Go Video quality is poor ...
I purchased last years same model and the VCR quality is noticably poorer then my 3 yr old SONY VCR. also the VCR recording can not record weaker signal stations. My sony would record it but the govideo unit would just end up with garbage.

Disappointing User Interface
Go Video removed the capability to play Video CD's (VCD) from this model, compared to their pre-2003 models. Why?

Secondly, there is a critical flaw in their 'human factors' when they designed the remote control: While playing DVD's or CD's, to fast-forward, you have to press and hold the fast-forward button. If you just press the button quickly, it resets the movie to the beginning. What a pain in the neck.

Third: I still haven't figured-out how to change the display to show the track and time for a CD. The default is a counter that counts the seconds of the song, but you have no idea what song you're on.

As a Mechanical Engineer, the poor human-factors design of this remote gives our profession a bad name!

Amazing DVD Player for playing DVD+/-R
I bought this DVD/VCR Combo for $119 and it works amazingly well. The DVD player works better than my Cyberhome 402 and the VCR plays flawlessly. The standard Universal remote that comes with it is better than most DVD players supply today. The buttons are a decent size on the remote and can control most TV sets.

This unit really shines when it comes time to play DVD+R and DVD-R discs recorded on a home computer. I had VHS video tapes that I recorded to my computer and then transferred to blank Verbatim DVD-R discs. I also have one movie on a DVD+R disc. This DVD player plays them flawlessly, while other brands may not play these discs at all.

This unit is an excellent bargain and functions better than other brands I tested. Other brands I tested were Emerson (which could not play DVD-R), Panasonic, Toshiba, Samsung and KLH. The KLH plays DVD-R and DVD+R and is also very expensive, but the Go Video unit is the least expensive of the combo DVD/VCR units that I have actually used that can play everything I put into it.

Defective x2
We bought this product before Thanksgiving. It worked OK at times, but would get a bar across the screen at other times. We exchanged it for the same model. The second one didn't work at all. The DVD cover would not lock, ran loud and could not play the movie. We are returning it and looking for a different brand.

DEFECTIVE
I purchased this item in Albuquerque. I played a DVD in my hotel room and discovered that after about 30 minutes, multiple white bars appeared at the top of the screen. I took it back to Circuit City and looked at 4 other identical players and they were all defective. I tried different DVD's and the same problem occurred. I took my original unit home to Kansas City and took it to Circuit City there and tested another Initial player and had the same problem. I ended up buying the new 7" Sony. It was $200 more. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

The best one From Initial.
I previously owned their model IDM-9520. That did not last long. It lasted me about 1/2 a year. This one has lasted me 2.5 years. This one is a hell of a lot better.

don't waste your money on a Samsung HT-SK5
The HT-SK5 is a lemon--don't buy it. Although the sound quality is great, the audio doesn't match the video when you're using a digital input, like digital HDTV. So, the lips don't match the words on any digital stations. It made it impossible to watch any HDTV programming, which essentially was why I bought it.

After 3 months of dealing with Samsung's poor technical support, including shipping the product back to Samsung, I learned from Samsung that they can't fix the problem, and they don't have a replacement product that would work better. The only thing more frustrating than the audio sync problem was Samsung's awful technical support. The staff was poorly educated about their own products, they never returned calls or e-mail like they promised, and seemed to have no concern for their customers. Don't waste your money--in fact, Samsung treated me so poorly, I can't recommend buying any Samsung products.

Agree on the product, but LOVE the support
Yes these particular set of speakers are not that great, sounds are shallow and lack depth that even $100 PC game system could deliver.

Like thousands other videophilles, I also am a proud owner of the 61" Samsung DLP. I must say, I (and thosands of others) seem to all agree that sammy's customer support are 5 out of 5 top notch and none better.

In this day and age, saying you will never buy samsung product is like saying you will never buy a
Porsche form that garage again because they couldn't fix your metro geo.

EDIT:
Apparently, they run special divison for their high enb products. I call in about a problem with their 400 dvd player and I was treated with the same great services as with my 5 grand TV. However, my first call was made via a google-searched 800 number, and that was horrible. If you want good service, call the speical number provided with the warrenty card. Seems they only want to roll out their "5 star support" for ones with deeper pockets.

