Good TV at the right priceBe advised that the S-Video and Component Video inputs share the audio inputs with the AV inputs. The set really has 3 available inputs, not 5 as the Toshiba info would have you believe. Also as mentioned in another review the remote isn't the greatest, but it works and I am getting used to it. I think it's more a matter of leaving my old remote behind.
I have this TV hooked up to my PS2 via a Monster S-Video cable and it blows away the picture on other friends standard tube TV's connected via AV inputs. DVD quality using the PS2 is also excellent.
The price is excellent for the quality picture and 3 different connection types you get. The amazon price of $... is comparable to the lowest price I have seen in retail stores (with the exception of a sale).
The best 20¿ flat screen availableI compared the Toshiba with the comparable 20 inch Sony WEGA and found the Toshiba picture to be clearly superior. This is the first time in 15+ years when I purchased a television not manufactured by Sony.
Now the criticism. The design and function of the Toshiba remote is poor with respect to its size, balance, and particularly, the placement of the controls and their specific functions. When holding remote, the volume and channel up/down buttons fall naturally under the thumb. However, the previous channel, mute and numeric keys for entering channel numbers directly are not clustered together and are difficult to reach. ironically, the controls that are clustered together such that they can be reached by the thumb without repositioning the hand and thereby changing the balance of the control are those associated with the control of a VCR.
You won't be disappointed with this set. For an extra ...a more user-friendly remote control can be purchased at most any electronics store, making this the perfect package.
The "Biggest Little TV" You'll Ever GetImmediately upon turning the set on, you can see a distinct difference in color richness while watching regular cable TV. But the real winning number of this unit are the inputs. Watching a DVD, even with one of the composite inputs, was INCREDIBLY clear. I was stunned. Using S-video is even better than that. I have my Nintendo GameCube connected to the unit using the component input, and games never looked better either.
The on-screen menu system (and how it interacts with the remote) is a bit complex, but fortunately most people won't be fiddling with those very much. This should not be considered a deterrant.
The remote itself is a bulky universal remote for TV/VCR/Cable. The buttons on the upper half glow in the dark, however that is essentially useless because the dark the numbers still can't be read in the dark (the numbers on the buttons should have been glow in the dark, not the buttons themselves.) But overall, the remote is a sturdy, quality piece. Far too many quality TV sets, even big screens, are bundled with cheap, bare-featured remotes. This is not one of them.
This Toshiba is getting 5 stars because it is the "biggest little TV" you could ever get. Shop around for the best price, as prices seem to be fluxuating greatly.

Excellent value
Outstanding Value and Performance!
Had this TV for over 4 years now...ExcellentThe picture is stunning, sharp with accurate color, the sound is quite good (I always use the stereo for movies), and as I said, the quality is top notch. My degree is video production and I'm very picky about picture quality. I've never been disappointed.
It is a big beast, but on an entertainment center with wheels its not a problem for us (except when we moved.) The Amazon red carpet service delivery was absolutely worth it.

So, we injected a range on freqencies through the Monster and looked at it on both an O-scope and a spectrum analyzer. We then did the same for a cable of the same type, but not a so-called Monster.
The Monster had *slightly* less attenuation, however the attenuation was not constant and the fluctuating attenuation introduced fluctuating harmonics. The differences between the Monster and the other cable, however, were along the same lines that one would expect to see from two similiar cables from different manufacturers.
My conclusion is that Monster cables simply are not worth the price. As for the construction itself, I don't find it very durable. It gives the appearance of durability, but I was not impressed with how the connectors were applied. For as much as these things cost, there should be better workmanship.
Professional cables can be had for half the cost of Monster cables. Monster cables are high-end low-end cables, where the high-end aspect is mainly in price. Its no suprise that one wouldn't find Monster cables being used in any professional sound studio.
I believe the "better picture aspect" of Monster video cables to be attributed mainly to psychological factors.
My advice would be to get the Microsoft HD AV Pack (which is what I'm using myself) for $20 and use the $40 you'll save on a game.
Extremely poor executionThe audio and video segments are side by side which caused some dismay because I wanted to run sound through my receiver. If you pay another 40 and get the proprietary optical cable, you can wire your sound through a receiver but this would mean spending 100 on cables for your Xbox. I have no doubt that there is an improvement but I have doubts as to how detectable it will be. The package does say a separate optical cable is necessary but in my purchasing haste, I failed to notice this.
I prefered to just get the standard HD kit from Microsoft for 17.99 and then hook up my own component cables and optical cable.
I feel that a $60 cable for a game system should include an optical cable for sound. Requiring the purchase of a proprietary optical cable instead of allowing any optical cable to connect is another slap in the consumer's face.
Definetly worth the money!

