KOSS
DON'T BUY IT! I bought a KOSS DVD player and it broke in 6 months. I was told I was out of luck because the warranty is only 90 days. They do not do repairs. My only option is to buy a new one and wasn't even offered a discounted price for it. I have seen several complaints like mine about KOSS on the web. They make JUNK and they make it to last just to get past the warranty period and then it breaks. Oh, by the way I loved it until it broke.

two months down and broken
We've had this machine two months....yesterday, it stopped showing a picture, but still plays sound. I suppose we can use it for a stereo.

Also....the remote control is pretty unresponsive. Seems to take a long time to get the message. All in all...a pretty crappy machine.

Luckily, still under warranty.

Happy Ho Ho to me
So I get this DVD player for Xmas from my parents to make up for my VCR that died recently. I had never heard of "Koss" before. I had never touched a DVD before. So my wife and I pondered the cryptic setup instructions which did not match the machine at all and finally got it set up. No remote. We found it - hidden in a small crevice in the styrofoam. How disorganized. So we just got it. So far so good. It still works. After -- one week. But it's a new year. Wish us luck! And thanks for the crummy reviews. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

piece of junk
I have one of these lifeview tuners. I bought it because I travel quite extensively and wanted to watch TV occasionally while I worked. I have never been able to tune in to any television station with it. Even in areas with excellent television broadcast power. the picture is always full of static and the device is basicly useless.

Buyer Beware
If you want to buy a product that offers good customer service, then move on to another product. Every e-mail I've sent to Lifeview goes unanswered. The only response I've ever received is the confirmation when I placed my order online. The product and/or the driver is buggy, even the latest download from their website. For reference, I use Win 98 SE. The video locks up fairly regularly on my computer, and I have to shut down LifeView and restart it. About the 3rd restart will give you a BlueScreen error. And the kicker - if you capture video, it saves it as a huge AVI file, which almost every video-edit utility I've downloaded doesn't support their AVI format. I've tried all of their available formats & sample rates with the same results. This unit may be fine if all you want to do is tune in the occasional ballgame if it doesn't lock up on you. ...But being a computer professional, I feel I've tried everything reasonable to remedy these problems, and ended wasting a lot of time doing so.

Portable tv tuner
first it's picture quality is good. Also it has power backup from ps2 port.Easy to install software and hardware. But the antenna isn't powerful.

    No cigar
If it weren't for the interference bars and static noise, this device would be great. However, it just doesn't work. I have no 2.4GhZ devices, but there are presumably so many around that unless you live far in the country the signal will be garbled. Nice try. Now, where did I put that invoice to return this???

    disappointment!
Major interference from 2.4 gig phone. Even when the phone was unplugged the signal was still unacceptable. Looks like we will have to run a cable after all.

Major interference with 2.4ghz phone and wireless network
I rolled the dice with this product, as I knew going in that it may or may not work in my environment. Bottom line, it did work, but could not get acceptable audio and video because of severe noise bars from my 2.4ghz phone and wireless network. I am using the remote extender at least. Check the return policy from whoever you buy from, in case you wish to return it.

    anything but "EZ" audio
Despite following the tutorial and walk through and reading the skimpy little "manual" countless times I simply cannot get this program to do anything!!! I have all the cabling and connections needed it just will not record, much less clean up anything. Total frustration and waste of money. I'd give it no stars if possible.

    Not-So-EZAudio
While the software appears to be pretty good, the cable is completely wrong. The available jacks on it are not compatible with my new computer or my old one. In fact, I can't remember ever having RCA jacks on any of my computers. Since I bought this mostly becuase it promised to have the correct cable, obviously I was very dissapointed. I will have to find the correct cable on my own elsewhere.

    Accuracy in reviewing
    I don't own this product.

However, I do find it odd that a ONE STAR rating is allowed to be given to the product for the customer's dissatisfaction with the shipping time. That is something that should be reported in the SELLER'S ratings.

Maybe ratings should be screened a little closer to prevent morons like this from erroneously rating products poorly.

    DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!!!!!
When we recieved our first one, it never worked straight out of the box. We exchanged it and the second tv worked for about 2 months and suddenly the audio went out....

    Dissapointed
The audio broke after 7 months of very kind occasional use. The only thing less reliable than this equipment was the Philips consumer relations department. I'll never purchase another Philips product again nor allow my workplace to purchase one unless they improve their warranty or reliability.

