Excellent LCD at a very reasonable priceI have Dish network at home, but no HD yet. For standard definition (SD), the picture quality is slightly better than my 9year old JVC 27" CRT (my viewing distance is about 8 ft), but it's only on par with Sharp 22" Aquos. I was slightly disappointed in that. To put things in perspective, you can't expect an HD set to perform miracles on a SD source. The display can only be as good as the source. One thing that it definitly outshines the Sharp is the viewing angle. For the Sharp unit, the brightness of the picture changes significantly with the angle, but for LT26WX84, it's quite consistent (although still not approaching the CRT yet). The black level also appears to be slightly better than the Sharp by a hair.
Next, I tried my DVD source. Due to space consolidation, I was using my PS2 to playback DVD video. The PQ is quite nice--vivid colors while showing a lot of details. I am sure if you have a progressive scan DVD player, it will look even more amazing. Nonetheless, my PS2 games also never looked better. I am sure Xbox will do even better since it is HD capable. Regrettably, I don't have an HD source, so I can't comment on the PQ. But, based on what I have seen in the store, it shouldn't be short of breathtaking.
The only problem with this set is the red color. It appears that red looks a little bit fuzzy esp. for SD source. I tried to adjust the Tint, and it helped a little. But still, red is not as good as I hope it'd be. If other folks have the same set, I'd like to know your settings. Mine are (tint, color, picture, bright, detail) as follows: -8, -10, +10, +4, +10. Overall, if I were to rate this unit, I'd give it a solid 4 star. It needs some tweakings, but excellent bang/$ value.
JVC is greatexcellent multiple view screens

Thinking Plasma?Anyway, back to Fujitsu. The 4209 is a fairly good screen, although the technology is 2-3 years old. And they are literally screens since they don't have a built in tuner or audio. You need to supply an external tuner (cable or satellite box) and a home theatre system to get this up and running. Something to consider.
For those needing the tuner and audio, the PDS4229 is a better choice. The 4209 is more of a corporate/trade show type monitor rather than a consumer home theatre monitor. Also, while the 4209 is hdtv compatible, they don't have the 3:2 rollup feature, as in other later models, to down convert from 16:9 to the current 4:3 screen aspect ratio. Another consideration point.
Plasma screens can also have some setup work to properly distinguish the input source (dvd, sat, vcr, cable, pc) and display the proper color settings. The majority of the time, the setup is automatic though.
Finally, mostly all plasma screens have problems generating "a good black" color like for night time or space movie background scenes. Instead, of displaying black, the plasma screens display more of a dark, dark, gray due to the plasma gas still being electrically charged. Because of the constant charging of the plasma cells, the lifetime of the TV is estimated at 20,000-25,000 hours (at this point 50% of the plasma has been discharged). If this bothers you, you might want to stick with direct view or projection.
In conclusion, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Plasma can offer one of the best, brightest pictures around, but there are some drawbacks as with anything. And with anything in technology, the prices can only go lower over time.

A great new experience in Plasma TV's(Family presentations of downloaded pictures on a 42" screen). Plus it was allot better than the "Sampo" made TV's that GATEWAY.com is offering, plus I don't have to wait 3 months for mine. For the peace of mind of the Fujitsu name brand, and picture quality, I realy am happy with my new TV.

Mediocre at best. But, for the price, the TV offers a good set of inputs and decent sound. Also, the other features like PIP, on/off timers, audio out, etc make this a good buy for the money. But if you're a stickler for a good picture, spend more and get a Sony.
Great TV
It isn't flat, but it is worth every penny !
- Real Flat CRT with INVAR Shadow Mask provides a great picture
- Component, S-video inputs
- 2 speakers (2.5 watts) ensures good sound
- Parental control with V-chip

Nice TV....but that awful smell !!This TV smells terrible!
I have been patient for six months waiting for the smell to fade, but it just keeps on producing that foul odor just as it did the day I bought it.
I will be getting rid of this TV ASAP because of it.
Apart from the stink, the TV is perfect.
Great set.
TV NUT
1) There are only 3 inputs on the back, which meant my VCR had to be connected to the front inputs when i had satellite (running a wire in front of my system looks unprofessional).
2) The writing on the front of the TV (for the front controls) is very hard to read unless you bend down and look closely. Basically, i say stick to the remote.
3) The audio programming for the remote control is too limited to control any but the most basic receiver functions. I still have to use my Onkyo remote for my receiver.
4) The menu is a bit cumbersome (but at least you can watch TV while adjusting it, unlike my Sony VCR).
However, the great features far outweight any of these little issues:
1) This thing can really pump out loud and clear audio! I play DVDs like Terminator II, Predator, Speed, Buffy, Xena, and Star Trek on a regular basis. The sound is CD quality and i've never heard distortion. Using it with a receiver, it can even take the place of a center speaker.
2) When i play CDs, i can use the TV sound in addition to my room speakers. Gives the sound more body.
3) The dual PiP is supreme! I love how you can switch between the big and little pictures and even make the pictures the same size.
4) You can control your VCR, cable/satellite, and CD players with the remote (almost universal).
The only reason i would ever sell this TV is to move up to a digital/HDTV set. It handles all of my other TV needs as is.
