Zenith C35A26 Keeps Shutting Itself Off!
We've had this tv since May 2003. Intermittent problems began in August. The power stays on, but the screen goes blank and sound is gone. At times, the picture and sound will come back within 5-10 minutes.

The bug is still intermittent, sometimes occurring 5-6 times a day, but it never fails when a repair technician is present.

Any suggestions or information on known bugs affecting this model?

    Zenith 36 WOW!
I bought this TV in the past week and it is amazing. Sorry it is being dicontinued but it was really my gain. Zenith is making a very quality product. I love it, WOW!

    Very Pleased
My husband and I bought this for Christmas, and we are so glad that we did! It has so many menu options for picture quality as well as sound quality. We reviewed Consumer Reports, and they recomended the 32 inch Zenith, they did not review the 36 inch Zenith in this article. We decided that they are so similar except for the screen size, that we could not go wrong. We were right! This is a great TV for everyday TV viewing. Overall an A.

    Zenith R40W46 40" Rear Projection Hdtv-ready
An excellent choice for those on a budget who want in on the surging market of hdtv's. It has enough inputs to cover dvd, vcr, cable box or satellite receiver. Easy to switch aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3. Did have some problems due to no explanation of which audio feature was best among the selections available. The picture is a bit fuzzy seen from extremely close range, but fine overall quality. Bought this tv as a second hdtv for the bedroom and it "fits the bill". Excellent "bang for the buck".

    Okay for the money
Bought this TV in early January. The box itself is very attractive, not bulky and very easy to set up. It has handles on the back and wheels on the bottom that make moving it around very easy for two people. My wife and I were able to move it all around our living room with ease to get it in the right place. I was dissappointed with the picture. It is not as sharp as I was expecting. We just watched the super bowl on it and the players, numbers and certain details from the mid- to far away camera angles are blurry and fuzzy. When the camera views are up close, there is no problem, the picture is very sharp, but from a distance it appears to be out of focus. While it is still early, I guess I would say for the price it is a good buy, but in retrospect, I think I would have spent the additional money to get me into the next higher quality category.

    awesome
THE BEST MONEY THAT I HAVE SPENT IN YEARS. EVERYTHING ABOUT THE TV IS PERFECT, AND THE 2 REVIEWS THAT I SAW ON THIS TV ARE TOTALLY WRONG, GREAT PICTURE AND SOUND. IF YOU WANT A HD TV IN WIDE SCREEN THEN BUY THIS ONE.

    Good but has some issues
The TV has a nice menu and colors look vivid. There is only 1 S Video input. However there are two issues with this TV. First, when in compressed widescreen mode, there is a visible gray horizontal line right above the viewable area that stretches across the entire screen. Second, the corners of the TV suffer from blurriness. The blurriness is most noticible when displaying text. This may be an issue for you if you like to watch DVDs with a lot of subtitles or watch shows which have a lot of text like Bloomberg Financial TV.

    Good value for the money
Like most consumer sets, it needs a bit of setup. The contrast was set to 100 from the factory but needs to be set much, much lower to prevent distortion. Turn off the auto black level adjustment, and turn on warm color temperature, for DVD viewing. Once adjusted, the picture looks great, better than a similarly-priced set I bought only a few years ago. The flat screen is a great feature at this price point -- it does seem to reduce reflections. The resolution seems very good -- DVDs looked great. I have the feeling you could get a better picture, but at this price range, I feel that it's very good, and it probably would be considered good by anyone except perhaps by hard-core home theater enthusiasts. (I hope that is sufficient hedging! :-) )

At the risk of contradicting the description -- my unit only has 1 S-video input, as far as I can tell.

The only real complaint I have is that when you use the squished "wide" mode, there are horizontal colored lines just above the viewing area (within the top black bar). If I can get past that, this seems like a great feature that I hope to make use of!

