PICTURE LOOKING GREAT!!!!!
Don't judge this TV by its cheap look, judge it by its screen resolution and picture quality. I have owned Casio's models 970 and 880. They don't have as many pixels as the 550. The brightness and picture quality is superior when you put them side to side. The 550 has TFT active matrix screen while the others have passive matrix. The TFT is better under all light conditions, even under direct sun light. If you really want a TV that is good both outdoors and indoors don't buy a passive matrix tv. Get ready to have lots of fresh batteries or buy the AC adaptor from casio's website. I would not recomend getting those universal AC adaptors out there, even if you set them up to match the handheld specifications, it can eventually burn your screen and your TV won't turn on again. The warranty doesn't cover this kinda thing since you are not using casio's certified AC adaptor. Believe me, it happened to me once and I have heard a lot of sad stories of dead handeld TV's once they are hooked to generic adaptors. SO, play safe, take care of your investment and enjoy!!!!

great picture
Great picture as long as receiption is good. Traveling in the car is another story. I don't have the car antenna, this might help. It blows through batteries also. But, still a good golf cart addition.

Very Nice Product
Active Matrix-good picture and reception. Don't buy any product unless it is active matrix. For the extra $50- buy the Casio three inch model.

seeing is believing
this tv has the best picture of any projection tv i have ever seen, and give many a tube tv a run for the show as well. i have seen alot of them, as i deliver for a tv and appliance store. the price i paid for this item is unbelievable as well. so needless to say i am a very happy hatachi watcher. dvd quality is out of this world, i have pioneer 600 watt surround sound w/5 disc changer hooked up through red blue green on both units. just switched from cable (clear picture aint so clear) to direct tv the picture from direct is much much better. when not using the pioneer, the sound still sounds good from the hitachi. even though i got a tremendous deal it is well worth the regular price.

Best Rear Projection Available
Bought this HDTV in early December 2002. Prices have gone UP since. We are very happy with this unit.

DVD progressive-scan picture quality is flawless. I challenge anyone to see more detail in a film like "The Last of the Blonde Bombshells" (an HBO film shot with HD equipment): I can safely describe every scene as of "photographic quality". "Shrek", "Matrix", "Moulin Rouge", and "Moonstruck" are also fantastic.

Watching satellite from DirecTV is another matter, though. We don't have an HD satellite receiver yet, and the image quality we get varies greatly from channel to channel and from show to show. It can be great (some car and beer commercials are super) or only fair ("re-runs" on West Wing are grainy). With an HD satellite receiver (we witnessed at Circuit City) this unit has nearly perfect picture quality.

Lets face it, if you spend this much on a large screen TV, you will want to fill the screen edge to edge, and the six aspect-ratio settings let you do just that. We choose 16:9 (1.85:1 "widescreen") viewing most of the time. Breathtaking stuff!

When you watch 4:3 images (1.33:1 "full screen") you can expand the image to fill the screen, but the distortion bothers me. So we mostly watch those at the "Zoom1" setting, which provides an edge-to-edge viewing experience with some cropping. I prefer cropping to the grey or black bars that otherwise frame the image.

Compared this 51" to the 57" Hitachi and was surprised that the 57" picture quality was better, considering it uses the same elements. I thought that picture would be grainy or washed out, but it was also superb. However I could not justify the additional cost - and this 51" screen fits our basement viewing area well.

I am very happy with this HDTV watching 50/50 DVD and satellite TV, but I am hunting for the best HD receiver to complete our video experience.

For sound, we use an RCA 700W surround system. Despite small satellite speakers, the sound is incredible large, thanks to a large subwoofer. The Hitachi's 40W speakers provide good sound, though, and we usually set the volume at 50% while watching movies. They fill in nicely in the mid to high-range frequencies.

I strongly recommend this set and challenge anyone to find a better quality image for the money.

Excellent
I am very impressed with this set. In comparing the quality of the picture with other manufacturers the picture far exceeded their capabilities. This set far exceeded my expectations and I am happy I bought it. It is even better than I thought it would be by seeing it in the store.

An excellent TV, with an excellent price.
This is by far the best thing that I have ever purchased. Anyways, it is an outstanding TV, with a great picture, lots of input jacks for stuff, and by far the best price tag for the quality.

Super sharp with DVDs
I had been looking at projection TVs for 3 years and never saw anything in the showrooms that I couldn't live without - until I wandered into Circuit City at the Holyoke Mall. There I saw the Hitachi 51UWX - the picture was spectacular. CC delivered it to me in Vermont (free delivery - with 3 ft of snow on the ground) and set it up. It's been 'Cinema Nirvana' ever since. The key feature is the ability to manually sharpen the image at 117 points on the screen - the result is a sharper image (from DVDs) than any first-run movie theater can provide. If you're a film afficianado - this is the machine.