Good Alternative to Large CRT ScreenKP-43 Advantages: Thinner (shallower depth) than the 36" WEGA; Lighter (about 100 lbs) than the 36" WEGA; and Larger screen viewing area (43" vs 36").
CRT Advantages: Wider viewing angle (both vertical and horizontal); and Shorter minimum viewing distance.
Although the KP-43 projection TV has a larger screen, it is lighter and can be moved more easily. It also is a good choice for apartments or other smaller living spaces.
If picture quality is critical to you, then you should be aware that you may lose detail in the shadows since the black levels do not seem to be reproduced as consistently or accurately as a professional monitors.
To calibrate your TV for your viewing environment, I recommend renting the "Video Essentials" DVD. In general, you may need to decrease the PICTURE (contrast), BRIGHTNESS, and SHARPNESS settings to achieve the best picture quality. With the factory settings, you may notice blooming and additional noise.
You may also notice all the noise from traditional cable and broadcast signals. Therefore, you may wish to subscribe to digital services. There is a single component video input on the TV, which may not be enough if you have digital cable and a DVD player. You may need a separate component video switcher to accommodate multiple component video sources, or you could sacrifice some picture quality and use S-Video connections instead.
Excellent ChoiceThere are a couple of things to be aware of: * Getting all the components connected can take a little time.
* Limited space in the Stand for adding components.
Overall I think Sony 43' is a great investment if your considering 32 to 36" TV's. You'll get excellent picture quality at a better price point.
I Choice 5 Stars for being the best .

Big screen with relatively small set dimensionsGood Points: Great option for those who don't want an expensive plasma TV. Fits in large armoires.
Bad Points: The remote isn't lighted. The remote is a little clunky. It has some basic functions for a VCR/DVD, but certainly not as good as the remote that comes with your VCR/DVD.
General Comments:
The Samsung HLN437W is a terrific option to have a big screen HDTV without being too heavy (only about 67 lbs) or too deep (less than 16 inches deep) to fit into an armoire. The price... is excellent for its size (43 inch).
I am very pleased with the picture quality and the features of the TV. The picture quality in a brightly lit room with non-HDTV signals may not be as good as your cheap old-fashioned tube TV, but it is certainly adequate. Furthermore, the quality is excellent in a dark room or with a progressive scan DVD player.
You can watch TV in the old 4:3 format, or widescreen or panorama or zoom modes. It has a picture-in-picture mode so that you can watch two of your favorite programs at the same time. You can program the remote to press one button for your favorite 10 channels.
The best TV on marketSH
The Best!It beats Plasma and any other picture technology 2-1. HD Net, Discovery Channel HD, ESPN HD, and all the other HD channels available are sharp and without any type of distortion to my critical eye. The roof antenna brings in the local channels (about 60 miles away in Cleveland) as if they were HD coming off the satellite.
I have a Samsung HD 931 DVD player which is connected to the TV via a DVI cable. What a difference between my present picture and the one I got from my old analog TV.
I have a Samsung SR T165 HD receiver box and I am very dissappointed with its user interface with the 2 antenna feeds.
Although it provides the above mentioned great reception, it is very cumberson to use when surfing.
In conclusion, The Samsung DLP is a dream. I can't imagine how they can improve on the quality and clarity of this set, but I'm sure they will. The closer you sit to this set the clearer the picture becomes.
So far I have had no problems with the TV and have not adjusted the set as it came from the factory.