    Audiovox VOD806 Overhead 8" TV-DVD Player Combo

Not sure if worth the money
I bought this and had it installed and within the week, it stopped working. I had it replaced and had to add an extended warranty because I'm not sure how long it will work. The 8 in screen is great. It is annoying to have to select the FM reception each time it is turned on to hear it. The screen doesn't close very easily into unit. I haven't had any problems with the Audiovox video in a bag so I thought I'd give their DVD system a try. It's only been a week, but it's still working.

      Traveling Movie Theater Works Great
I have this DVD player installed in a 2001 Suburban. It fits and looks great with the optional Audiovox overhead console for the Suburban. I opted for that so I wouldn't lose the back seat air controls from the original overhead console.

The unit is easy to operate and works very well. Its screen doesn't close easily and I probably would have thought this to be a defect if the installer hadn't mentioned it when he was showing me how to operate it. A 16:9 screen would be cooler, but for the car the screen size is just fine.

The only problem I've noticed is that it seems to have problems handling imperfections (scratches/fingerprints/debris) on a DVD. It sometimes gets stuck (i.e. pauses) at certain points in a movie. So far this has only happened on DVDs that have visible scratches, fingerprints or debris on them. Skipping forward a little works to get past the problem. Since these same DVDs work flawlessly in our home DVD players and any flaws in the DVDs are very minor I've thought about taking this player back for a replacement. But, since it hardly ever happens I'm okay with it.

Our kids (4 and 2) really like having this in the car. We recently took a trip across the state and when the kids weren't sleeping or coloring, they were watching movies. It was the first long trip during which we didn't hear the "are we there yet" chant from the back seat. The kids were totally content.

      Watch out for Daewoo Tv's
I purchased a Tv similar to this from Best Buy about 4 months ago and I have already needed to take the tv into the repair shop. After being on for about an hour it begins to get a fuzzy picture. After another hour it is impossible to make out faces. This was just the beginning of my problems.

I got the list of repair shops off of Daewoo's website and was surprised at how many local places could repair my tv. The first one I called refused to even work on Daewoo tv's. The man told me that they had been telling Daewoo for the past year to remove them off of the list but they had not. I called every one on the list and the only place I could find that would honor a Daewoo Tv was over 2 1/2 hour drive from my house.

From what the guy at the repair shop told me was that Daewoo TGv's are known for breaking shortly after purchasing. He also told me that he usually has the Tv for a month or two! The only way to contact Daewoo is by fax and usually it takes one or two weeks to hear back from them and then the part is usually back ordered.

I enjoyed the TV very much until it broke. Just remember that you get what you pay for.

      Great little television!!
I just picked this 20 TV up a few days ago at BEST BUY.. got it for 150 bucks.. on the recommendation of a sales person there.. they were right.. great picture.. well worth the price.. they have a 27 inch for only 299 dollars.. I may pick one of those up for an extra for the basement family room...

        TV Great VCR Not
I purchased this tv/vcr combo in February and in June the VCR, during fast forward and rewind would stop, shut off the TV, and eject the tape. Took it in for repair and a microprocessor/voltage problem is too expensive to fix. So now I just have a TV with a VCR that can only PLAY. I would not recommend this set.

        Outstanding
Great Color and picture. One of the best televisions i have ever seen.

        Not ready for prime-time
I got an inVoca remote control as a gift. I have three main problems with it:

        1) In many cases you find yourself yelling the voice command 2, 3 times till it recognizes it. Some words are simply impossible like "Fox". Others like "turn on", "turn off" are too similar for
        it to react accordingly.

        2) Once it does recognize a verbal command, it is very slow in terms of processing it (especially if you compare with the normal punching-the-button time).

        3) Once I was sick of yelling at it, I decided to use it just as a normal universal remote. Then I got really sad, most of the useful buttons are tucked inside the unit. You have to slide out an auxiliary internal unit. However, the unit that is bulky to
start with, becomes too cumbersome since you end up holding a 15" remote.

