Buying It a Second Time
I recently purchased this TV. The picture was awesome while watching regular programming from DirecTV or watching DVDs. The sound was also excellent - the best I've heard from any projection TV without using a Home Theater system. However, I purchased mine as a "factory reconditioned" product which had not been repaired properly and still had a problem when it was shipped to me. I've since returned it to the vendor and am awaiting a credit on my card. Once the credit is received, I plan on purchasing this model once again because it is a great TV. I've compared it to other brands in its price range and also some much higher priced and still prefer this Toshiba. This time, however, I'll purchase through Amazon, brand new, not reconditioned. By the way, the set comes in a big box, which is cut open, removed and then you have a FULLY ASSEMBLED TV which gets plugged in. IT DOES NOT COME IN PIECES. Toshiba is not selling "puzzle piece TVs." The guy who says it comes in pieces is either in need of treatment or has a gripe against Toshiba.

The First Reviewer Has the Wrong System in Mind
After reading these two reviews, I felt I had to try to set this record straight: I completely agree with the second reviewer. This is an EXCELLENT TV. I had absolutely no problems setting up or using mine and it came completely assembled. As the second reviewer said, all you do is take it out of the box, plug it in and it fired up. Setup involved answering a few on-screen questions and that was it. I too have been impressed with the quality of the picture and feel that I made a smart buy with this TOSHIBA. I think the first reviewer either was taken by the local Rex store or he has this 51" mixed up with some other model. Nothing he described matched my experience with this TV. Believe the second guy....both of us had basically the same results.

WOW!
We just received this TV from Amazon today. It is incredible!

Outstanding value for the price
I purchased this model on low-price guarantee from Best Buy for $1,999 vs. competitor's advertised price, so well-below BB's going rate for the screen. I shopped for about 4 months & compared this model to comparably-priced (MSRP:$3K-$4K) Samsung, Sampo, ViewSonic, Panasonic & Sony(smaller screen size in price range). The Daewoo picture quality in all aspects was superior to the $3.5K & other competitors & equal to many models that were far more expensive. I waited hoping to get it for under $2.5K & was shocked to find it advertised for $2K in 1/04, so took the step with Best Buy due to their service & lower extended warranty price. I installed & completed set-up myself with no problems with a system that includes Direct TV, VCR & DVD recorder. Daewoo instructions for proper satellite & component set-up were precise, easy to follow &, most importantly, accurate. I have not been disappointed in the unit in any way for the dollar spent. It operates quietly & provides wonderful color & picture clarity. The only downside to the unit is that it does not have picture-in-picture, but then very little is available in the entry-level price range that has PIP. I also purchased the companion DP-SP21 speakers, which can be very hard to locate, but I got them from Target at $120 for the pair(well below other advertised prices). They are not high output, but deliver surround-sound quality & no distortion at upper-end volume. All-in-all, a superior unit for the buyer that doesn't want to spend a lot of money on a plasma set-up.

Just bought one
I just bought this Daewoo DP42SM and am amazed at the quality of the picture. Not something I was expecting to find in the Daewoo brand in plasmas. I was lucky enough to see this plasma right next to a Sony and the highly rated Panasonic. I couldn't see much of a difference. It has very good black levels and a wide choice of input options. Also comes with a several sets of cables for connecting components. Has a very nice metal and glass stand, also a futuristc looking remote. Overall, I am in awe of this thing. I did not buy it online, I bought it at my local Fry's. I won't tell you for how much, but I got it for much less than the $2999 list shown here and elsewhere. I can recommend this plamsa very highly. Haven't had it that long (a week), but I hope it will prove to be a good purchase in the long run. Right now, just really loving this thing, what a pleasure to watch TV (I have digital cable from Cox and the picture is excellent) and DVDs (they look great as well).

I looked for about a month trying to decide. Saw some brands I definitely would not be comfortable with, they just had an inferior picture quality in the stores which took them out of the running right off the bat.

What I was looking for was good color reproduction, good black levels, a sharp picture, a silver enclosure and a stand included, and a price around $3000. I was not interested in HDTV (this is EDTV, fine for my needs), nor did I want a built-in tuner since I have digital cable. The Daewoo suprisingly came out on top. Don't overlook this one, you'll save some big bucks by shopping around for this one.

