buy it for looks not for functions
Whoever wrote the specs for this phone was obviously copying text from some other fancier phone since most of the features mentioned are NOT included with this phone. Also please note that the review by Lynnaye is apparently hogwash written by a paid representative of this company (see this person's other reviews and you'll see what I mean. Cosmetically its ok so feel free to use it as a prop.

Not Quite what Amazon says it is.
I bought this item thinking it had music on hold, like Amazon says in its description. However this phone does not even offer the basic hold feature -- let alone a music enhancement. I also checked the instruction manual and it makes no mention of it. This phone also does not have the "flash" function, as the description says. You have to press the switch hook in order to check your call waiting.

However, it does offer the ringer on/off option and is tone/pulse switchable. The redial feature is activated by pressing the gold circle in the middle of the "dialing pad".

Overall, this phone does not have all the features that Amazon says it does. But if you want an interesting looking, cheap, no frills phone, to put in the extra bedroom, this might be a good choice.

you didn't get the only bad apple
thought the phone looked very cool. liked the price too! but when i opened the box....it was missing the spot to attach the phone line. so the other reviewer did not get the only bad apple.

Maybe I got the one bad apple....
but the phone I received had nowhere to plug in the handset.
There was just one jack on the bottom of the base where you plug the phone into the phone jack.
Did I get the one bad apple in the barrel?

Good deal
At this price what were you expecting? Well this phone delivered more than I expected, with volume adjustment and nice looks. Drawback is how your voice sounds to you (or maybe I DO sound like that?). Good value, good 2nd phone.

Terrible reception
I bought this model on sale at a local store.... I liked the features, but the reception (sound quality) was terrible, a lot of static.
It is way worse than in a 900MHz phone that I have, the type one can now buy for $9.99.
Needless to say I returned the phone and now I am looking for a better one.

FAIR AT BEST
1. CALLER I.D.: The first reviewer was correct! The caller I.D. is messed up! It does NOT show you the calls in order! It'll tell you ie. 3 new calls, but if they've called you in the past, you have to scroll thru all the phone numbers and look at dates & times that people called. THIS IS HORRIBLE! What takes 2 seconds on most phones takes you several minutes to do with this phone. I want to know who the new calls are right NOW, not in 10 minutes after tremendous eye stress trying to scroll thru 50 numbers to see who was a new caller.

2. MEMORY: There's only room for 50 numbers in memory, not 99 as I read (I believe on Amazon).

3. SOUND: The speakerphone is outstanding, one of the best I've heard yet! In addition, people said they can hear me very well. Lastly, the handset is also good quality.

SUMMARY! While the speakerphone was great, I did return this phone. I simply cannot live with the stupidity of the way this caller I.D. works! Thank you!

great features - poor performance
On the good side: this phone has an amazing array of features at a reasonable price.
On the bad side: the range is TERRIBLE. If I go to the next room, less than 15 ft away with no source of interference, I start hearing annoying clicking sounds. Sometimes this even happens when I'm right next to the phone. If I go outside, still only 20 or 30 ft away, the phone stops working completely. Now, I happen to have aluminum siding, which the manual warns about, but, EVERY other cordless I have owned worked just fine outside for 300 - 500 ft, at least several houses away.
Another minor annoyance: For some bizarre reason, reviewing the caller ID memory does NOT show the calls in the order that they were received. I have to press the review button maybe twenty times to see who the last caller was. I dunno. maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Bottom line: Avoid this phone. I do not recommend it.

Not a keeper
This model worked OK for about 9 months, then the caller ID quit working. It would work for a short stretch and then go out. I agree with the complaint about the volume, also.

Looks Better Than it Operates
The two phones are handy, and the wired base station is great to have as backup during power outage. However the speakerphone volume is too low and the recording quality poor. Also, there was distortion while speaking on the wired handset that was bothersome. Lastly, my family complained of "echo" and inconsistent volume while speaking on the instrument, wired or wireless.

Less than satisfactory
While I was very pleased with the overall design of the phones, the implementation just didn't impress me enough. A few of the "soft" buttons on the handsets didn't work properly, which made programming the phones or working with their advanced features very difficult. More importantly, there seemed to be a high signal to noise ratio while actually using the phone, even after moving the base station to different locations. I guess 2.4GHz is just too crowded, at least in my apartment. I ended up returning the product after 3 days.

It may be pretty, but it's junk. I cannot recommend.
I was in the market for a new message machine, since my 1990 AT&T tape machine broke. Sound quality, above all, was the most important quality for me. I scoured the web for something that would get the job done -- the Swatch seemed to fit the bill. Not so. I am appauled with the sound quality. It is very bad. Both the outgoing and incoming messages are muddy. Don't confuse volume for clarity. The volume can reach high levels, which is nice. However, because the messagesare so muddy, it is very difficult to hear what is being said, despite playing it at a high volume. I can't believe that some company can't manufacture a DIGITAL answering machine that is high quality, and sounds as good, or better than a tape machine. I'm willing to pay for one if it exists. Sadly, the Swatch is not that machine, and I CANNOT recommend it to anyone.