On the bright side, there is one aspect that I did like a lot:

As I said, one potential great thing about it (that does not have anything to do with the voice interface) is the fact that it can learn high level commands -- macros -- which allows one to do a bunch of low level commands with a single button (like switch the TV tunner to an aux input, turn on the VCR, and start playing it). Actually, you can potentially associate this task with a voice command (assuming you can make it recognize the command).

In one word, seems to me someone rushed this unit to the market just to release it in time for the Holidays. However, it needs a bit more of engineering to make it more convenient to use.

        Invoca Perfect
The Invoca will work 100% as advertised. The problem is that in order to get it working perfectly, I had to use some techniques
I only learned through experimentation. These things are not in
        the manual.

        Great picture, but........
The picture is great (and that's my first criterion for a television) and the 2-tuner PIP is easy to use. My only complaint about this model is the A/V inputs. There are only two and they are both on the back of the set. With a DVD, VCR and a camcorder, I come up short! It seems like once a week I'm having to push the entertainment center away from the wall to mess with the cables!

Nothing exciting, but a solid product nonetheless
No, this is not a sexy product. It's not a flat-screen , it doesn't have component inputs, it doesn't have front AV inputs, it only has one S-video input, it doesn't have a 3D comb-filter or an invar shadow mask. But why dwell on what it doesn't have, when it delivers such a great picture and suberb sound for under $1000?

If picture for price is your bottom line, this JVC model is the best in this price category.

        Worthless
This product will arrive defective. It is not a true 27-inch TV as the so-called regular TV viewing mode of 4.3 gives you 2 inch black bars on the side, and stretches the people vertically. If you go to the other modes, either the people are squashed vertically or the sides are smeared in a blur. When you complain to Westinghouse they will ignore you. When you tell Amazon they are sending out not only defective, but misrepresented merchandise (27") they will advise you to sell it to some other poor sucker on their website so they can take more money from you.

        Great
So far so good iv'e had this unit about one month and I'm delighted so far.
Strengths: Great picture(Awesome), compared to plasma tv's, not much of a difference. Sound quality is great as well, with built in 8' speakers and integrated surround sound with a subwoofer connection as well.

Weak Points: The remote control is a lil' more complicated than most but if you have a universal remote you'll be okay. It is a bit on the heavy side(about 50lbs) so wallmounting is questionable but if you have the correct brackets you should be fine.

All in All a great value, a lil' cheaper that others in it's catagory. For those who download movies off of the net, it's Ideal for PC use as well as Sat and Cable.

        OUTSTANDING VALUE!!!!
This is a fantastic unit. We decided to enter the high-tech world and go for this Westinghouse LCD wide screen TV. Ultra sharp and ultra bright picture and SO light weight! Being able to enjoy DVD movies the way they were meant to be seen is fantastic. Also being able to use with our computer is such a great feature.
Hope Westinghouse brings out a DVD Player soon. Will buy one as soon as they do! No disappointments. we are very happy!

        BUYING USED

Think about it, There is no way in your lifetime people are going to give away a 15K Plasma for 2k.
IF the seller asks to use an ESCROW service, ditch it.
I was interesed in buying a nice new plasma for $2,100 but realized that the whole escrow website was a scam

Great Picture in a Big Set
I've seen this monitor on display at a retail outlet and wish I could afford to buy one. The picture is bright, crisp, detailed. Colors are vivid. It's presence is rivaled only by the Toshiba 50HP82 and the Panasonic TH-50PHD5UY, both 50" screens. The Zenith has PIP (like the Toshiba), many other plasma sets do not. You need an external tuner, like the Sony SAT-HD200 (if you have Directv) and speakers are extra. If you have no budget and you really need 60", the Zenith is the one. Make sure you search online retailers for the best price.

        Real good tv
The tv is one of the best i have gotten so far. It was given to me as a present from CRORY but when I turned it on, it was the best. The Picture is clear, and very lifelike, I say on of the best tv's out there, there is no flaw in it, I think the price is right for a TV this good