Couldn't be happier
This is my first purchase of an Hitachi product and I have to say I am very pleased. Sony was the first HDTV I looked at but two things changed my mind. First the 'flicker' problem associated with Sony projection TV's. Their tube televisions are peerless but over and over I came across comments about the development of flicker and a green cast on the picture after even 3 months of use. Then I saw the TV's side by side at Circuit City. That clinched it. The color and definition of the Hitachi were, to me, superior. One caveat...normal cable looks less than great on this TV. I have digital TV with HDTV channels and it's amazing. I cannot say how a picture from an antenna would look. But before the Cable company hooked up my HDTV box, the pic on the HItachi wasn't as good as the picture on my father's 3 year old Mitsubishi. However, with both tv's attached to HDTV cable, the HItachi is superior.

Very good TV.
I purchased a JVC AV24F703 24" TV at AmericanTV in Wisconsin in July 02. It was on display along side comparable Sony and Toshiba (24AF42) models...The JVC was [a little] more than the Toshiba but that was not a consideration. All three sets had video that looked good but I'm no expert. There were only minor feature differences. The Toshiba had exposed channel/vol controls, which I preferred, on the front while the JVC had all front panel controls under a cover. The Toshiba also had a volume leveler for obnoxious commercials but I was unable to check this in a noisy store. I ended up making my decision based on the remotes. The JVC had large, clearly marked, and easily reached (directly under the thumb) channel/ vol controls. It seems to me that this is what you would want for the most used buttons. The Toshiba channel/vol buttons were small, poorly marked and located on the top right. The JVC remote used 2 AA's which have approximately four times the storage capacity at about the same cost as the AAA's used by the Toshiba. It is mainly for these reasons that I went with the JVC. It may seem silly to judge a TV by the remote, but this the part that the user has the most contact with. After viewing the set at home, I am very pleased with it. Reception of local broadcast stations using an attic antenna is better than any set I've seen. My only complaint is that the JVC has a default setting for cable/broadcast that must be changed through the menu system or else only VHF channels come in. This is described in the manual but who reads those? In summary, I'm quite pleased with this JVC AV24F703.

Outstanding TV, good price
If you are looking for a high quality, smaller TV for an area such as your bedroom, then look no further than this model. Overall, the picture quality is outstanding, and with the multiple inputs which are available, hooking up with a DVD and/or video game console is a snap. A good purchase for the money.

THE BEST TV ON EARTH
I just got the JVC AV-24F702 Television and it is amazing. It has 3 A/V inputs in which i hooked up my Playstation 2 and Dreamcast into. The flat screen has amazing resolution important if you live to play video games and watch DVDs and Movies. The convienient size of the Television makes it possible to fit in tight spaces and it will increase the value of any room that you put it in. If you want a great TV for a low price, get this one because this television is worth every penny.

    Great TV; great price
This is the best TV I could find in its price range! I have never had a JVC product before; I thought I should go with a big name like Sony or Panasonic, but JVC has impressed me with this beautiful TV. I went from a 25 inch TV to this 32 inch, and the picture looks quite large, and is easy to see, and its color and picture clarity are exceptional! Although it would have been fun to have one of the large flat screen TVs, I did not want to spend that much, and I am very happy with this TV's quality, style and features. One of its selling features was its PIP (picture in picture). No other TV I looked at in its size and price range had this, and it's something I had wanted for a long time. Its sleek design does not overpower my room, and looks great in the oak entertainment center I found to go with it. I am very pleased.

I'm in Love with my JVC TV
Just bought the AV32D502 32" Stereo TV with Hyper Surround Sound
by JVC three days ago at Sears for under 500bucks,and I got a free,100dollar,swivel stand to go with it.I love the picture and sound, and it was so easy to program.I did see the newer TV's,with reality picture for over 4thousand dollars.I've never seen a picture like that, but for now, this is all I can afford, and I'm very happy with my JVC TV.

    great picture, great sound
ended up going with the jvc due to price/performance bang for the buck and i'm really, really impressed. this tv has the best picture i've seen in a long time. i used to have a proscan and before that a sony, but neither is as sharp as this one. i'm very pleased with my purchase!

      All the features @ half-price
This television is manufactured in China, so I thought of the worse case scenario: manual in Chinese, no remote, not cable-ready, with foreign power cord. But I was pleasantly relieved. TV had remote, english manual, standard power cord, and was cable-ready. The price was the best feature, not to mention it's the cutest tv you'll ever see with it's deep blue color. I'm definitely pleased.

      Konka 13" TV great buy
i have recently bought this tv, it was a great buy. there is great color, its easy to use and set up, and it arrived at my house in three days! i would definately recomend buying this tv

      Sweet Deal!
If you are looking for a small tv, look no further. This item shows quality and a very nice price. Has two speakers & a/v jacks. Only slight negative is: no antenna included....

        Excellent Value
Wasn't for sure what I was getting myself into. I'm used to watching a huge projection TV at home. This little TV is a very good buy. Colors are vivid and the A/V input is great. I was a little thrown off when I first turned it on, because I saw this bar going across the screen. But as I soon realized, it was the tuner searching for a channel. Much better than fumbling with a little analog dial. The sound isn't booming, but what do you expect from such a compact device. It was very clear and easy to hear without any distortion at any level. The only reason I'm not giving this product 5 stars is because it should have at least come with the AC adapter...

