Daewoo DSC3470N Digital TV
Like the tv. However, after about a month the color started to fuzz when things moved on the screen. Also a green discoloration formed on the edges.

Contacted an authorized service center. They and I have been calling Daewoo technical support for the last two months trying to get some kind of information to fix the TV. Daewoo does not seem to support its product or to return calls to its service centers or its customers. If you believe that customer support as a part of what you pay for (especially for something that costs $$$) then you want to buy Sony, Toshiba, anything but Daewoo.

Awsome
This is the best TV I have ever owned, I don't know how I was able to live without HD TV. I would definetly buy from Daewoo again. I will never buy a non HD set again. I did my homework before the purchase and this was the best deal I could find on a set this large with an HD tuner in it.

HDTV for an Analog price.
This is the most incredible set I have ever owned, it arrived from Amazon and was installed into my home, they even took away the trash, and my old busted set for me at no additional charge. They did tell my they usually won't take away the old set but said they would since they had a big dumpster. Regardless the picture quality is awsome on HD broadcasts, and it appears to me that regular TV looks better as well. Colors are bright and crisp. I have not had any wierd problems like the other reviewers talk about. I have had the set now for two weeks and have had it on allot. I am a very happy camper, and will definetly be purchasing more Daewoo products in the future, especially if the price to value quotent is as high as it is on this unit.

Useless for video games
I dont know why would someone buy this television. I wanted a big screen television for a new X-Box console, but you cant use video game systems on ANY projection screen tv because it will ruin it for good, and then you money will go down the tube. This is just a warning for all of you wanting to buy a projection screen tv for a video game system. DONT BUY ONE FOR THAT PURPOSE, otherwise its an ok tv.

my one beef with pioneer...
the "gray bars" that appear on the sides of a standard (square) TV image. Like when a movie is in widescreen, there are BLACK bars on the top and bottom, making the picture ever more viewable. Well, for a widescreen TV, a standard image has those sides to fill, so pioneer decided to have LIGHT GRAY bars which, in theory, make your TV last longer because the projector burns evenly. But this is lame because no matter what projector you buy, your going to have to replace the bulb in 5-7 yrs anyway. I would've gone with a plasma, but if you've ever seen an in-store display with plasma TV's (running all day for a few months), it becomes obvious that plasmas burn out even faster than projectors. Still, there is nothing like watching a movie on my pioneer. It is one of the best ones that you can buy, the image proves that. So, I do love it and opted for the pioneer above a 40" Sony Wega. But, if your going to watch TAPES or play GAMES, get a picture tube that will last 15 yrs. I've owned my pioneer for a year now, and already had to turn up the brightness by 4 notches, which does make black colors suffer. I estimate this TV will last me 5 yrs.

Mitsubishi, Sony? Don't make that mistake!
I have owned this TV for almost a year now and just recently added the RCA DTC100 (HDTV Reciever) to my system, WoW! You can't do better then Pioneer tv's. Recently I had a visitor to my home and he said "Why is your picture so awsome?". This person spent...more then I did on a Mitsubishi HDTV needless to say he was VERY upset. If you have the chance, BUY ONE! You will not be disapointed...I have had great success with my game console (sony) To bad Pioneer does not make one.

Second thoughts
This product is truly designed for owners of digital cameras with various types of memory cards. The image quality on large format HD screens is quite impressive.

Downside, you have to have a compact flash card and reader in order to import the updated software. Looking at prices at Amazon this could cost more than half the price of the unit itself. This is a serious shortcoming for this product and my reason for a average rating. I have still not been able to get the unit to work on either of my networks using Windows XP.

Most people keep their photo's on CD's and a CD slot would have been a great feature, even over the assortment of memory card slots they provide. I would believe that most images are moved from memory cards to hard drives and cd's for long term storage and later viewing making a CD drive much more practical.

Very good product, although a bit too expensive
This is a very well executed product.

After using the Prismiq MediaPlayer for six months (which I have now sold off on ebay), this is a godsend. Even my wife can now use the Roku HD1000.