Great TV
We purchased the TV back in February and had it for about 8 weeks. In late April we started to get red lines from top to bottom about every inch on the screen. We purchased the extended service plan from Best Buy and called them. They sent their service person out and he determined the TV could not be fixed. Best Buy wanted us to deal with Daewoo because of the manfacturers warranty. DO NOT DEAL WITH DAEWOO DIRECTLY, Daewoo will not give you a new replacement unit it is reconditioned.
When I informed Best Buy of Daewoo's replacement policy they picked up the broken TV and replaced it with a new one.
Even though we had this little problem the TV is fantastic and highly recomended. We are very happy with it and you will be too I'm sure......

Awesome!
I'm not a TV expert so I won't confuse you with complicated technical terms, but I'll try to tell you that this TV is worth buying, using my eyes only. First of all, the picture quality is amazing. The sound is a real blast (Try hearing music CD's on your game console, it's amazing!). Plus it's got 4 Video Outputs, so my Dreamcast, my PS2 and soon my X-box will al connect together! This TV is very consol friendly, you press a botton on the remote, turn on the game console, and there you go, blasting off in amazing picure and sound. Watching TV on this babe is a real experience! GET IT!

Fantastic TV
The picture quality and color is amazing and just like a tube tv. I shopped for a HD ready TV for a long time and compared many TVs side by side. After I saw the Toshiba I fell in love with it and decided to buy it. I think it is the best in the market in that price range. I was recommended to use a component cable for the tv for best picture quality. Non-Hd transmission also looks crisper and better with the 1200 lines of resolution. The color mix in the picture is perfect...i found some HD tvs having more of blue hue in the original setting. I liked the size of the tv too...it does not become the prominent focus in the room. Definitely consider this one if you are shopping for a HD Projection TV.

Xbox Used
Great TV, one look at it in your house will make you fall in love. I use a XBOX mainly on it and it's ASTOUNDING.

Lying shipper--do not buy this product
I cannot review the product (originally listed for $1,000.00 dollars more), because Crates Direct pulled a switcheroo and sent an inferior, cheaper model whose true price IS $1,199.99 and not the $2,999.99 they charged me but refuse to alter.

If you order this one, don't expect to get it.

Simply Awesome!!!
I just got the 32XBR450 yesterday (2/9/02) and I absolutely love it. I wasn't intending on buying this TV when I went shopping but once I saw the picture and other features compared to the "regular" flat screen TV's I had to have it. The picture's incredible, the colors are perfect and the skin tones are right on the money. I havent hooked it up to a home theater system yet but the TV audio on its own is wonderful. I connected a DVD player that has the progressive scan feature (only works with HDTV TV's) and I used the component video cable connection. All I can say about the picture quality while watching a DVD is WOW!!!! It's crystal clear. It was just like being in a movie theater except that my recliner is much more comfortable and the picture was actually better. The picture-in-picture feature is better than any I've seen. It's called Twin-View and instead of a small box in the corner of the screen it comes up in a split screen so both channels take up half the screen. Then you can resize either one you want and as one gets bigger the other gets smaller. You can also use the picture-in-picture mode while viewing a DVD, VHS, video game system or any other input you have hooked up. There are also plenty of in-put jacks (6) so you can hook up just about anything you want. Overall it's just the best TV I've seen. The ONLY reason I didnt give it 5-stars is because of the price. I paid the same price thats advertised here but I got the stand included. Oh ya and it's HDTV (ready) so when all broadcasts go over to HDTV in a few years you'll be all set. If you can pay the price then go out and get this TV NOW!!!