One of the best in It's category
A very good product. Because of TFT technology, screen clarity is very very good. I used a Casio TV 7500 for a long time, but this ones' screen is far better. I have got 2 sets of NiMH batteries (1700 mA) and they last about 2 hours. There is only one thing that I miss, preset channels.

        Addendum to my previous review...
The Casio ev-4500 is now available. 4 inch active matirx. Slim hand-held. I don't know what battery life will be like but this is now the ultimate portable handheld TV (although the 660 is still a great product).

Wow ... Nice Sound ... So Small!
I received the Jensen MR-400 today (15Nov02) and was pleasantly surprised. The first thing I did was put the batteries in wrong, so ensure that you do not do that, or they will ruin the unit ... luckily I took them out quickly.

The reception is GREAT and the TV works amazingly well ... uses only two AA size batteries ... better reception than my much larger and more expensive Sony AM/FM/TV radio.

Wow ... it is so small ... you will be amazed at its size. After using it today at the river listening to my favorite TV program, I am impressed because I was 25 miles from the station out in the boonies.

I will update this later if it should prove warranted.

        Good Luck,

        John G

        great
this is a great little radio for the price.
it sounds like a radio costing ten times more.
        i highly recommend it.

        A Bargain Radio
Pocket sized AM/FM radios with TV audio are not very easy to find and are often quite expensive, so it was a delight to find this little gem and at this price too. It proves that inexpensive doesn't always mean poor performance or quality. The sound is great and it is able to pick up distant stations that our other pocket sized radios can't. The quality of construction is as good as radios costing a good bit more. I highly recommended this Radio.

          Very nice resolution
To judge the sharpness of a TV image, I recommend looking at text on the screen such as news verbage or show credits. The text has to be stationary, not moving or animated. Using this test, the JVC AV-27320 is really sharp for its price range. Color quality looks great too. The sound quality is just OK but this can be solved by using home-theater audio. That's what I do.

          Excellent TV
This TV is highly configurable with multiple video inputs and excellent control of image quality. For the price, I believe it to be an excellent deal. I've been quite happy with the image quality and functionality of the TV.

          Good buy
I returned a Philips for this one. The Philips was a big disappointment. But this JVC TV is spectacular for the dough. The picture quality is excellent. The picture is clear and the colors are vibrant. The tube is a true rectangular model and nearly flat, but not a pure flat model.

The sound quality is very acceptable, but not great. Since the speakers are so close together, sound separation is not great, but the sound is very good for this price range. If you hook it to a stereo, the internal speakers don't matter anyway. It does supposely have a variable volume audio output, but I have not yet tested this. Signal to noise ratio is very good - even at very low volumes, late at night, there is no hint of hum or buzz.

The remote and on-screen menues are very intuitive and easy to use. The remote buttons are well laid out and the remote is very responsive to user input. It is also very non-directional - you don't have to point it at the TV to get it to work. The remote will control any JVC TV and VCR, but not, apparently, VCRs from other manufacturers. You have to buy higher priced JVCs to get the true universal remotes.

Overall, this is a good tube, and a great buy.

            Great picture
This TV/VCR combo looks and performs great. The picture's clear and sharp and undistorted. The sound is so great that often I have to turn down the volumn. The only drawback is the cost of the remote control. I bought this as an open box with no remote. So in order to use all the features on either the TV or VCR, like setting the timers, recording at a certain time, having the tv turn on or off automatically and closed caption feature- one can only use the original remote which runs about $40 plus shipping charges. Trust me on this, this weekend I've purchased 3 different "high end" remotes" only to have to return them. Finally, I broke down and contacted a vendor with the original new remote for this model. Other than that, I'm extremely happy so far and can't wait to receive my remote.

            Great Picture
My dad bought me this tv about two weeks ago. We have five tv's in our house and this thing is bad. Best picture I've ever seen and the sound is very very good. Great gift for a son or daughter, take it from me.

JVC 20 in. Flat Screen TV/VCR combo
I bought this TV after hours of comparison shopping on the internet. I was looking for a 20 inch TV with a silver box for my bedroom (I had a 13 inch TV/VCR combo that wasn't cutting it). I first decided on a JVC 20 inch model for ... when I stumbled on this one. For... more, I could get a flat screen and a VCR! I went to the store to look at it in person before I bought it and instantly fell in love with it. The picture quality is excellent and is even better with DVD's. The sound is wonderful and the overall apperance is very classy. The TV also appears to be larger than 20 inches because the screen is flat, not rounded like regular TV's. I took it home and set it up, and have been extremely happy with it ever since. You will not find a Flat Screen TV/VCR on the market for a lower price or better quality. In fact, I comparison shopped Flat Screen TV's too, and you won't find a 20 inch regular TV with no VCR for under this price. It is an excellent TV, with an excellent price and I highly recommend it. Once you watch TV with a Flat Screen, you'll never want to watch a tube TV again!
