Bought for daghter. 3 months later DVD player doesn't work. Phillips service center is terrible!

I received my Philips 20" TV as a service award from work. My kids enjoyed watching DVD movies on it for about one month. We also enjoyed listening to CDs. Now, after only one month of using, the DVD no longer works and I have to haul it to a service center for repair! :-(

I'v only had this YV for about a week but I'm veary happy I got it. the reason I got this one is because Philips TVs last along time and there always ahead of the game with there tecnology.my other set is made by philips,still going strong and I hade it six years wihtout one problem.

I bought this tv and started having problems with it 4 months later, the tv turns itself off immediately after you turn it on. I was upset that it was one month out of labor warranty so I was going to have to pay $80 for repairs already. No one on the customer service lines at Toshiba was underdstanding or apologetic for this inconvenience. I had it repaired and am still having problems with it doing the same thing. Toshiba will not do anything about it until they hear from the service company which means I have to take time off work to drive it back to this service company. And still I have yet to hear one of their customer service reps apologize for sell me a lemon of a TV. I will never by Toshiba again. And I would never recommend them to anyone else that was looking for a TV.

I got this TV for Christmas last year...that would mean it's less than a year old. Well, it's already busted. It was a great TV for a while, but then one day it just wouldn't turn on. It's such a small TV though, so it's not really worth repairing. Now I'm just going to have to invest in a new TV, which is very disappointing, especially since this was a gift.

I ordered MD13P1 TV/DVD combo from Amazon.com They said it would take from 5 to 10 days for Delivery .It only took 3 Days 5 stars to amazon. The discription said it would play mp3's nope notta will not Play them. As for every thing else works just GREAT.

never ever works! I've had this tv for 3 months, and i cant even get a DVD to play anymore. it used to just skip all the time, taking about 10 tries to finally get a DVD to play, now they wont play at all. it keeps giving me the error: please insert a playable disc!!! i even tried putting in a dvd that i watched previously on this tv. its a piece of junk. And i took it to get repaired, the warranty doesnt include labor! and they said nothing was wrong with it. so i wasted fifty bucks for nothing. And!!!!!!!!!!! when i watch tv half the time i dont get a color picture. DONT BUY THIS TV

I bought this TV in Fall 2003. The DVD drawer never opened. After driving many miles to the nearest authorized service station, I waited TWO MONTHS while they searched for the right parts. Now it's February, I've returned the original product to Toshiba, and continue to wait for its replacement to be shipped to me. At every contact with customer service, I've met with sullen and unhelpful people. They do not stand behind their product. I hugely regret buying from this manufacturer and will never again buy from Toshiba.

Bought this item from Amazon 2 months ago at 30.00 less than they are charging now. However, it has a bright, crisp picture and the DVD works perfectly. My large Panasonic skips and misses, but this one is smooth as can be. The picture is great! I keep it on the coffee table and use it always, instead of my 27" Phillips TV. The electric bill has gone down about $20 per month because of this. I haven't used it in the car or carried it around much, but I would have confidence in doing so. The remote works well, but have to hold it up to the light sometimes to read the small lettering until you get used to where the buttons are. I would reccommend this unit highly, just because it works so well.

The tv does not come with an external antenna. Can't use it anywhere you do not have cable(co-ax) hookup. The tech services group only said yes they removed them from the model. The description needs to say it has no external antenna. Can't have it in kitchen or bath which is the ideal spot for a tv this small which is why I bought it.

Bought one unit and it failed after a week of use; power problem. I tried it in different outlets and even on a surge protector, but it kept shutting off on its own. I returned it and bought another one, hoping for better luck. Same problem just happened with this TV. I'm not going back to get another Toshiba TV, and you shouldn't either.

I like the price and size, but after only four months, the DVD wasn't working and I had to bring it to a technician, that took over a month to fix it. Even with the warranty, it still cost almost $100 to fix. I could have bought a new one!!

After extensive product review and comparison, I recently purchased the Toshiba MD13N1 13" TV/DVD Combo for my kitchen and have been very pleased with the unit. It's a snap to set up: just take it out of the box, connect to your antenna or cable system and plug it in........ couldn't be easier. The picture is crystal clear and the colors are vibrant! The DVD player is very easy to operate and the remote is great! A TOTAL WINNER!