Disappointing
The machine's features are attractive and closer to what I wanted than any other answering machine I could find. However, the machine cannot detect those irritating computer-dialed calls, and records a blank message minutes long. Today I had 14 of those. Sometimes it does not hang up the line until after the Bell system voice comes on asking "If you want to make a call please hang up and dial again . . ." The machine is also a bit of a challenge to program, and the voice programmed into it is a woman's voice speaking British English with what sounds like a slight Chinese accent. At least it's interesting and a bit exotic.

Little fuzzy but works fine
It sounds like an answering machine, not like voice mail. The accent is a cute touch. I haven't had any trouble retrieving messages remotely.

v9118 bad phone
I had the v9110 first and this is the phone vtech replaced it with. It is the worst cordless phone I have ever owned. They are replacing it agian with another model, but they don't give you replacedments for the quality of the one you purchase originally.
The 9118 has bad sound quality, 1/2 hour talk battery life and doesn't pick up right away when you answer the phone. My opinion is the phone sucks!

bad sound quality
I bought one with $15 rebate, sounds like a good deal. But the first one didn't work at all. I went back to the store and replaced with another one. This time it works, but the sound quality is pretty bad. I can still hear the other party, but the sound was very much distorted.

Its Cheap and it works
Does this phone have bells and whistles? Of course not its a $10 cordless phone.

Does it work, yes!

It works better than the 2.4 Gig phone I purchased to replace it when the battery started to get weak.

I still use it at work, where it sits on the charger all day, so battery life isn't an issue.

    BE FOREWARNED!!!
I bought this model three months ago and the handset stopped working last week. It drained the battery that was in it and a replacement that I put in. AT & T's so-called "customer service" number was totally automated and useless. This is a piece of junk!

    decent for the price
Okay, I have had this phone for going on 3 years now. It finally bit the dust recently, but it hasn't been without it's share of annoyances.

    1. The base has flashed low battery for about the past two years now although the battery was fine and the phone also worked fine. Go figure. It was something we learned to live with and guests always commented on.

    2. You cannot travel too far from the base without severe static. I could not go past my porch when outside or I could not hear my caller.

    3. More recently (prior to it's death)I had complaints from the person I was calling that they could not hear me. This may have been a symptom of it's impending doom.

    4. Every now and then you would try to make a call to hear this annoying "uh uh" sound, like "no way."

    5. About a month ago the answering machine would not let you retrieve messages. I had to use the handset to hear them, but now even that is disabled. I also agree with another reviewer that stated you cannot use the answering machine and phone at the same time which can be inconvenient.

Overall, I guess it depends on how long you expect a phone to last and what features are most important to you. I never had much of a problem with it holding a charge or cutting off my caller which other models have had. I should also mention that I have three very young children so it hasn't gone without it's share of abuse. I would rate it decent for the price.

    Worthless phone!
Decent looking phone however the ringers are so whisper quiet---even on the HI setting---that you cannot hear the phone ring! I first bought this phone at Best Buy, returned it for this reason. A week later I found it a little cheaper at Staples so I thought I'd give it another shot in case the first one was defective. No dice---same inaudible rings. Definitely avoid this phone!

    Nice Home Office Phone
This phone is working very well as my home office phone, and it is getting a lot of use. After trying a really cheap phone and being unhappy with it, I spent a little more for this and have been very pleased.
    - It has more space than I'll ever need for programmable numbers (32) (though the sequence needed to record a new number is not particularly intuitive/memorable).
    - It saves programmed numbers when the power goes off. (It saved all my numbers for several days during a move.)
    - It has an Auto Redial button, also a nice timesaver.
    - The Mute button works well.
    - It has Speaker, Handset & Headset options, which you can switch between at any time.
    - It allows you to adjust the volume of what you are listening to (with enough range to work well for me).
    - Handset has a nice heft, fits the ear reasonably well, and decent sound.
    - Keyboard feels reasonably nice and has stood up to a year of use. .
    - Speakerphone has good pickup from two feet away.

I have found only a few disadvantages. The phone beeps when you switch modes (to speaker, for example) and when you adjust the volume. You need learn to use mute *beforehand* if you don't want to create a distraction during a conference call. Also, I have tried a couple of different headsets with this phone, and consistently hear that my volume is too low when I have set it as high as possible, which makes me wonder if there is a phone issue with that.

I don't use two lines, but it also has the capacity for two lines, with hold and conference buttons.

    The headset didn't work!
I did everything the instructions said, including installing the 4 AA batteries before attempting to use.. But for some reason, when I plugged the included headset into its port, the speakerphone shut off like it should have, but there was no sound in the headset speaker. When I picked up a different phone, I could hear what I was saying into the headset, but no sound was coming out of it.

Also, when using the speakerphone, I noticed that the sound had some "quiet intervals"; the sound would stop for a second or two. This became very annoying, so I just gave up with this phone altogether. I plan on returning it.

    Decent Phone
I bought this phone so I could have an inexpensive home office speakerphone. It's serving its purpose, however the headset is really difficult to use. I do have very small ears, so that may be the problem, but it's still annoying. Also, the phone only runs off batteries--no AC cord.

I've only been using this a couple of days, so I can't say anything about long term reliability. But, if you have big ears :) and are looking for an inexpensive phone, this one might work for you!

    Poor quality phone
Wall-mounting is difficult, the sound quality of the answering machine is poor, and the answering machine circuitry fried before one year of use.

    Not the greatest quality
Answering machine voice quality poor; handset soon shorted out from static electricity; no hang-up feature from handset. I don't recommend this one.
