great price and 2 year warranty
Bright and BoldInternal amp for speakers is fine. The Virtual Dolby does give good impact to the 2 speaker sound. For DVD's I use my separate surround sound system. One thing Samsung forgot on this model are audio output jacks to connect internal tuner sound to your surround sound system. So many other inputs, I don't know why they forgot those outputs.
This is one of the few Plasmas that comes with a 2 year warrenty in home! The appearance of the TV is perfect in our home and looks great on or off. We are likeing it soo much, I will probably buy one for myself now that I have seen and used it my home.

Great Price, Great TV
Amazing TV
- Trinitron Wega flat screen minimizes distortion for sharp images

- TruSurround stereo provide theater-style audio
- 2-tuner picture-in-picture

One word...WOWHeres the catch, the stand. It cost me 219.00 bucks. Im not sure how much you can find it for, but that is the proper WEGA stand, custom made by SONY for this TV. Let me say...it is one SOLID stand and LOOKS like its worth over 200 dollars. It really does make the presentation. The cheapest quality stand you could find will still run between 99.99 and 169.99 anyway. So I suggest doing as I did, and just going for it.
Another issue is the weight of this thing. It's easily 240lbs, some websites claim its more. If you plan on taking this home, your gonna need someone with an SUV or a truck, the box is enormous. I would suggest getting it delivered so you can have them put it right on the stand for you. Me and my brother are weightlifters, so we didnt have too much of a problem getting it in and on the stand , but I would suggest ATLEAST 3 strong people. All the weight is in the front, too.
When your past all the setting up, your gonna be happy with your TV. The audio out connection is easy for a home theatre system. I connected a Sony system, and Im attempting to dual connect Klipsch 5.1's.
So youve read about the TV, what are the differences in the different models of 36 inch WEGA?
FS100- basic model, cheapest, no PIP, No 3d digital comb, No Tru surround sound...basically lacks important features.
FS200- Adds PIP, and other basic features, but very similar to the FS100.
FV300- This is the model I bought. PIP, 3D digital comb, free infared headphones (which allow you to listen to TV from a distance), etc etc etc...it's loaded.
FV500- HDTV model, includes all features of the Fv300, but adds the somewhat "gimmicky" HDTV feature. It looks nice but you'll need an HDTV sattalite connection, or some other form to use it. ALso, not all stations broadcast HDTV. It is TV of the future, but its not here yet. Save the 500 bucks.
Sony XBR- A step above WEGA, HDTV capable, and 40 inch. Runs double the price of the FV300.
Ok, I just wanted to provide you with some insite after my purchase. I'm happy with the Fv300, and I know I made the right choice. Cant beat SONY, Trinitron, and WEGA all in one. I've got two trinitron computer monitors and I was SOLD on the TV just as quickly. They are the best.
An owner's opinion...The picture quality is outstanding. The filtering creates an image that will amaze you. Lines of resolution are almost unnoticeable and dot-crawl is minimal. We hooked up our digital cable with S-Video and the picture is excellent. I even saw a hint of pixelization during movement on one of the digital channels. This is of no concern because we don't have the HD converter box, but that shows how close this set comes to HDTV.
Used the component hook-up for our DVD player. WOW!!! You can get buy with S-Video here but you'll not acheive what this TV can do for you. (Pay a little extra for the component cables!) Sony allows you to select either a 16x9 enhanced mode or Auto for widescreen dvd's and I've found the auto mode allows a bigger picture in widescreen with no sacrafice in picture quality.
There are multiple sound and video modes fore each input to tailor each program, so you don't have to mess with settings constantly. Once you get the Clear Edge VM (velocity modulation) and the DynaBlack settings set the TV never stops blowing you away.
The sound is impressive! It has a 15-watt subwoofer for deep bass when using just the tv speakers, but I prefer my Yamaha theatre system most of the time. The wireless headphones were a nice surprise! The quality is better than expected but the range is limited. These are great for watching those late night games when everyone's asleep. (sports fans, are you awake?)
TV broadcasts through cable, particularly live sports, are simply outstanding. DVD signals are even better!!! And you can't find better sound from a TV anywhere else.
Unless you want to struggle with an HDTV (at least until analog signals are outlawed), BUY THIS TV!!!!!!!!!
(Advice: ...have it delivered, it's worth the money.)
Cheers.