* Component Video Output of upto 1080i (this is a plus for me as I have an HDTV, although this may not be an important feature to you if you do not have HDTV) -- finally some justice done to my digital photos. Actually, the UI is more readable as well because of the higher resolution.

* Very good UI, although some some features (better playlist navigation, auto-playlists or sort by artist/album/genre etc) are desperately needed.

* Open platform, SDK is freely available. Opens door for 3rd-party developers

* No special server software needed, other than SMB file sharing.

* The company engineers (including the CEO) seems to be listening to the customers and coming up with useful feature updates.

* The only negative feature is its price. At $500, it seems a bit too expensive.

Hi-Res HDTV pictures, MP3s, easy-to-use, and inexpensive.
High-Resolution HDTV output looks fantastic, for both pictures and
menus. MP3 player displays ID3 tags and can play in the background
while you do other things (like watch a slideshow). The user
interface is clean, minimalist, and easy to use. It finds shared
content on networked drives and inserted flash cards and they appear
in the user interface automatically. Unlike the competition, it
requires no proprietary server software: just plug it in and you are
ready to go. And it costs about the same as competing products, but
none of them provide HDTV output.

The only drawback is that the remote responsiveness is slightly worse
than other electronics, though programming a learning remote from the
supplied remote makes it better.

Avoid Samsung and stay happy!
My Samsung TXN2775HF worked fine for 8 months until the CRT failed. It has been in the shop under warranty for almost 3 weeks with no end in sight. Samsung Customer Service is an oxymoron. They provide conflicting information and their supervisors happen to be "out of the building" when you need to talk with one. To spend this much money on a product, have it fail after such a short period of time, and then have Customer Service seem unwilling or unable to do anything about it says volumes about a company.

WOW!
Cheapest priced 16:9 HDTV monitor out there.

Not cheap in quality either

Fabulous Picture and Sound
This TV has the sweetest picture one can imagine, crisp, deep and the color choices can please most anyone. The sound from the side firing speakers can be adjusted to suit even the most discriminating audiophile. Remote operation is simple (read manual first). DVD picture quality is outstanding and VHS is enhanced to a new level. Great entry level HDTV!!!!

pretty good but
this TV has a good picture, its easy to set-up and the price is not bad.But i also bought a sony at the same time for apx the same price. If i was to shop again i would buy 2 sonys next time.

I'll stop by to help you with connections!
People who write that their VCR-through-old-analog-TV picture is better than progressive scan DVD though this gem of a HDTV are really only telling you that they don't know how to set up their new TV!!

This TV has good sound and a great DVD picture through the component jacks. Also, according to Consumer Reports, Toshiba has superior HD picture and excellent reliability, usually for significantly less than the other all-around high quality brand-Sony.

Impressive...as good if not better than the Sony
Got the TV about 2-3 weeks ago, could not decide to spend the extra on HD vs. non HD. In the store the difference is obvious....Toshiba and Sony are head and shoulders better, and we cound not tell the difference between the 2. Heavy to lift, but great value. Now just need to get the HD reciever for the Direct TV.

Toshiba Flat screen HDTV
I purchased the 36 inch Toshiba HDTV. However, the picture set up is not good. The pictures bows from the center to the edges. A straight line towards the top or bottom of the screen noticebly bends to the corners. It becomes even more noticable in the HDTV 16x9 mode. I have had it serviced by one Toshiba authorized repair shop. The service technician told me there was nothing he could do after bringing it into their shop. I will try other repair shops, for $1400 the picture should be perfect. If I had purchased locally I would return the TV, but Amazon does not allow returns on large TVs.
The final word from Amazon customer service and Toshiba: I have spoken with the Toshiba technical support and they have informed me that this is a normal occurance and that the bow affect you are experiancing is a common in this type of TV and that it is within their specifications.

Therefore, the Toshiba 36HF73 36" Flat-Screen HD TV is not defective and we will not be able to offer further assistance or allow the TV to be returned for a refund.

people submitting bad reviews for different products
"Therefore, the Toshiba 36HF73 36" Flat-Screen HD TV is not defective and we will not be able to offer further assistance or allow the TV to be returned for a refund. "

a) This is NOT the 36 inch, it is the 32.
b) ALL 4x3 tubes will have some bowtie effect on widescreen films, and before buying I looked at all in the class and the Toshiba 32 had the LEAST!
c) you are reviewing the 36 and placing the review in the 32. 3" in a tube set is at the very limits of consumer engineering for tubes. when looking at a widescreen film on a 36' tube, even the best in its class like the toshiba, you are the most likely to get a bowtie. read any information on the variety of choices, ie: largest tube (36") plus widescreen film = bowtie.

