Product is nice when it works
Nice TV, great sound, great picture. Except that it doesn't always work -- the sound cuts in and out, and makes very loud popping sounds. And, Amazon.com does not provide any type of help, or exchanges on televisions this size. Their response to my request to an exchange was to contact JVC regarding their warranty service. Next time I'll by from a local company that will provide some SERVICE with their product.

Works great. Awesome sound!
I have had this TV about 3 months and have no complaints. The picture and sound are reall great. The picture can be adjusted a million differnt ways to perfect the look and feel of what you are watching.

    Can't see their faces!
I bought the Mitsubishi VS50707 Gold analog Projection TV last week on word of mouth on how good Mitsubishi TV's are.

Ouch! Should have went with a Magnavox. Cheaper and better in my opinion. Had one for 7 years and just sold it to get a new TV. The tubes were aging of course - but I thought it had a better picture than my new $2000.00 Mitsubishi! Sure, the overall picture is good. Close-up shots a great! But watching sporting events - one of the main reasons for getting a new TV now - long distance images were terrible! Can't make out Shaq's face! Football season is going to be a drag! Volume control from shows into commericals - look out! It's REALLY loud! Watching analog TV of course you'll see those lines. Wasn't as bad with my previous TV. Even with the tinted protection screen. Customer support on the problems - not good.

Going to try and sale it and get a Magnavox. Still got time before Football season starts!

    Exquisite and Exceptional Looking Image
In addition to having an exceptional picture this is an excellent Projection TV in the 4 by 3 aspect ratio. Bear in mind that term: 4 by 3. Don't pass this one up! Instead manufacturers are moving toward the 16 by 9 aspect ratio. For conventional (4 by 3) antenna, cable or satellite TV broadcasts and VHS playback this is the one of a handful of the best Projection sets available. Get them while they are still around, 4 by 3 aspect ratios that is. Many people going with the 16 by 9 sets are not happy because there are very few HD signals out there at least for the next 4 or 5 years the way things look. 4 by 3 is the way to go right now. People are complaining because when viewing a widescreen program on a 4 by 3 set you get black bars on the top and bottom. On 16 by 9 sets you get black bars on the left and right sides of the screen all the time unless you watch a wide screen program! That means that you are going to get black bars on the sides for over 90 percent of what you are going to be watching for the next 5 or 6 years. Apparently, the FCC, the major Broadcasting Networks and Cable companies still can't agree on how they are going to broadcast High Definition Television signals. And that decision does not look like it is gong to be made any time soon! Stay with the 4 by 3 aspect ratio like this Projection set has. You can't go wrong and you will be much happier. Many people are returning their 16 by 9 projection sets according to an area dealer because they can't stand the black bars on the right and left.

    Fabulous picture!
I compared this television to a similar priced Sony (which was 53") and chose to go with the slightly smaller 50" Mitsubishi because this gave a sharper and clearer picture. I have had this product for a little while now and I definitely recommend it!

    Overhyped
This product has its uses but I feel that the TV spots overhype its value. The moving (especially for heavy items) is not as effortless as I would have liked it to be. And you need to have some strength to lift every leg to insert the moving man.

Moving Men Work Well, But Do Not Defy Physics
The Moving Men TV commercials are a bit over-hyped, but the sliders do work very well. One must realize that all they do is reduce friction, making it easier to move large items. They do not make items less heavy and it will take some effort to insert them under heavy items. Even with Moving Men installed it will take more effort to move heavier items than lighter ones, but at least they do make it possible to move those heavy items.

I recommend the Moving Men and I intend to purchase additional sets.

    No more chiropractors.
Even someone over 50 with a bad back can easily rearrange a room full of heavy furniture with these glides. No need to empty the bookcase. Just tip slightly and insert the glides. You can move television and audio equipment while still in the armoire. Dust under the king sized bed. They work on carpeting and bare floors. I love this product.

Good for what it is, but could be better.
I bought this TV as a replacement for an RCA 36" HDTV that I had had some problems with.... While I don't have the same problems with this TV, I do have some other annoyances....