What a great deal. Klipsch Speakers compare to Bose
There is no delay, as another review claimed. (Delay is adjustable, based on speaker placement) Excellent sound reproduction. This was a good deal at $500 plus. For $299, it is a steal. Klipsh Speakers are unbeatable, even by Bose standards.

Give me a break
I bought this player and I'm on my third one right this moment. This one has just a white screen and no picture at all. I can't believe they would dare sell this garbage. Try a diffent brand...I am.

Product is Great, But Brand Leaves alot to be desired!
I originally purchased the GVP7811 model of Govideo player. We had trouble from day 1. Since we did not buy it from an authorized dealer (we had never used amazon before) we did not have the manufacturers warranty. I wrote the co. asking for a discount on a battery pack if I were to buy the DP7030 model. They emailed me back with the standard price without so much as an "I'm sorry" the first unit failed. The only good thing their cust. svc. dept did was tell me to buy the DP7030 instead of the GVP7811. The GVP7811 model is 2 years older and the specs are identical! $100 saved!!!
7030 has same specs. as the 7811 but, alot of nicer features, you can now remove the battery pack to charge or play the dvd without it attached by using power cord. Better sound, same EXCELLENT quality picture. Govideo did tell me had I purchased from amazon or other authorized dealer, they would replace the unit free. Ya live and learn and thanks for 2 DAY FREE SHIPPING AMAZON!

Progressive scan
The progressive scan is software configured ( through the remote) and only works through the component video output section of the player. It will not run through the s-video output. If you wish to use it as a regular player through the s-video then it's ok but you may wish to pay the extra bucks for one that outputs to a variety of outputs.

KOSS DVD PLAYERS
DON'T BUY IT! I bought a KOSS DVD player and it broke in 6 months. I was told I was out of luck because the warranty is only 90 days. They do not do repairs. My only option is to buy a new one and wasn't even offered a discounted price for it. I have seen several complaints like mine about KOSS on the web. They make JUNK and they make it to last just to get past the warranty period and then it breaks. Oh, by the way I loved it until it broke.

NOTE: No LCD Monitor on this model

      Why doesn't it fit?
I waited an extra week for delivery of my portable DVD player because I got this special package deal for a case for my portable DVD Audiovox DV1680, why doesn't it fit in the bag? This is most ridiculous combo ever created. This is just the biggest waste of my time, after playing tag for hours with UPS I now have to make arrangements to send back this perfectly good unusable piece of "...". I am not refering to the workmanship, just the fact that this case is of absolutely no use to me. A word of advice, please don't order the Extra-Value"less" Combo.

The Player Doesn't Fit Into the Case
I bought both the Panasonic DVD player and this case that is paired with it for a low, low price. The DVD player is about 1 inch too big for the case. The case doesn't close with the player in it. Since I can't find dimensions on any of the cases, I don't know which one is supposed to fit the DVD player.

      Don't buy the case.

IF YOUR DVD PLAYER DOESN'T FIT.
I have the Panasonic DVD-LV70 and obtained a carry case from Panasonic, that will fit and carry the DVD-LV95, with plenty of room to spare. You can find it at: (...)I have this case with it's protective and accessory space. Get one,you won't be sorry.

      Poor performance, rude tech support
This device never performed adequately on the laptop I originally bought it for, a Pentium MMX166 with Zoomed Video, 96 MB RAM, and running Windows 95. This was within the requirements, but only just. Still, it performed VERY poorly (probably showed about 2-3 FPS, at best).

I bought a much newer laptop, a Pentium III 500 MhZ with 320 MB RAM and 4 GB VRAM: way, way above the requirements. Worked marginally in Windows 2000, but XP did not like the driver when I updated. Tried several different drivers off their confusing download page, no luck.