HDTV in decent size and price
This is my first HDTV. I have very good regular TVs (with a recently retired Proton that had a picture that was truly exceptional). I would love to spring for the 16:9 format, and the real impact and fun are at the 40 inch or larger realm. So this 32" version (32HF73) was the choice at $999 over Christmas. We have HDTV signal through cable (have not tried over the air HDTV). Only a few options for us at this point: networks, 2 HBOs, 2 Showtimes, and INHD channels. Since this is a 4:3 screen, movies are viewed through letterbox on the premium channels. Showtime is reduced slightly from the full screen (cable installer said that was Showtime).

The picture is really great, even when a network isn't broadcasting in HD (which is often the case for the regular networks). I am told that is changing. I have had digital cable for some time and Cinemax has a spectacular picture. Showtime has never been as sharp as Cinemax. So the analog to HDTV was never a shocker via digital as an intermediate. But this tv delivers all channels in a more pleasing form and appearance. There was a tremendous change to HDTV in both picture quality and apparently in sound as well. At this time, I use the tv speakers, but the Toshiba has some good processing to deliver increased audio dimensionalty.

High points of the conversion, besides picture quality: multiple component video inputs (so a dvd player can be added), easy changing from a normal 4:3 to a letterbox shape (networks often display better without distortion as a 4:3 rather than letterbox), easy connection to cable and set-up, and improvement in all ordinary signals (analog or digital). The last could just be the construction of the tube and masking qualities.

Low points: slowness in transitioning from the analog signal to an HDTV signal of the same program content (I was trying to do an A-B comparison but my memory fades during the wait), fundamentally 32" is too small when in the letterbox format (not that I have any better choice at home, but my expectations were raised), bad for me was the $100 price drop to $899 I just noticed (good for you), and, if I inadvertently turn the set off, I need several steps to get back to the proper HD feed input. It would be nice to set defaults to go there automatically (perhaps there is, but I haven't found it as yet).

My entire family really likes the picture. It falls short of the large screen blast (not Toshiba's fault). If you want HDTV now, it is a great $900 option. If you want a more overwhelming hit: get a larger screen. Cable HDTV costs extra (a new cable box and service). The 57 page manual is very good, but it doesn't elaborate all the time on choices and why you'd choose one setting over another. More technical information is available at the Toshiba website.

As a postscript: delivery from Amazon was problematic. It comes by freight and the freight company was in no hurry to deliver it. Not an Amazon fault. So it was in town for awhile before I could arrange delivery. Arggh when you can hardly wait for delivery.

Toshiba does not care about their customers
I placed an order for a Toshiba 40H80 on July 8th and my television arrived just a few days later on July 12th. There was no physical damage to the box, but after opening it and plugging it in the TV would not turn on. Although the television never worked Toshiba said they do not have a policy of replacing products. They will only repair a defective item. I called every authorized service center in my area (one was on vacation) and the other two were both working on another Toshiba widescreen HDTV doing the same thing as mine (power light comes on solid for a few seconds and then blinks - no sound, no picture)and could not figure out what the problem was. My television could not be picked up by a service center until July 23rd at which point the technician told me that based on his experiences dealing with Toshiba it would be optimistic of me to hope my TV would be back in my home, working, in two weeks. Still, regardless of the fact that my TV never worked and should not be expected to work a month after it was delivered, Toshiba refuses to send a replacement. Eventually the TV will be repaired and brought back to my house. I will have a broken machine that has been hauled out of my apartment, down a flight of stairs, strapped to a trailer with no packing materials, driven across town, REFURBISHED, and then made the same trip back into my apartment. I paid for a new machine and will have a beat-up, refurbished machine. Toshiba is not interested. I would like to include impressions on picture and sound quality, etc....maybe in a couple of months, eh?