    Broken in FOUR DAYS
We had this item a total of 4 days. It ate 2 videos. Then wouldn't take any more videos. I am returning it. This is the second TV / VCR combination made by Phillips Magnavox that has broken in record time (with normal use). Very disappointed in their products and won't buy another item from this company.

    What happened to the sound?
I bought one of these for my kids for Christmas and the first time we plugged it in, the sound kept going out on the video - we had to keep turning the player on and off to recapture the sound. So I sent it back and bought one in the store (Best Buy) - a Phillips, also. The same thing is happening. All this trouble for what? I should have spent twenty or thirty dollars more and gotten something much more worthwhile.

    down with Philips
I just want to say that 2 and a half years ago I bought another Philips-Magnavox VCR (model VRX242AT) which broke down last month. I think 2 and a half years is just not enough. I will never buy Philips again.

    Cheap Price = Cheap Product
The old adage is true...you really do get what you pay for. After 5 short months the tape sensor went bad on this unit, trapping a cassette inside and rendering the device useless. Labor cost would be almost as much as I paid for this although the part is warranty. My advise is to spend a little more for a more reliable machine.

    A real nightmare
If you want to install/uninstall several times (even the uninstall is incomplete because pinnacle recommends download a regdelete.exe file from their site to complete the uninstall) and undergo repeated crashings and cryptic messages like "software problem, please restart windows" and "hardware problem" (which hardware). Then, if you get it working, deal with audio that doesnt sync up with the video and lost frames then this is the product for you. I did get it to work a couple of times and it captured my video then crashed 10 minutes into my editing it (it hasnt worked again since). I've since returned it for a refund. I had tried their Studio 400 product and it worked fine (except for audio problems at scene transitions)but this MP10 has been a nightmare.

IMPORTANT*** Don't believe me? Check out Pinnacle's own home page. All the problems are documented there in the MP10 forum. You have MSCE's and system administrators emailing Pinnacle with their problems stating that they are unable to get it to work.

The WORST Video Capture card EVER!
First off, I bought this cuz it said that it could make Video-Cds. So I thought I could play them on my DVD player. Wrong, its just a stupid pop-up menu, just stupid. The capture times are TERRIBLE! I left it capturing for 10 mintues and got 4 secs of captured video. The worst product ever. This product does TO MUCH! Remember simple is better.

    Not a good gift!
I just received one for this Xmas. The video it captured are so bad that you even don't want to look at them twice!Maybe it's not a good idea to use the parallel port for this kind of data transfer.

    Incompatible with Hi8mm tapes
I purchased this device so that I could use my 8mm camcorder tapes in the new VCR I purchased. When I tried to insert the 8mm tapes into the adapter, it became apparent that they did not fit. This was a disapointment.

    Good Luck!
My unit failed on the first use, right out of the box. I inserted a tape per the instructions which was followed by tape loading sounds, immediately followed by a tape chrunching noise followed by nonstop clicking. Given the precious nature of the tape, I gasped and after 30 seconds or so of these mechanical noises I then attempted to eject the tape. No luck. The tape was now stuck in the adapter and the only way to stop the clicking was to remove the battery. Given the difficulity of returning this product (due to my location) and also given that I was not about to return a device that refused to return my tape to me....I decided to risk the warranty and and perform open-adapter surgery myself. Warning, do not try this at home! It is rife with levers, springs and it all flys to pieces when removing the bottom cover. I am a mechanically inclined technician and therefore felt I had no choice. In the end (after about an hour of reverse engineerning, so that I now know how it works, enough to make the necessary repair), all is well and in fact I now use this adapter without problem. What was wrong??...as a previous rater stated..."it is a good idea", but is much to complex for what is needed. This complexity offers way too many failure points. Indeed, a poorly installed part is what caused my original problem. Again, good luck!

    What are they talking about?
I don't understand what these other people are talking about, because the one I used (actually it was a Panasonic, which might explain why mine worked and yours don't) worked perfectly fine.... That is until someone dropped it on the floor. I had to get a new one but oh well....