I have the RCA DTC100 hooked up through a VGA to component video adapter, and two problems appear:
    1. The TV always defaults to a 16:9 aspect ratio, even though the TV, picture source (satellite or local broadcast), and satellite box are 4:3. You can manually go into the menu and change this each time you turn the TV on, but it's a mess. Panasonic told me there is nothing they can do to make sure the TV senses the right aspect ratio or that it "remembers" the aspect ratio that you entered when you turn the TV on the next time.

I am thinking about buying a new HDTV box, but I'm not sure that would solve the problem. The output of the DTC100 is a 1080i output, which is inherently 16:9, from my understanding. Some of the other satellite boxes allow you to choose different outputs, such as 720P or 480P, but those should also be a 16:9 aspect ratio inherently as well - causing the TV to still default to the incorrect aspect ratio when watching standard definition TV. The other concern I have with the TV is that I changed the DTC100 to the 16:9 aspect ratio, but the result was a 16:9 within a 16:9 (the resultant picture filled out the width of the TV, but was only 1/4 the height...).

    2. The second problem I've had with the DTC100/Panasonic combo is that when viewing a HDTV picture that has a distinct line between a dark part of the picture and a bright part of the picture, such as a landscape/sky picture, the edges of the picture, right around the transition of the light/dark objects, starts waving around and shrinking from both sides of the TV edge by a couple of inches or more. The rest of the picture looks fine, and the center part of the lines that are shrinking looks fine - it's just that one part of the picture that has a problem.

I've made all the recommended adjustments, and nothing has any affect on this wavy edge. I have a service guy coming later this week to look at it, so I'll update this review if I have any luck.

I did a lot of research on these TV's before buying the Panasonic, so it's very frustrating that these minor problems exist. The picture is outstanding, most of the time, but there are times where the wavy lines get really bad, and you can't focus on the story line of what you are watching. And their service number is ridiculously slow - I waited over a month for them to research the issue #1 above, only to have them tell me I was SOL and it was my fault, not theirs...

    Great TV - Great Price
I did a lot of research before buying this TV, and concluded that this Panasonic is the best 36" HDTV monitor for the money. It has great picture quality, more than enough A/V inputs, and the cosmetics of the cabinet is great too!
I was a little disappointed to find out that they offer a better remote with another similar model, one that operates more devices, but I wouldn't pass this TV up for that minor issue.
I totally recommend this TV to anybody!

    Couldn't be better!!
After doing MONTHS of research, I went out and bought this unit.

    Here are my main impressions:

    1. The Picture quality is FANTASTIC. I have played both normal and progressive scan DVD players on this unit, as well as a XBOX, VCR, and Cable Box. The store "floor model" does not do this justice, you have to get it home and run through the "set-up screens". The only downside is if you are in a bright room (lots of windows, etc), as the brightness of the room will kill the picture. As most entertainment rooms are not bright this should not affect most people.

    2. The remote needs some work. It does not have "full" control over my Cable Box like it should. It is not able to access the on-screen guide (SA3000 Model). I was told that that HL42 (The one with the sub-woofer) model has a higher grade remote and controls the cable box. Why they did not include this remote in this model TV is just stupid. The remote is also not "feel" friendly. It takes ALOT getting used to certain buttons. That said, get a "all-in-one" like I am going to.

    3. As most channels are not in HD yet, don't expect to see that many. My cable company (COX) is coming out with HDTV in mid-Nov...so I should be able to see alot more. But, as the technology moves forward, I see almost ALL channels starting to have a HD option.

Closing....best buy for the money (and HD's are not cheap). But, this unit gives you all you need in a good home TV with HIGH QUALITY results!!

Great picture for DVD, but bad sound quality
This set has great picture quality for DVD (with S-Video input). Butthe sound quality is quite bad. Too much echo even with surround sound turned off. No adjustment will cure the problem. I can bearly hear the newscaster reading because of echo. I am not picky on audio nor trying to build a home theater system. But this problem is going to make me to return it.

