I ordered this TV a year or two ago, mostly for power-outages. I used it a bit back in my study; performance was mediocre, which isn't unexpected in this price range. The thing broke after a couple of months and I'm buying a different brand now. The controls on this one were very difficult to use--hard to switch bands, etc. Not the worst little TV out there, probably, but you see that I'm trying a different brand when I need another one.

The package was shipped very quickly - that was appreciated. I have the same exact TV as the one featured on Amazon.com's graphic and on the box of the product (both GE items).

The first thing I noticed is that the plastic rivet do-dad in the middle of the turntable kept falling apart when I first put the TV on top of it. After several tries in which I would place the unit under the TV and the turntable's middle rivet would pop out, I eventually figured out that the TV has to sit in exactly the right spot of the swivel or I ended up scrambling on the floor looking for the detached plastic rivet do-dad.

The best way to make this work - use two people. One person lifts up the TV, the other one slips the unit under it in just the right spot.

Anyway, I've had the turntable for a day or so and it seems okay now. I recommend buying the swivel only if you have some patience with this kind of thing.

I have had the television for 2 weeks and i am now returning it due to the poor picture quality. Contrast is not good on DVDs, i even tried S-Vid and Component but both did not change the problems.I used Schindler's List, Lord Of The Rings, and Finding Nemo to try and calibrate the color and contrast.
The opening menu for Schindler's list looked horrible in contrast. You could clearly see three different shades of black and white, which should have blended together. In LOTR during the council of elrond the picture was either too grainy or fleshtone colors on the characters faces were too bright. Finally on Finding Nemo the television had problems finding a medium between making the bright colors too brite or too bland, again no easy medium.
The television would also not turn on if i did not turn it off from the rear power switch each time. And after playing Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow for all of 30 minutes there was already burn in on the lower right of the screen.

I got the television for 3000, it might be cheaper than an HDTV but in my opinion its not worth it.

My GPX 5" portable b/w TV is slightly less than 3 years old and has died a slow death over past four months. First, the screen started to roll and no amount of tinkering with the back of the TV would stop it. This has not been a huge problem since I use this TV largely for sound while I am doing household chores. In the last two months, the on/off switch has become increasingly unreliable. Sometimes I have been able to get the TV to click on but at other times no amount of clicking will kick the TV into gear. Last week, for four days in a row, it refused to turn on (the switch for the radio still works). So I have given the TV a proper burial. Should I have expected more from a $30 TV? I have purchased a different brand of 5" TV and will see if I get more than just over two years of good service from it.

This stand was easy to put together except for the wheel casings. The wheels also do not stand up to the weight of the hitachi 32" television set that I bought to go along with it, the wheels are already bent.

Generally a disappointing product - was purchased to replace the original nVidia Vanta card in a Gateway Pentium III 550 MHz desktop. The pros were that the card is relatively inexpensive, and installed easily. The cons are that while this card is advertised as a solution for serious gamers, which I am not, it has trouble with basic graphics in older games such as Doom II, Myst, and Riven; also problems rendering basic GIF and JPG images in Internet Explorer and ACDSee. Users serious about graphics and games should consider other products.

The Panasonic Tau has the potential to be an excellent television, however I have had some unaddressed techinical problems with it. When there are darker images and flesh tones a "streaking" is observed to make it look like wavey when the faces or other images move slowly. However, the Picture quality in bright conditions is excellent. My daughter watches the movie "A bug's life" and it is amazing on this set. However, skip movies like "The hunt for Red October" unless you like to watch your characters streak.

I have owned the Panasonic Pure Flat Combo Unit for a couple of months - The DVD and CD Audio quality was so bad when I fired it up that I called Panasonic - they had me send the unit to an authorized repair service for a check. I was told by the service tech. that it meets Panasonic specifications - even though he admitted that the sound quality was poor.

Picture quality is good, and having the TV,DVD,CD,VCR and FM radio in one unit is very convenient - no wires to connect either.

I just wish that the sound from the internal speakers was at least up to the quality of the other TV's I own. The simulated surround feature is a joke considering the poor quality sound.

We were very happy with this TV/VCR when we first received it. It was very easy to use and quite portable. But then after 2 weeks the play button on the front panel stopped working. A week later as I was getting ready to take it to the repair shop, my daughter stuck some crayons in the VCR slot. When I took it into the repair shop, the receptionist said not to worry about it, kids stick stuff in VCRs all the time and it's not that big a deal. Well the next day I got a call from the repair shop saying the unit was so badly damaged from the crayons that it couldn't be fixed. He said the power supply was blown, the gears broken, and a few other things. If we had bought a regular TV with a separate VCR, we would now at least still have the TV, but as it is we're back to being a single TV family.

My emotions are mixed on this unit. The DVD portion of the machine works beautifully, but I didn't buy this unit for the DVD player.....I bought it for its ability to replace my VCR, hoping that I'd no longer have to buy VHS tapes in order to record TV shows. This unit is supposed to record up to 40 hours of programming on its hard drive, which would make it ideal for anyone going on a long vacation. But the only way I can get it to record is by turning on the unit, setting it to a channel, and hitting the record button. This means that you have to MANUALLY turn the record function on.....as well as turning it OFF!! The RCA folks were of no help, in that they read from the same manual that I do....the one that comes with the unit.

So, be very careful if you're looking to this unit as a replacement for your old VCR! It simply won't do what it's supposed to do!