Very best picture I have seen anywhere!
The Sony XBR Wega Flat-Screen HDTV Monitor (KV-32XBR450) will please even the most discriminating movie viewers. I looked at every model imaginable in the stores, and this television is a hands-down winner over all the rest. Friends prefer watching their movies at *my* house now. :) The TV features a 16:9 enhanced mode for high-aspect ratio video sources. Many DVDs are now available in this 16:9 widescreen ratio format (also known as anamorphic movies). The TV also features "component video" 3 cable video inputs from a DVD player. (These feature 3 separate wires for RGB signals and provide the best transfer available today.) Use a Progressive Scan DVD Player to take advantage of the full capabilities of this TV. Other features include channel labels in which you can program a 5 character description for each channel. This makes browsing easier when you forget which channel number goes with each network. The remote control is easy to use and operates very quickly with on-screen computer-like bar menus. The television is very heavy, so be prepared to have help moving and installing it. It weighs around 175 lbs. The sound is quite good, but the most discerning listeners will prefer to hook the sound into a stereo system. Nonetheless, if you are not an audiophile, the sound quality should be more than good enough. A full year warranty is included with this TV. Also, it's HDTV compatible to be able to handle the upcoming future improvments in availability of HDTV broadcasts. The television is expensive, but a set of this quality should provide many years of viewing enjoyment which is well worth the extra cost.

RCA delivers
This is the DirecTV system for the future. The elliptical dish sees more satellites than the round ones, the receiver can service up to 4 TVs in your house, and the whole system is also ready for high-definition TV and digital sound. It comes with the familiar RCA remote, and we drive our TV, VCR and DirecTV receiver from the same remote. In terms of the remote there is a small glitch that pushing the DirecTV button will automatically send the TV to channel 39 (i.e. snowyland) if you point the remote at the TV as you do that (hence only 4 stars). After a few minutes of frustration the friendly people at DirecTV clued us in and straightend things out. The free installation was a great deal as well. Amazon contacted DirecTV, they contacted us a few days after the system arrived and a local contractor installed it completely to our satisfaction. So far we have been extremely satisfied with the system, picture and sound are 2 leagues above cable. We will never go back.

Coolest thing on earth (and space)
I debated a lot among the different TV satellite providers, but I decided to buy DirecTV for many reasons. I now have a very good equipment, free professional installation was GREAT! and in no time I had my system up and running. I have access to TWO satellites, I can get more channels, I have both English and Spanish available, in few words, this is the way to go and Amazon makes it very simple.

Directv is the best!!! Cable sucks!
Directv are about the nicest people with the greatest programming. Over 225 channels if you wanna play 85.99 a month plus over 8 different sports subscriptions. NFL fans won't wanna miss out because NFL Sunday Ticket is only available on Directv, NOT cable. With this satellite you can hook up to 4 Recievers without using a satellite splitter. Directv Interactive is very cool as well. Directv is bar-none the best out there!

Great product, Smart purchase.
I looked at almost all the mid sized, flat panel TV's from "High End" places to Best Buy and the Sharpe 37" LCD had the best, most consistent picture. The prices varied from $5500.00 in a retail store to $3700.00 on the Internet. I had several reasons for choosing LCD over Plasma. 1) Plasma displays have considerably bigger pixels (even on smaller screen sizes) than LCD making it harder to watch at close distances. 2) Plasma's have the problem of not being able to re-produce "negative black" (-7.5ire). The result is that even an extremely clean live video feed has a kind of "haze" over the picture that simply can't be adjusted out without compromising sharpness, brightness and color intensity. It's just the electronic nature of Plasma. It's especially annoying when watching HDTV movies or broadcasts where clarity and sharpness are so important. After all that's what your paying for, right? LCD screens however are capable of reproducing negative black quite nicely so consequently don't have the "washed" look of plasmas. Plasmas are fine from a distance of say 15' or more but my viewing distance is only about 9 ft so the choice of the Sharpe 37" LCD was clear in that regard.

7 months and still love it!
I did a bit of research before buying a flat panel tv, and decided to go with LCD because of the reported lifespan (after all, it's still a LOT of cash to put out for the technology)and because LCD doesn't suffer from 'burn-in' like plasma (kids with video games). So, first stop was to Tweeter to see the sets side-by-side. I was completely impressed with the picture quality of the sharp LCD and my opinion has not changed 7 months later. My only complaint is there are not enough HDTV channels. I now find my viewing is almost completely controlled by which broadcasts are in HDTV (I am totally spoiled now). This set is great... now my husband wants them in every room.