So I call their tech support. The guy starts spitballing stuff at me ('try this driver', 'try that driver'), clearly at random. I had turned off AutoPlay, which I've heard can cause problems, and turned off digital audio. These had both improved the play of DVD's, but not much. He never even mentioned these steps. I politely asked for the issue to be escalated, he began screaming at me, inexplicably accusing me of demanding a new driver (which I never did, though it's not a bad idea), and hung up in my face. I called back, got the same guy, he again began screaming at me, told me there wsa no one but him working at EXP, called me a fool, and hung up on me.

So, if you enjoy being screamed at, lied to, abused, and personally insulted, you can hang around with my ex-fiancee, or you can buy a product from EXP. Both are about equally painful.

      BIGGEST PIECE OF GARBAGE
This slow, loud, very tempermental portable dvd player is not worth the aggrevation of purchasing it. The box it came in was more usefull to me than the DVD player. It is slow and was dropped once from a bed to the floor and then refused to work which was ok with me cause when it did actually work it was sluggish and had a mind of its own, if it liked a particular sceen in a movie it would play it over and over again or just freeze up or the sound would not be in sync with the movie, like watching the old chinese karate movies. I finaly ate my losses and threw it across the room. My advice take the [money] and buy something nice for your special someone, not on this piece of crap.

Took a Chance and its Better than I've Thought!
This portable DVD player is very light weight and easy totransport. The installation was flawless. This DVD player performanceis awesome. I've tried other well-known brands, but this one have a better price and better performance in video and audio.

      Recommendation: Strong Buy END

      what a mistake. NEVER AGAIN
TV works fine, as does DVD. Six weeks after we bought it, the VCR unit didn't work. Wouldn't accept tapes. Sent it for repairs, gone two weeks. Got it back, worked fine for another few weeks. N ow it's broken again. And guess what? Panasonic says that, since it's over 90 days, the labor charges are our responsbility. We'll see about that.

Great for a year, then: IMPLOSION
This product worked fine for a year. Then, one night, a series of pops and bright flashes on the screen became more frequent during the course of two hours. Finally, they became rapid-fire and the TV died! I had had it for 13 months. Happily, I bought it with AmEx and they will repair or replace it under their double-the-warranty protection plan.

      Panasonic a great product
This television has a great picture and the ease of operation between the TV,DVD,VHS is fantastic.
The owners manuel is an encyclopedia (lol) but pretty easy to follow. To be honest the hardest part was converting the Panasonic remote control. I still haven't figured out how to make the cable remote work on the Panasonic remote. But that being the only problem. The picture and options on this television is fantastic. I have a 52" TV in the living room and I watch the Panasonic.A great buy............

        Lasted 2 months
Great price for good sound, but discs would get stuck inside.

Died after 2 months of use. Taken 1 month to repair.

        Not user-friendly
I bought this RCA RTD300 home theater system because I have been using RCA products for years and felt good about them. Less expensive, but we've seen good quality, and RCA has the easiest VCR programming in the marketplace. We have a 3-year old 36" RCA TV and a nice older Proscan VCR. Decided to get into the world of DVD and buy a combination home theater/VCR/DVD unit, thinking it would be a good transition. NOT! The remote controls between the older TV and this new home theater are apparently not compatible, and that's unforgiveable. Also, the remote control on the RTD300 system is not your typical RCA universal remote, and lacks the features and ease of use. Bad layout, it's totally confusing and nasty. Give me a break! That's the main reason I bought it, hoping to pull it all together in one easy package! The instructions for setting up the RTD300 are screwed up, too,the text does not match the diagram. I'm not stupid. 3 days later, I still can't get these RCA components to work together. It's ridiculous and I am extremely disappointed with RCA at the moment.

        For the price...
For the price it is definitly worth the investment. It provides great sound quality for such low power output. As far as the set up instructions go, they looked pretty straightforward to me, although I did not even need them to set up the system. Wires are color coded and everything else is clearly labled. Any confusion in the set up is due to incompetence on the users part. As far as the remote goes, I agree with the previous reviewer. The remote is pretty much worthless, which is why I went to wal-mart and bought an All 4 One remote that is much smaller and more efficient. With the money you save buying the system, you have no reason to complain about having to go and spend $12 on a new remote.
