to keep the phone, the fact that I can't conference folks together is enough of a reason for me to return the phone.

!!!CAUTION!!!
A Waste Of Money
Good Phone...........Kind of........1. You can't add numbers to the Directory from the base you have to use the cordless.
2. BAD menu layout kind of confusing at first.
3. Time it takes for the cordless to access the CID and the directory. Not real long just annyoing.
4. You can't scan a call from the cordless.
5.It has features nothing that makes it stand out from others! not worth the price. Most of them are kind of useless (turning off the speaker on the answering machine or setting up how many numbers the caller ID displays) or not something the average person would use (setting Thee flash length or setting the line mode..anyone know what that means?)
In all I'm VERY disapointed in this phone So I'll be out to find another one tomarrow! Make sure you keep your reciept if you buy this phone. Looks good on the outside but it's kind of rotten when you bite into it.

- 900 MHz digital spread spectrum technology
- Digital answering machine with 15-minute recording time
- Digital duplex speakerphone
- 2 lines, dual keypads, and simultaneous base/handset calling
- Caller ID/call waiting with 50-call history

Nothing but problems, No more Panasonic at home.
Very disappointing performanceWhen the connection is good, it's very good, but it often decays as you converse, whether or not you're moving. The incoming sound begins to break up and you're required to manually search for new channels by pressing a button on the handset. This includes a noticeable delay during which you cannot hear the calling party, and they can't hear you.
Given the ballyhoo about 900 MHz and DSS, one would expect this to phone keep a clear, steady connection - but it doesn't, even when you're in the same room as the base! The supposed superiority of this system, and the extended range it supposedly provides is useless without being able to handle the simplest of situations. Perhaps other manufacturers have better implementations of 900 MHz DSS? One can only hope.
Disappointing--Volume is too low on the caller's side, and there's no way to improve it. They simply have a hard time hearing you.
--Range is poor, compared to other 900mhz digitals, and it suffers from dropout, up to a second or two, even when close to the basestation.

- 900 MHz analog operation for extended range
- Base keypad with speakerphone
- Up to 7 hours of talk time and 7 days on standby
- Tapeless, all-digital answering machine records up to 18 minutes
- 3 message boxes

piece of junk!
The phone is excellent; the digital answering machine poor
No problems with this phone.