Still one of the best
This discontinued model was one of the largest LCD TVs when it first came out last year. Now others have surpassed it in size, but Sharp's quality is still the best. The viewing angles are admirable, the colors from DVDs are vibrant and true, and pixelation, although still apparent at times as is with *all* LCD screens (due to liquid crystal response time -- do not believe the "below 16ms" hype from some non-Japanese Asian manufacturers), is quite acceptable. The images displayed on this are just breathtakingly beautiful. Since this model is discontinued, you can find it at bargain prices, or get one of the newer big Aquos LCD monitors.

Great Product
No humming noise on my end. I don't know if the other reviewers were somewhat unlucky & got a malfunctioned TV, but I hear no humming noise what so ever. In fact when I mute the TV sound, I hear no sound at all. Anyways this is an excellent Product. Very clear picture, great sound (surround & BBE), and I love the 16:9 feature! The component video (need a special component video cable Red Green Blue) with the DVD player (Toshiba Colorstream both ends) makes DVD's look amazing. Why pay $... or more for a Sony TV with an inferior quality picture & less features? If I have to find a fault then I would say that the text on the remote control is too small (only fault I can find, nitpicking). Best TV purchase I made, highly recommend.

Couldn't purchase a better TV
I just purchased the Toshiba from Amazon.com, and I couldn't love this TV more. I have spent weeks searching for the perfect TV for my new home theater system in my bedroom and I settled on this TV, because of great reviews, options (such at video out - that allows you to watch cable on your external speakers i.e. home theater), and style. The picture quality is sharp and flawless (almost as if you were watching HDTV) and with a DVD and the Colorstream component video option, the picture is even better. Sound quality is also good, with no humming as with other flat screens. Options seem endless. With easy menu navigation and tons of features, this TV is a steal from Amazon. Also, I ordered this TV and recieved it in 2 days flat w/free shipping, no tax, and up-to-the minute status of your order. If you want a TV for your bedroom, this one is perfect in every sense. When compared to other brands, Sony is about even, but very expensive and all other brands seem to be much lower quality. You won't be dissapointed!

Toshiba 20AF43 20" Flat Screen TV
This TV is a great value. The picture is clear and crisp and the audio is terrific. I have owned Sony's and I think this set is at least the equal if not better in terms of picture and sound quality. The big plus is it is less expensive than its Sony competitor and has more features.

I read the other reviews on this page before making my purchase. The report of the hum is valid however if I hadn't read about it before purchasing it, I don't think I would have noticed it. The hum is really hard to detect so I don't consider it a negative. I have satellite tv so I only used the Toshiba remote for set-up and minor adjustments and didn't find it to be a problem. I use the satellite remote as the primary remote.

I took advantage of the Super Saver free shipping. Combined with the low price, this was a very good deal.

too small
ive had this TV for about 6 months now, and the only thing iregret about it is not getting the 36"! I choose this TV over thev-series wega tv simply because its color,(and it cost a few $$$ less)it had a much better color contrast than the wega, whites were white instead of light brown. I have, however, noticed a few proformance flaws. the geometry of the screen is a little off in the corners ,but the only time i really notice it is when i have test patterns on screen(this is possably due to a weak power supply). The other problem is the brightness of the set, its hard to get a perfect balance of brightness while still keeping blacks black. Other than that . . . no other non HDTV television at any price range can compete with the superflat!

I Love It!
This TV delivers high-quality home entertainment. I've seen the rest and bought the best. The super-flat black screen accentuates colors and contrasts better than the more expensive Sonys. When used in conjunction with DVD and a home theater you will know why I am so enthusiastic.

The Electrifying TV
This TV rocks! It is very large. IT is really flat so it eliminates pretty mutch of the glare on the screen. If you want to buy a good tv this is the one for you.

I purchased this set a little over a year ago because I was amazed with the picture while comparing it to other sets next to it. The colors can be adjusted with the different theater settings, and I love how you can set it so that while switching channels some don't come in louder than others. I've had friends and family over for football games and to watch movies and have received many complememts on the picture.