    Bigger is not always better
I've had this television for almost 6 months now, and while I've enjoyed the large picture (the largest for a tube tv), I have one problem. There are horizontal lines of light and dark that scroll up the screen when watching DVD movies. I have used RCA cables, S-video, and a coaxial, and they all have the same problem. The problem is most obvious in the black bar areas above and below the picture in a widescreen movie. Panasonic boasts about the Panablack technology, but that is really the main drawback to this televsion. I don't know about the sound because I use home theatre sound, but the speakers are small to keep the set from being a monstrosity like the Sony Trinitron Wega. The other thing this set lacks is component video inputs. That would allow me to try one more option to get rid of those lines, but now that I've sunk over $1,000 into this set, I guess I can live with it.

    BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT
I spent weeks researching TVs and even cancelled my order for a Sony WEGA for this baby. And it was the best decision I ever made. The picture quality is unbeatable (unless you go to digital). The colors are rich and vibrant and the picture is so amazingly sharp that you can count Vanna White's eyelashes. And its so easy to use, even I could understand how to use the menus. You will NOT be disappointed.

    Semi-disappointed..
After researching all the tvs . I've noticed that the panasonic only came with 850 lines of horizontal resolution compared to toshiba's 1200.. I would have expected the panasonic to have better picture quality than the other as the price is higher.. but I'm not sure if that's the case... I don't have the toshiba next to me to compare.. but i do notice that when i watch regular cable on the tv, that it is noticabley not as sharp as I thought it would be...

Although it's hard to judge as in the stores they always play dvd quality images..

I am very impressed by the remote being able to handle my receiver and my DirectTV remote..

Good enough for the money spent
If you're expecting plasma quality, don't look here. I paid $... for this TV, which was a bargain. The quality isn't perfect, but I would have had to pay double for that. It certainly is a move up on my 11-year old 27" TV.

One caution, filtering your incoming analog signal can make all of the difference.....

    excellent TV for the buck
I can't list price, but I paid well below other brands in a similar size because I got it at a Thanksgiving special at circuit city. I am extremely pleased with it so far. Excellent picture (slight differences in brightness and quality when comparing side to side at the store, but are you going to do that at home?) providing outstanding picture on everything I've watched, DVDs and cable. This TV has it all for a great price: HDTV, progressive scan doubling, 3:2 pulldown, great virtual surround sound, built in protective screen, picture in picture and split screen, nice remote, etc. Sure it's not plasma quality, no projection TV is. But for your buck you can't go wrong with it. I'm still AMAZED!!! Only problem is that the 56" is slightly TOO big for my little apartment! Enjoy!

    Theoretically cool, technically not
I loved the 4-way integration of TV, DVD, VCR, and FM radio with audio outs to run speakers in another room. I wanted to remove the bedroom clutter of all these devices into one but the FM radio was AWFUL! Reception was horrible and the upper bands were a few MHz off, e.g., 107.3 on a normal radio tuned in at 106.9 and often faded (a teeny clock radio pulled in a stronger signal). TV-wise, it was good.

Wish I had it to do over...
Bought this tv/dvd/vcr thinking that I would have it all my tv/dvd/vcr all in one package, but when I tried to program one program while looking at another program on another channel, found out this was not possible.Found out this only has one tuner and to record one program and watch another at same time you needed two tuners, question is why didnt they tell me that when I purchased it. Now have to buy a VCR to hook up to the TV not too saving space idea................You can only tape the program you are looking at or turn it off and look at the tape later....Not to good, VCR only good to record when you are away or recording same station you are watching......not so hot...

    Goodbye clutter! Hello, simplicity!
Really like this TV/DVD/VCR--fills a real market niche. After years of cable, speaker wire, component clutter, I decided to try the all-in-one unit. (I was a little concerned after reading reviews of other Panasonic models--particularly about sound quality.) First, set up is simple--plug in the cable box, set to PBS, plug in TV and turn it on! The unit picks up the clock signal embedded in PBS and programs itself! Simple. Program remote to work with cable box--voila! One remote does everything--so long to "the pile." Picture quality and sound are top notch. Surround sound feature is cool. Sure, the picture is not HDTV nor the sound "home theater" component quality (although surprising good--easily the best I've ever heard using built in speakers). However, this is one nice television. Down side: no VCR+, FM radio internal antenna only (which provides spotty reception at my location). Good news: whisper quiet VCR operation, great recorded picture, the whole unit is SO EASY to use (and dust)! (Be warned--it's also a heavy unit.) Overall, sweet. Well worth the price and it works great in our small living room.