Don't believe bad reviews, those people are lame.
Ok, I know that the title is harsh and I don't intend to be mean, but if these people have problems with the picture they must be lame. I have had my 40H80 for over 2 years and it has been absolutely flawless.
The most critical thing with any RP set is to converge the colors and set up the tv properly. After the initial convergence was done the set held a perfect picture. Only after I had to move the set did the picture need to be re-adjusted. My buddies Mitsubishi needs converging every couple of weeks. The Toshiba filters and mirror assemblies are the highest quality available for a set under $6k.
I have a High Def DirecTV set up and when tuned to HDNet or the PBS HiDef feeds every single person who has seen it is blown away. Even my buddy who has the top of the line Mitsubishi projection admits that the true color and viewing angle are better with the Toshiba.
I cannot recommend this set enough.
There are no weaknesses with the Toshiba. If you do not like the stretched image of an NTSC feed, then you can just keep it on 4:3 format. But when there is a quality DVD in widescreen with 5.1 sound or a true Hi Def feed, you will be blown away. The only downside is that you will never be able to enjoy a lesser picture again, like at bars, neighbors, etc.
Hope this helps. Research knowledgable resources before you buy any electronic item! Never rely on a salesperson or their opinion!

Great TV
I love this television. The picture quality is incredible, the sound is great. The size is perfect for me - I live in an apartment with a smallish sized living room, so there isn't this monstrosity taking up every inch available. It is easy to operate, and the instruction manual couldn't be easier. The different picture modes really make it adaptable to my preference. great buy.

Piece of garbage
I wouldn't buy another JVC product if they were the only company on Earth. I purchased my TV in Nov of 2002. It had to have a part replaced in Feb 2003! Of course, it had to go in the shop for two weeks until the part they ordered was received.

In all, there have been about 5 service calls, with 2 trips to the shop.

First, the TV would shut itself off. No, I didn't have the AutoOff function turned on. Then we noticed the clock was way off all the time (it would lose several minutes a day). Then, sometimes when we turned the TV on, there would be sound with no picture. We had to unplug the TV for several minutes, then try again.

Finally, after all that, the TV appeared to be fine, until recently when we noticed the menu would go all pink. The picture was fine, just the menu was off. I was afraid this was a symptom of a larger problem, so I made yet another service call. Once again, the TV is in the shop, and has been since Dec 1st.

Now my initial warranty period is over. I expressed concern to JVC but, in typical fashion, they spouted the company line.

Question: how many times does the TV have to break before JVC realizes that they sold me a lemon and should replace it?

Warning: never buy from JVC. They are crap.

A beautiful machine..........
A beautiful machine, we spent days doing our research and decided on this model. The size is perfect, the picture is outstanding. The only drawback is the gaurd does give off some glare. We stood back and watched the customers go by it, to see what the reaction to this model would be, they stopped everytime to watch this model in action!
Watching DVD's is a whole new experience and an exciting one!

Excellent piece of equipment
I've recently purchased this rear projection television and I'm very impressed to say the least. I've owned a Samsung 40 rear projection prior to this, which was also a very good TV, but nothing compared to this JVC bad boy. Some nice features include a DVI jack for future (some present) digital connections, a center channel input (although I've tried it and the sound is less than acceptable, perhaps its my receiver), numerous multiscreen displays including dual tuning for split screen, and most importantly exceptional picture quality. I believe it's the internal line doubler that creates such sharp pictures, or so they say. The clarity is really astounding for a projection TV, and what's more, the clarity is not limited to HDTV broadcasts, but the picture on regular cable is amazing as well. Let's face it, most of us do not spend most of our TV viewing time having access to HDTV broadcasts and receivers. Albeit a fortunate handful, but for the rest of us this television has excellent picture quality across the board. I highly suggest watching the Monsters Inc. dvd with a player using component connections. The clarity is breathtaking, many picutres truly appear to be 3 dimensional. But instead of relying solely on reviews, go out to your local electronics store, and take a look for yourself at this television against other manufacturers. And don't listen to large chain store electronics sales employees, they don't know what they're talking about. Happy shopping!