My one problem is with something that someone else also noted. In the lower left corner of my television, the color began to look faded. I'm happy I purchased an extended warranty through Circuit City. A local technician came over to fix it a few days later, but the fading looks worse, and I will have to call them again. My speakers are pushed all the way against each wall, about 5 feet away from the TV. I REALLY don't want to replace this set with another because I love the picture I get from it, but the faded color in the corner bothers me, especially after paying so much for a TV. One other minor complaint is that I sometimes hear a high-pitched noise coming from the back of the set. That also bothers me.

I don't have a progressive scan DVD player yet, but I will probably be upgrading that and my receiver within the next year. I love the picture on this TV, but there have been a few small problems with it.

HITACHI 32UDX10S HDTV/MONITOR
I HAD TO DECIDED BETWEEN A FLAT SCREEN PANASONIC OR THE HITACHI. HITACHI IS THE ONLY MAKER OF AN HDTV NON FLAT SCREEN. I DECEIDED TO GO WITH THE HITACHI BECAUSE IT WEIGHS ONLY 105LBS VS. THE HEFTY 165LBS PAN.(32HDX42) FITS NICELY IN MY ENTERTAINMENT FURNITURE WHICH WAS DESIGNED FOR A 27" TV AND BECAUSE I HAVE A 27" HITACHI TV/MONITOR(WEIGHS THE SAME AS MY NEW 32" HITACHI) FOR 12 YEARS STILL OPERATES THE SAME AS THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT. I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE THE PIP -CAN'T CHANGE THE CHANNEL?
OTHERWISE, A WONDERFULL TV SET WITH ALL THE INPUTS ONE WILL NEED TO ATTACH 2 VCR'S, DVD PLAYER, TAPE DECK! GREAT VALUE FOR [money ammount].

Great Set
I looked and looked for a new TV. Read every review I could find. After purchasing a 51" projection set from Hitachi, I was impressed with the picture and quality of their sets. The 32" was one of the few of that size that would fit into my cabinet. Although, initially, I wanted a flat-screen, I decided to go with the Hitachi. This is a great TV! Picture quality is stunning. Watching DVDs from my progressive scan player is an awesome experience. I have heard some negative reviews regarding sound quality, but have yet to experiance ANY problems in that area. Instead, the sound has been great. Not as good as my surround set-up in the den, but exceptional for a TV. So far, I am exceptionally happy with my decision and purchase. Hitachi makes great TVs!

Panasonic 40" LCD
I rated this product 4 stars rather than 5 stars only because the air cooling fan for the LCD monitor is a little noisy. Not enough to bother you but I am a little critical. However, it did not stop me from buying the set for its great picture and great looks.

LOVE THIS tv
I had previously owned an RCA F38310 HDTV which was nothing but trouble. I have had this set for almost 6 months now - bought it sight unseen from circuit city and have been thrilled with it. Works great with digital cable, DVD, PSX2 and terrestial HD signals(need an HD reciever) and High Def DirecTv - standard DirecTv was not so great (looked washed out) but I am dropping my subscription - I only used it for High def channels and I just got HD Cable which is fantastic (Discovery HD Theatre is awsome)!

the minor con -Speakers are not great but I'll bet if you are looking at this TV you already have or will get a quality surround sound system.

The bottom line with this set is the picture, this set is on par with entry level Plasma sets and well exceeds any standard rear projection tvs.

Absolutely no problems so far but if I have learned anything from my RCA HDTV purchase, always get a good warranty with in home service.

Outstanding "almost-plasma" HDTV
I've had this tv for over a month. (Also purchased the new Onkyo 950 home theater package to go with it.) While more than your average projection TV, this LCD rear-projection offers almost the same resolution as plasma. The delivery guys from Best-Buy brought it to my house and set it up had never seen one before. After we plugged it in and fired it up, both of them uttered, "wow" as the screen came alive. They had set up two plasma tvs for NASA in the past, and both of them througt this Panasonic was as good .... with a lot less hassle than a plasma.

Reactions from new viewers on DVDs is predictable: universal acclimation that it's a much. much better experience than in the theater. Stunning clarity: you will notice more visual details than in the theater.

It doesn't get any better than this, unless you're willing to fork over MUCH more money. Couldn't be happier.