    Buggy and Broken
The one I got has a poor-quality DVD player; it keeps skipping and hanging on brand new out-of-the-box DVDs. Plus after a year the remote control sensor in the TV itself broke and had to be replaced - out of warranty, of course.

Other than that the picture is sharp and clear, the sound is excellent, the on-screen controls are excellent, and the remote control is well-laid out and easy to use. I'm just knocking it down 3 stars because of the remote control sensor problem and the mediocre integral DVD player.

    sound & picture UNBELIEVABLE!
bought item in the store after weeks of research on comboTV's. i feel this was the best bargain ever in comparison to what is currently on the market. i am waiting for the catch to reveal itself. there MUST be a catch because this tv is too good to be true. the speakers fully surround the tv & project great quality sound with DVD's, CD's & CD-R's. i have not used the VCR for movie watching yet, but the test revealed it works nicely, too. TV fite perfectly in entertainment center & the flat screen projects a picture that is too good to be true! this purchase was a dream come true. this is a BIG television so i recommend it for people that have entertainment centers & tons of CD's! no need to spend thousands of dollars when there is a product like this one on the market! pure sound, pure picture, pure perfection!

    My Third Panasonic TV/DVD/VCR!
I bought the PV-DFWhatever 27" two years ago and sold it when we moved--bought the PV-DF2703 last year (that was a major improvement--they shaved off 9-10" from the depth of the previous model (probably because of complaints that it wouldn't fit in entertainment centers unless they were away from the wall). Just bought the PV-DF2704 as a gift for my parents--and they love it! These are easy televisions to fall in love with--the quality is excellent, they're easy to set-up, you can run TV/DVD/VCR and most cable/DSS with the Panasonic remote. One plug in and one cable/DSS/antenna lead and you're all set--no need to run wires and speakers and stuff if you don't want to. The sound quality is far superior to ALL the other televisions I looked at (I think manufacturers assume everyone's just going to hook up a home theater system anyway.) Great product for technophobes and anyone that hates tangles of wires. Be forewarned--it's heavy and the dimensions are somewhat outsized because of the speakers to either side of the screen. If you have a 27" inch entertainment center it may not fit. I like it and my family likes it! A real value!

great picture, but broken comes out of the box. only hdmi works, the rest of videos and components do not work. tv is going back to Panasonic for service.

Great TV, and I wish there were more HDTV channels
After researching and looking at plasma, lcd, lcd projection tv's for couple of months, I finally bought this TV from amazon.com. Had it for couple of weeks now, and am amazed at the quality of the display. Got HDTV from comcast cable and the HDTV channels look and sound great. Of course I wish there were more HDTV channels. I recommend using the Monster DVI-HDMI cable. This TV has a HDMI port. I also recommend Samsung DVD player HD-931 that generates HD outputs via DVI for your DVDs. The resultant image quality is excellent, even though it is not "TRUE HD".

Incredible picture with a much-improved remote.
After a large amount of research, we finally bought this tv and are very happy about it. We don't yet actually have HD but the picture is still great...I can't imagine what it'll be like with HD.

The only problem on the previous model was that the remote was cheap-looking and made badly. This remote looks very nice, with a metal cover and many nice features.

Of course, the signal on regular tv is not top-notch, but that is true on every tv.

Warning two thirds of the world tapes will not play on this
The world is divided in regions and the tape manufacturers only produce tapes for that region. A tape available from amazon.uk.co can only play on recorders of type PAL. Other world locations use SECAM. Only the US and Canada uses NTSC format. If you buy "Dead Man's Folly" from the United Kingdom, you can not play it on this VCR. Place VCR and pal in the search box and press "go!"

So far the Samsung SV-5000w VCR is the only one on the list you can also place the ASIN number in the search box B00004TEUK

Samsung SV-5000w also plays the NTSC

    Big and Vibrant
The screen definition is excellent, providing large screen quality with VCR built in capabilities

    Great Picture
This is a great TV set 25 inches and all. The picture is very good and the VCR section just makes it all the much better. The VCR performs very well for a TV-combination unit. It's just as good as if you patched in a separate VCR. Outstanding!