    Don't buy this tv/dvd!!
I bought this tv/dvd in August 2003 and never really could get the dvd player to work. I called Magnavox on December and the 90 day warranty was out so they would only pay for the part not labor to fix it. They sent 2 replacement parts which were both defective (and took 2 1/2 months to do), then placed all of those parts on hold while they looked into it for 2 months. Then the sent another part and said they check it and it worked. It was also defective! Magnavox has not been helpful at all!!! After 3 parts and 5 1/2 months of it being in the shop, they are going to take over 2 weeks to DECIDE if I can get a replacement tv...which I don't want...and they won't refund my money! I am now dealing with the store I bought it from to try to get my money back. If that doesn't work, my attorney said to take them to small claims court! What an ordeal for a $190 tv!!!! Never again will I own a Magnavox or Philips product!

    Careful with this one....
I have been extremely dissapointed with this Unit. I bought it for Christmas to use in our trailer, unboxed it and played the first DVD - everything worked fine so I put it back in the box. Middle of March took it out of the box in preparation for our first trip out in the trailer and it wouldn't play a DVD. I tried the disc cleaners, etc, nothing worked. I called Magnavox and they told me it only has a 90 day warranty on labor. I got 2 estimates to have the DVD fixed - over $100.00 for a TV/DVD that was used 1 time. It now is a 13" TV - won't play DVD's, CD's at all. I would not purchase this unit again.

Piss-poor DVD playback - unable to play discs after 4 weeks
This TV-DVD combo does not play DVD discs at all. We received it as a Christmas present and have been extremely disappointed with its performance as it only seems to be getting worse. Unfortunately this may be a problem with Magnavox, as a friend's earlier Magnavox DVD system had similar problems - "sticking" and "freezing" during playback. We have had a second DVD player for over a year, made by a different manufacturer (we won't mention any names, but it starts with an "T" and ends with "oshiba") and have had absolutely no problems with it - so it's not our discs.

We even visited the site and tried out Magnavox's "product troubleshooting list" for the item - (e.g. is the disc a DVD-R, is it a Disney movie, did we place it in the tray correctly). None of it helped, nor did a "disc cleaner" or cleaning discs with a soft cloth.

The system first began to act erratically approximately three weeks after we received it, when we found that it sometimes did not play discs all the way through, without "sticking" about 45-60 minutes into play. Then, it began to provide "Disc Errors" when playing some, but not all discs. Usually the problem subsided if we turned off the machine, reinserted the disc (making sure it was clean of any dust), and then attempted to play again.

Currently however, it will not play ANY discs, only four months after we received this as a gift. We have tried consecutively, five different CDs of different types - none of them MP3 CDs, none of them DVD-Rs or special Disney movies. All of them simply zip around and around in the DVD, with the final result being a "Disc Error", suggesting that the disc may not work in playback. Of course, all of these discs work fine in our other DVD player.

      Very Cheap Piece of Equipment
This VCR is the worst I have owned. Although it has front and rear A/V inputs and rear A/V outputs (which is why I bought it), it plays and records some older tapes (1-2 years old) terribly. Store-bought releases play OK. With some of my older tapes recorded on VCRs I no longer own, the playback of some previously recorded and newly recorded older tapes is jittery and sometimes the entire screen starts "flipping" rendering any positive viewing experience impossible.

These same tapes will play perfectly on my 10 year old basic model Magnavox VCR.

This I believe is because of very cheap and poorly designed electronics and mechanism within the Sylvania. Very cheap all-plastic case, basically a tub with a top on it. Am not at all happy with it.

      piece of junk
When my old VCR gave up the ghost after several fruitful years, I replaced it with the Sylvania because I didn't want to spend a lot of money with DVD coming in strong. I moved to a new, smaller apt. and gave away all my tapes. I had a couple blank tapes if there was anything crucial I would want. My son needed some Animal Planet stuff (not on his cable company). I taped the first few shows OK, although there was no visible running tape counter. Then when I clicked on again to tape a show he wanted (he's a zookeeper) the screen suddenly said, English or Spanish. I thought I clicked on "English", but Spanish came up. Now all screen choices are in Spanish, but I can't get out of the loop for regular recording. I could get a picture, and the red recording light would go on, but it wasn't recording anything. And a tape I had with a program on it, it would not play back. I am stuck with thie piece of junk.

      Cheap, but it works
Hey, Ive had other products from this company (Funai) and had one VCR go out within 90 days and Funai exchanged it for another one. Sure I had to call and wait to speak to someone, but whose customer service lines in electronics dont you have to wait for!!!

This vcr I got at another retailer and it has been good. I dont expect much for $50.00 bucks.