I bought this item at Best Buy for more than the Target price. Two months after I bought it the DVD drawer would not open. It was in the shop for 2 1/2 months while I waited for a part to come in and then 2 months later the TV just died. Since the 90 day warranty for both parts and labor has expired the repair shop said it would be a minimum of $42 cost on labor, though parts are still covered. I am sick that I wasted $250 on a TV that didn't even last a year. I will NEVER buy another Toshiba product.

For such a small, compact package, this Toshiba TV/DVD combo has much going for it.

First off, the picture quality is very good, with enough settings to allow it to be adjusted any way you want. I've never owned a flat screen tv in any size, and it does reduce glare quite a bit.

Sound quality is just ok. There are only stereo/mono/SAP settings. No separate bass/treble adjustments like in bigger tv's. But the stereo sound is passable, even when playing audio CD's.

The DVD player is good with very clear picture. Very nice.

Remote control is ok, and like some other Toshiba tv reviewers have noted, some of the colors that a couple of the buttons' graphics are printed with are hard to read. Pink graphics on a light grey remote color just don't make it.

All in all though, this 14" color TV/DVD combo is a great product. I really like it a lot.

I initially purchased two units. One failed intermittently and the other failed completely. I returned the one and received a new one from the factory. It failed within a week. Additionally, the one that failed intermittently has rolled over for good.

The failure of all three was the power. They would all shut off immediately after they were turned on...within a second or two.

I recently purchased this TV. Took it out of the box, turned it on, and it worked extremely well. As with most Toshiba TVs, the picture is very nice, especially for not being a flat screen TV. Also, it plays DVDs quite well. My only complaint is that the DVD tray ejects too slow for my taste, but it only takes a few seconds, just longer than most stand alone DVD players. The DVD player can also be noisy at first when the disc begins to spin. The remote that comes with the TV is set up quite nicely, and the buttons glow in the dark, which is a nice feature, however, you cannot read what the buttons do, just see them. One thing I was surprised at is Toshiba actually provides batteries for the remote. Nothing major, but a nice touch.
Overall, for the price, you get a nice combo TV. It has the excellent picture quality that most Toshiba TVs have, and the DVD player that is bundled with it works very well. You cannot purchase a nicer stand alone 19" TV and a seperate quality DVD player for a better price than this TV. I highly recommend it.

I really beleived in Toshiba. We had 1 TV that lasted 15 years without a single problem. This model was exactly what I wanted,
for about 3 months. The DVD player quit. Into the authorized repair shop, 6 weeks and the parts were still not available. I suggested it should be replaced. I shipped mine back, $120.00, and they shipped a new set. Great service I thought. The DVD has quit again 6 months later. I quit! I can't face another fight or expensive return. Skip this model!

I purchased this tv combo, last October, 2003, when it was first available. I shopped around, extensibly, for a complete unit, in the under $500.00, price category. My real problem was how large the units were, other brands, that I checked out were LARGER, than the Toshiba. I was using the TV in a space that couldn't be adjusted for size. This is why, I rate it 4stars, and not 5, because even though it was a bit smaller than the others, IT IS STILL TOOOO LARGE.
Everything else is really good about it. I'd call it a QUALITY PRODUCT, and the AMAZON price is great, plus free shipping; hard to beat.

Got this TV combo delivered today. The DVD tray wouldnt even open the first time! Mechanical defect...Looks like Apex doesnt even do proper quality assurance. Now I to go through the hassle of repacking it and returning it thru UPS. AVOID!

The price was right, great picture, however, I was able to use it only once. The DVD stopped working on me the very next day. I was lucky, that I could send it back at no charge. Now I am getting Sylvania TV/DVD/VCR, but now I am afraid, I may be dealing with the same problem - I was reading review on it. It looks like all this TV/VCR/DVD combinations have some bugs.

Great unit for any room. Picture is great and having the DVD/VCR built into the unit makes for a great space saver. For the $$$, buying a FLAT SCREEN TV with all of these features is well worth it.
