Until this player is fixed, STAY AWAY!This player looks good, plays well, an is in general well designed, but has one major problem. About 75 minutes through a movie the player will either reset, or pause without any means to restart other than start the movie over. This problem is with my player and my friends player (as well as the other reviews). It has been in the shop twice for months with no improvements. I have heard that it may be a software problem, but I see no recall from Pioneer. For now, stay away!
Same problem here...I have one too, with the same problem...
It resets randomly, but not often. About 1 time in 3 DVDs played.
If somebody can help, please do.
It resets randomly, but not often. About 1 time in 3 DVDs played.

Would be a good player except...After about 1.5 hours of playback, the player will suddenly reset. It will then give you 30 minutes or so more, but will eventually reset again. We took it back and exchanged it for another unit (same model), and the new one has the same problem. We thought maybe it was heat related, but we've now got the player set up in a very open space so that heat really shouldn't be an issue, and the problem still occurs.
I've looked around to see if anyone else has had this issue, but there are very few reviews out there for this model. Has anyone else seen this problem? And if so, does anyone know if Pioneer has put out a fix for it?
Other than the reset issue, this is a perfectly decent player. Picture and sound is good, the remote is easy to use, and the GUI is pretty good.

Sylvania DVD/VCROh my, this product is a disaster, don't even think of buying this, just over a month when i got it, it already ate one of my tapes, i had to clean the VHS head, then after a couple of months the remote control doesn't work, i changed the batteries twice to make sure, i even got new ones but nothing, to think that i've been using it only for 4 months, i got fed up & just returned it from where i bought it. I guess Sylvania is a good company it's just that they're not so good on DVD players, oh well..... :(
All sylvania products are piece of junk.Look at other reviews for Sylvania products. I had to break open
the DVD player to return the rented DVD.

Works great for the costI bought mine on sale for I think 75 dollars when they were running around 150. Mine works great. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to open the DVD player, but it always opens for me. I've never had my VCR eat a tape either. The great thing is that it plays MP3 songs too!<br />
<br />
Occasionally I will have a skip in a DVD or song, but I just take the disk out, put it back in, and everything is back to normal.

Do Not Buy This ProductI bought this on Jan. 9, returned it Jan. 10 because every tape played in the vcr rolled. Foolishly exchanged it for another just like it. Finally got around to trying a dvd in the dvd player, and the disk door won't even open to put the dvd in! I'm returning it (again!), and getting a different manufacturer. I've been avoiding buying a dvd player because I've heard they are worthless, and now I know they really are! (At least Daewoo is....) I'm only getting one because it's getting so hard to find new releases on vhs.
Not worth a plug nickel....let alone the price. This is actually the second one I've had as the first stopped working within thirty days. I assumed it was a fluke and like a fool exchanged it for a new one instead of getting my money back. Within six months this one has stopped reading discs. The VCR is still working at the moment but if all I wanted was a VCR I could've bought one for half the price of this unit.
i own iti purchased this product about a year ago and have found it to very good. it responds quickly and provides great clarity. The VCR is a six head vcr and it shows like i had expected, great. Overall, very nice product and would purchase a daewoo product again.

Wouldn't installThe title of my review says it all. Bought this & tried on a new Dell laptop. The installation of the driver failed with no real help in diagnosing the problem. Their tech support was pretty clueless (and no 800 number). The only thing they did was to suggest updating this, then retry the install, update that, then retry again. And again, and again. For all I know the box I received was defective but all they wanted me to do was to retry the install.
Looks nice but...The package and case for the device looked real nice. I tried to set everything up and it appeared to be ok except for a slight delay in audio between what I heard on the tv and what I heard on my laptop. However, after watching a recording that lasted longer than 15 minutes I noticed the audio was out of sync. I could not uderstand why, my machine more than excedes the minimum requirements. It seems to be a common problem with similar devices.

No stereo!I can't understand how they can call this Hi-8 without a stereo output. Even if the picture is a good as Hi-8, sound is important too! The S-video connector is not compatable with the connector on my capture card. I'm sending mine back!
Hitachi has taken a step backwards! This unit is barely featured enough to call it a hi8 camcorder. I remember when Hitachi was considered a high end manufacturer but this tells me they want to waller with the Samsungs, Daewoo and other low-end quality companies. The best low dollar hi8 comes from Canon with many features. Hitachi needs to step up to where they were and let the others be.

definitely not worth the moneyfirst of all this thing is huge. i thought it was going to be the size of a pencil but instead it's the size of small flashlight. the picture quality is hardly impressive. there are too may jpeg artifacts and the bundled software has many flaws. i bought the ultraport camera II because of it's integration feature but the cost to performance ratio makes the ultraport camera II hardly worth the money.
too expensiveThe size is right, but the price is far from right. I would suggest
you turn to Logitech for a better and cheaper solution unless you
stress the integration of the system beyond functionality.

