This thing doesn't work! It died suddenly after 2 weeks and we had to fix it by shipping it out of state! Trust me, it's not worth the trouble.

What a disappointment.
Sorry, but I can't recommend this unit. We Purchased this combo for use in the kids bedroom as well as roadtrips. It worked well for the first 4 months - then the dvd went out. While the parts were covered for a year, the labor had just expired and repair was going to cost $150.00 - virtually the cost of a new unit. I wish I had positive things to say about it, but unfortunately we had some bad luck. If you absolutely insist on this set, do yourself a favor and get an extended warranty so you don't take it in the shorts come repair time.

Buyer Beware on This Item
I purchased this item at one of the Warehouse clubs. The price was good and the set worked fine for the first two months. During this time, I did not use the DVD mode on the set. When getting ready to go on a driving trip, I decided to test the DVD portion of the TV. After putting a DVD in the tray, the player would not function. The TV portion and AUX mode were still functioning correctly, but whenever I tried to play the DVD or even open the tray to get the DVD out, the TV would make a few noises then power off. Luckily this happened within the first three months and I was able to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. I would not buy this product again. I ended up replacing it with a similar Toshiba branded unit and hopefully will have better luck with it.

Television
Bought this from a warehouse store about six months and haven't had a lick of problems with it. It's used mainly to watch dvds on. No problems with picture, sound, etc. Satisfied.

it needs an antenna
This radio probably has the same RF tuner as Sony's D-FS601 CD player, but the CD player has much better weak-signal reception. The difference probably is that the CD player gets to use the 3-foot headphone cord as an antenna, instead of only a 10-inch headband. I think the sound quality (on a strong FM station) is fine, and AM reception is OK (most probably uses a ferrite bar antenna like any other radio), TV audio comes in OK probably because TV stations put out a lot more RF power, but weather band reception is nil (no antenna again). I wear glasses all the time, and the radio does seem to accommodate the temple pieces, but the padded wires that go behind the ear lobes to support the radio seem to cut in after wearing the radio for only 15 minutes. I plan to keep this radio, because carrying around a box with separate headphones is a nuisance, but will also experiment with extra padding for the ear pieces and maybe wrapping the end of a 4-foot wire around the headband to see if it will act as an external antenna.

Good sound but fragile headset
I gave this S2 to my mom for Mother's Day. After a few weeks, the very fine speaker wire that runs inside of the headband somehow became unsecured and exposed. It was then accidentally pulled as my mother removed it one day and the fine wire tore, rendering the unit unplayable.
It has been almost impossible contacting Sony for repair. When I finally reached them, the repair costs for this small repair were unwarranted and I ended up purchasing a new unit at a discount outlet. Sony is engineering is good but their service is terrible. This is not a good prospect for a consumer in the long run.

I thought I would need more BUT...
I was planning buying the Peltor WorkTunes earmuff headphones, but I decided to try these first before I sent away for the Peltors.

I can hear the radio clearly while using the riding tractor and weed wacking. I have other uses besides landscaping, so these turned out to be the right ones for me.

Sometimes the reception isn't 100%, but I attribute that to the work environment. I would reccomend these if "ear protection" isn't paramount.

If you like the smell of smoldering plastic... buy this tv!
I bought this tv last Aug/Sept, here it is a mere 4 months later and it is already kaput. The first thing to break was the antenna. It was held in place by a dinky little plastic tab which promptly snapped off after a few times adjusting for reception. Three days ago the picture tube blew and I mean it BLEW. First a puff of black smoke and then the tv nearly caught fire in my living room! I could smell the wires and plastic melting. BUYER BEWARE! This is a real lemon and a fire hazard.

Unhappy customer
I bought this little TV for my husband for X-mas 12/2000, within two weeks the TV will not give us a picture for any station. The first two weeks we thought it was the best product that we bought, but now we're very disappointed.

Don't Buy
Cute tv - very good for the office, but after about 6 months the button to switch between tv & radio stop working. So now I don't have a tv or radio to listen to. Save your money, buy something else.