Nothing beats a Sony !!
The best 27" TV I've seen. When arranging delivery, bear in mind that this set is quite heavy (around 100 pounds); so you probably won't want to tackle lifting it yourself. On the bright side, this makes it burglary-resistant. :)
I had to look long and hard to find something I actually disliked about this TV, but I found it; the on-screen menu options are a bit awkward to use, since they're quite overresponsive to the buttons on the remote--unless you have a very light touch, you may find yourself moving through two or three menu items when you only meant to move through one. But this is a small quibble on a truly excellent set.

Great Flat Screen
Nice HDTVThe TV provides a couple of video connectors, a couple of ColorStream inputs and a couple of output ports. For the highest possible picture quality, you can use the ColorStream connection between your TV and DVD player. If your component is not ColorStream compatible, then use the S-Video connection.
There are many combinations of components that can be connected to the TV.
The manual explains them all and here are some highlights:

Great T.V.
Great TV for all shapes and sizes!(a) Great picture tube
(b) multiple input formats (Component Video, S-Video, Coax)
(c) An easy to use onscreen menu for switching
(d) Good track record for reliability
I was astonished as to how well this tv held up in all 4 areas. The picture, particularly through s-video or component video, is fantastic (actually, the screen is almost flat! If you want to get an "almost-flat screen" TV that is not considered a flat screen, this is a good buy)! The inputs on the back are VERY clearly labeled, and they correspond brilliantly with the onscreed menus. Simply hitting the "input" button on the remote toggles me between my cable, DirecTV, and DVD signals. The sound is the only thing that was not not instantly an "ooohhh". It's not bad, but it isn't as good as the JVC 502. In the long run I plan on using this TV with a dolby digital surround system, so that really doesn't matter as much to me. The picture and ease of use were way more inportant to me. With regards to reliability, this TV held up quite well according to Consumer Reports online.
Great TV, probably your best buy until the price of Hi-Def plasma TV's get below $4000.
Sweet TVAnyways, on w/ my review, I believe Toshiba to be one of the best in electronics period. They build excellent quality components. Sony is good also, but are clearly overpriced & sometimes even overrated. This TV comes w/ the better "cinema series" universal (backlit) remote. A complete one year warranty including both parts AND labor. 3-line Digital comb filter. FST Black CRT w/ Invar shadow mask. It's also loaded w/ Inputs for all your A/V gear, this includes: a component video In, 2 rear S-video Ins, 2 RF, and 3 A/V Ins(1 front). What more could you ask for (at this price) ? Compare other brands for this size TV, features, and price. Did I mention that it also has a 2 tuner PIP ? Sweet. Rock on Toshiba!

superb tv
Great Value1. Cable image quality depends on ur signal. Your results may vary.
2. DVD / Component input image quality is simply superb. Fantastic pictures.
3. Lots of manual tweaking options.
4. Sound quality is good.
5. Relatively small cabinet.
6. Widescreen not worth the premium it commands.
Hope this help.
LOVE IT

Great buy and pictureBack to the unit:
1) Previous reviewer correction - the output resolution cannot be controlled by the remote, but directly on the front panel. This is a small (-).
2) Signal strength meter very nice and handy when directing the small indoor antenna.
3) Nice squelch action. DTV signal is either ON or OFF.
4) Remote cannot control my Samsung DVD, but can do the Toshiba TV. Likewise, my Toshiba TV remote cannot control the Zenith STB, but can control the DVD!
5) 10dB attenuator. You use this in series with the antenna (F) input when scanning for channels. I tried the scan with and without the attenuator. With the attenuator, I got 11 channels, 10 without.
I bought my unit "new" on EBAY. However, the supplied A/V cables and component cables were cheap. I bought new ones (not Monster) for the unit.
You can operate this unit without a remote. What you lose is password access to program V-chip menues. Everything else can be done via the front panel. I don't know if a cheap universal remote can change these channels on the HDV420 unit. After set up, all you need the remote for are channels, and maybe aspect changes. To change the output format, you are on your feet and pushing buttons, and can do the aspect there too.
Let me tell you, DTV 480p is like good cable that kicks 480i OTA (booty). DTV 720p and 1081i is HDTV kicking 480p butt. Get an HDTV monitor, and a HDTV receiver. For me, it is now ALL FREE!
Great Unit
VERY nice unit