Second machine going back today.......The other reviews reflect exactly what I have experienced with two of these units. Poorly and cheaply designed, there are problems with remote control lag, skipping, customer service (their "White Glove" customer service person was of no help at all), and other problems you can see in the other reviews. Costco is getting them both back and I am done with GoVideo. I wouldn't buy any of their products after seeing what they did with this unit. Can you say, "CHEAP"??? There must be a truckload of these things at Costco going back to GoVideo. A friend of mine bought one as well, and his has already gone back for the same problems, so this can't be just a few units. Very disappointed. Avoid this machine.
The DVD recorder that disappoints...I had high expectations for this recorder. Archive my family VHS tapes and share with family and friends. I recorded my first tape 8 times using three diffrent mfg. media - none would play in any other DVD player. I returned it back to QVC today and got a refund. Don't consider this unit...
An Exercise in FrustrationI bought the recorder at Costco, and began experiencing problems as soon as I started using it. The setup was easy, the picture quality was fine, and the controls for navigating the DVD were great. Too bad it wasn't enough to make up for all the problems.
As one reviewer noted with his unit, one of my first recordings skipped about 10 minutes whenever I played it, although you can see that the 10 minutes had recorded when you rewind.
The unit is also a problem if you use a TIVO Series 2 standalone unit. The recorder responds to the TIVO remote. After many hours of experimenting to identify the problem, I discovered that, if I pushed virtually any button on my TIVO remote 3 times (e.g, fast forward), the recorder reads it, and will pause if it's recording, and will start recording if it's in pause. I tried a universal remote instead, and fortunately the DVD recorder did not respond to that remote. The universal remote does not have certain functions that the TIVO remote has, so I had to keep switching between the TIVO remote and universal remote.
The recorder also tells you only what percent of your free space is left, not the minutes left, so you have to add up the minutes of all the recordings you have already made to find out if you have room to squeeze in the next recording you want to make.
When I ran out of room, the recorder froze on me, then refused to see the disc anymore.
The recorder also skimps on useful features, which would have been acceptable if not for the functional flaws and unreliability.
As noted above, it will not tell you how many minutes you have left on the disk. Unlike many other DVD recorders, you can't insert your own personalized titles or delete bad recordings from +R disks. Hitting the DISPLAY button does not display anything on the screen while you are recording, like how much time you have left on the disk.
The remote buttons are ridiculously small, and are not bunched intuitively (e.g., the tiny record button is several buttons away from the tiny pause button, so cutting out commercials requires much fumbling), and it is very difficult to use the remote in bad lighting. Inexplicably, Go Video decided not to bunch together and emphasize the buttons required to record.
The troubleshooting in the user manual is for very basic problems only (e.g., did you put in the disk upside down), and the Go Video website has no troubleshooting information beyond that.
All-in-all, not worth the money.

Micro-Innovations is a poor productThis camera works ok in windows 2000 but does not work at all with XP. I feel ripped off and will never buy a Micro Innovations product ever again.
product does not work with Windows XPAnother lousy camera. Does not work with XP. Read a similar review, posted by someone else for the camera IC100C by the same company.
The product box is misleading, says its compatible with XP, but the user manual inside does not include XP in the list of compatible OS. The installation software does not work with Windows XP.
The customer service is also very poor. I called 2 times, each time I was asked to leave a message. No one called me back. I returned the camera, I had bought it from Office Max. I think I will go with a Logitech product.

Looks nice, but doesn't work well.I had the unfortunate chance to use this camera whilst staying with a friend. The quality is poor, grainy, and though it tracks well, the picture is inconsistant. The software may as well have been written by a five year old for all the good it works with XP. I liked the look, but even with all the lights turned directly in your face the picture quality is poor at best. Spend your money on something better, this product is definately a waste of hard earned cash.

Movie Star Obsolete No Tech Support No DVD burningI was so thrilled to convert by VHS tapes to DVD until I discovered that even my 80 gig hard drive was not enough for a 20 minute video AND once I had the AVI video and tried to burn the DVD the software said I had to go to dazzle.com to PURCHASE a $100 upgrade. The hardware and bundle only cost $40! There is no tech support effective 10/24/03 for any Dazzle DVC 80 Movie Star v. 5. Therefore, you use up your hard drive and can't off load it anyway. What a waste! You have to delete the capture that took you 5 hours to produce. LOSER!
Movie Star 5 is junkI've had nothing but trouble with this product. The XP version is very buggy and virtually unusable. Even with the latest patches, the software simply does not function. I cannot recommend this product to anyone.
easy to useI like this software because it was easy to use. There is interactive help for it available online. There are a few issues with it,however. The titling and Intro screens are clunky and not good quality. The voice over requires a recording program, which I found online called Goldwave, which is EXCELLENT! The MPEG2 recording would not play on all CD readers and the write to CD function didn't work on my machine. For the money it's not bad, there aren't alot of choices out there for this kind of software at the consumer level.

AVOID THIS PRODUCT!This is the worst webcam ever. If you really hate someone and you need to buy a gift for them, then buy this cam, because it will provide hours and hours of torture to anyone who tries to install it (WARNING: This cam can potentially terminate friendships, cause severe headache and anger fits, as well as put you at risk of attempting suicide). First thing you have to figure out when you buy this cam is that the drivers shipped with it are bad. So you have to go to the website and download "updated" drivers. Which I suspect are obviously designed to be some type of advanced torture device. The first drivers didn't work at all (which was frustrating enough), the "new" drivers seem to do just about the same thing. Except with the "new" driver you might actually get it working, as we were able to. However, once the cam did "work" it didn't do a very good job of it. There was a lot of skipping around, the color was horrible, and broadcasting the cam image over the web was a joke. You are apparently supposed to be able to take picture with this thing too. Well, as of yet, this does not seem to work. And support is horrible. Go to their website and it seems as though this company tries very hard to make sure you can't figure out how to contact them. Oh sure they have a fill in form for support, and there is some "Frequently Asked Questions", but none of it will help you. If you are into hours and hours of torment, buy this cam. I'm sure that by the time you are through, you will need anger management, and the cam will end up in your trash can. In short, it's JABONEY.
be careful...bad supportI just bought this product and having a nightmare in installing it right. The software that comes with the product does not work with XP. The tech support is non existent...the web site gives some guidelines, but it is of no help. I am waiting for a day more before I send it back.
Bad!!!This web cam makes annoying chirpy sound when in use, my wife hates it. Thats not all the drivers provided for this don't work for reinstall, I gave up after I accidentally installed chinese version of the software and then I couldn't install the English version of it (it did install, but never worked). I'm using it only as a web cam now, the rest of the features I've trashed.