Worthless TV
This is without a doubt the most worthless and useless TV I have ever seen. Reception is horrible without an antenna, which is impossible to find even with the help of the Memorex customer service people. Memorex will never be an option when I make my future electronics purchases.

TV RECEPTION POOR
I AGREE WITH THE INDIVIDUAL WHO STATED THE RECEPTION IS EXTREMELY POOR. I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TRYING TO FIND AN ANTENNA THAT WILL FIT THIS SYSTEM....WITH NO LUCK. I HAVE ALSO CALLED, AND CALLED MEMOREX DIRECTLY AND FOUND THEM TO BE OF NO HELP. SINCE I'M NOT A VENDOR, THEY WILL NOT HELP ME OBTAIN ONE. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THEY NO LONGER SELL THE ANTENNA THAT WAS MADE FOR THIS UNIT!!! THIS IS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER TREATMENT AND I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH MEMOREX AGAIN. CUSTOMER SATISFACTION MUST NOT BE A PRIORITY AT MEMOREX!!

NO TV reception
This is not really a portable TV because it has no TV antenna. It is made to be connected to an antenna source - like cable. I tried buying a TV antenna but the rabbit ears it needs are nearly as big as the unit which means I no longer have a portable unit that can be carried in one hand - I really wish it came with a TV antenna - I do not understand what the manufacturer was thinking! I won't buy Memorex again.

Works Fine ... For A Day!
Bought it, hooked it up, wow! Great! The commercials aren't blasting us out of our chairs anymore. After two or three days, I seem to be right back where I was before hooking this thing up. The HD channels are whisper quiet, the commercials blast out at 2 - 3 times normal volume. Obviously, this unit has quit working. As one poster said "Use a good power strip" - heck, this is hooked up to a UPS; surges weren't the problem. I'd say poor quality components and bad design.

Terk VR-1 TV Volume Regulator
Does it's job well but will cease to work without the use of a good surge protector.

It quits working after about 40 days.
This devise doesn't last long. I did have a breif power failier in my area but if it is that sensitive, I sure wont replace it. I get no sound going through this devise anymore. If you can buy a simular devise by a different manufacturer, try that one.

I wasn't all that pleased
I ordered this TV a year or two ago, mostly for power-outages. I used it a bit back in my study; performance was mediocre, which isn't unexpected in this price range. The thing broke after a couple of months and I'm buying a different brand now. The controls on this one were very difficult to use--hard to switch bands, etc. Not the worst little TV out there, probably, but you see that I'm trying a different brand when I need another one.

    short life
My GPX 5" portable b/w TV is slightly less than 3 years old and has died a slow death over past four months. First, the screen started to roll and no amount of tinkering with the back of the TV would stop it. This has not been a huge problem since I use this TV largely for sound while I am doing household chores. In the last two months, the on/off switch has become increasingly unreliable. Sometimes I have been able to get the TV to click on but at other times no amount of clicking will kick the TV into gear. Last week, for four days in a row, it refused to turn on (the switch for the radio still works). So I have given the TV a proper burial. Should I have expected more from a $30 TV? I have purchased a different brand of 5" TV and will see if I get more than just over two years of good service from it.

Picture blew after Six Months -- big disappointment
Bought this tv in December. Initially loved it. Fun color, perfect size, etc. BUT THE PICTURE BLEW -- WITH SPARKS AND SMOKE -- AFTER JUST SIX MONTHS OF USE!! VERY DISAPPOINTING.

    Broke after 3 months
It was a great set, but it didn't last; the picture went out after three months.

Don't Go Back In Time, Move Foward
It's the year 2001 And we have lots electronic ablities. LET'S USE THEM!! I only gave the item 2 stars because it has the look of 2001, but as most of us should know looks aren't everything. If we have these tecnoligies we should use them. Why didn't you put color? Why not put black and white? Well most people these days I would say would enjoy siting down with a bowl of popcorn and watching a good movie on tv. (In color) People like it better because you can see more details. Like what kind of day it is. And what a beautiful blue (Color) the ocean looks today. I don't know about the rest of you, but from my point of view this item gets 2 stars.