Worst brand and poor customer service
Toshiba Projection TVs are the worst in the market. And when calling their customer service, forget it. They are just too ignorant and clueless as to how to resolve any problem.

Bad quality and customer service
After the 6 month of possession, this TV went down miserably. Oneday, while I was watching the tv, I heard the 'pop' noise from the speaker and the picture went out. After a second or two, when the picture finally came back on, I noticed the semi-transparent vertical streaks across the screen. The artifact was like watching the tv through a screen door. The picture still goes out time to time but the vertical streaks remain the same.

Toshiba tried to have someone come out to repair the tv for 3 month without success (couldn't find a repair shop near by Topeka, KS). After I filed the complaint to AG's office and BBB, Toshiba finally decide to give me a refund but it will take another 4 more weeks.

When this tv works, it works great but now I have serious doubt about this product and Toshiba's customer service (one of the worst I've ever had). I just hope that nobody has to go through what I have been going through for the past 3 months.

Old model
This is a 2 year old model and the new model is $[money]less and is alot better. Model number on the new one is 65HX81, it is now called the cinema series, and it is toshibas top of the line. I own the 50 inch model and it is awesome. If you buy one, make sure you buy it from a dealer with ISF certification, that is needed to calibrate the set after a burn in time of 3 months. It is usually around $[money], but if the person you buy it from has the certification and the equipment, it might be free. Mine was. All projection tvs need to be calibrated after burn in, then every 1-2 years. Picture quality is greatly increased, and so is tv life. Only ISF trained people with the proper equipment can do this. Wait to Buy this!!!!
My tv was delivered 30 days ago and it has already broken!!! The bulb, which is suppossed to last 10,000 hours, has gone out. My husband did some research on-line and found lots of people complaining about this problem. The authorized repair facility is trying to find out from Panasonic if it's a problem with the bulb or a deeper problem with the tv. The picture is great and I would like to rate this a 5, but a $2700 tv that breaks after 30 days qualifies for a low score. In all fairness, I will update this once the problem is resolved. I just think we should have waited a year or two for them to resolve all issues before purchasing this item.
We ended up exchanging the tv because Panasonic couldn't give us a time frame on the bulb. The new one has been in place for a week and my husband is in love again. I'm reserving judgement for 30 days.

great picture, but VERY noisy fans and 1 bad pixel
I bought the 50LCX63, same as the 50LC13 except it has an integrated HDTV tuner.
The picture is excellent. Easy to use menus (it probably runs linux code because the user manual has a copy of the GNU license in the back). Well thought out connections in the back.
My screen had 1 bad pixel (always on, blue). It's noticable in menus and playing games, but when watching TV you can't tell. I'm getting it fixed under warranty.
The main reason I can only give this product 3 stars: the cooling fan for the light bulb is amazingly LOUD. If you have a big wall unit that will insulate the TV's fan sound, this would be a 5-star TV for you. The noise is making me wish I had bought a quieter LCD-projection or settled for the older but much quieter CRT-projection technology. I don't have the guts to open up the unit and put in a silent fan like you can in a PC.

The 50LCX63 also makes noise when turned "OFF". It's another fan (for the HDTV tuner). That noise probably doesn't exist in the 50LC13, but you should check. But if you're considering the 50LCX63, it's yet another annoying noise you'll have to live with.

Great All Purpose Movie Viewing
I purchased this 50" LCD Multimedia display for Christmas to complete my entertianment room and have not been disappointed. It was a race between this and a similar Hitachi model, but for the price the Panasonic won. In playing with the various settings I have discovered one thing that may work for others regarding regular cable viewing. If you choose to watch cable channels directly through the TV itself (that is changing channels with the TV remote without the use of a cable box) I agree that the picture looks so-so. However, in playing with the settings I discovered that if I watched TV through the assistance of my VCR (using it to change channels) the picture quality was dramatically increased for cable channels (non-digital) as well as the picture automatically filling the entire screen without distortion. I am not exactly sure why this is so, but it may be in part due to the fact that I have the VCR connected to the TV using higher quality Audio/video (Y,W,R)cables, assisting the overall picture output quality.
