Superior to Dazzle DV Bridge
I own a ADVC-100, which is a similar product to the ADVC-50 but with more features. The quality of captured analog video with the ADVC is better than another popular analog capture product, the Hollywood DV Bridge. I own one of these as well, so I speak from experience. The latter is adequate, but just adequate for importing analog video to Adobe Premiere. The ADVC does so much better, with audio locked to video so that the two don't lose synchronization over the course of long captures (which sometimes happens with my DV Bridge). In addition, the ADVC box is simple and cable connections are snug and preserve the integrity of the connection. My DV Bridge, on the other hand, has a cool looking (arguably) but less functional design. It falls over when cables are plugged into it, and the S-video cable fits only loosely unless I wrap scotch tape around the unit and the S-video plug. The ADVC also has an on/off switch whereas the DV Bridge does not. The latter's power supply must be plugged and unplugged from the power supply with each use. If you're looking for a product for capturing analog video, I have no hesitation about recommending the ADVC ... and especially to those considering the DV Bridge. The ADVC is superior in every way, and considerably less expensive. For a few more features than available on the ADVC-50, you might also want to consider the ADVC-100. I'm happy with mine.

The Best Way to Wrap Cables
Having been a trade show manager for a large electronics company, I saw that the technicians always wrapped their cables in a circle and tied them with velcro straps like above. Get some.

Organization made easy
This is the perfect product if you are into DVD movie collection. What I have done is this, seperated my movies by actor/genre. All my disney movies go into one, action into another, horror into yet another, Mel Gibson into one, Sean Connery into another, and so on. The possibilities are endless. This coupled with its big brother (aka the 20 disc holder) also save tremendous amounts of space. Just put the movie cover into the slot on the front of a page, the movie in the back, then throw the jewel case away. Very simple. This case also protects the disc from scratching and dust, but it is also very presentable and will look distinguished on even the fanciest of entertainment centers. Plus, your movies are now very ready for travel. Enjoy!

Attractive and practical
This stand is very good looking and well made. It is just the right size and height for a Crosley turntable. The wood color matches the turntable case perfectly. The stand provides plenty of space for LPs, cassettes and CDs.

    absolutely fabulous!
Back when my first dog lost her hearing, I finally realized she wouldn't be around forever. She was otherwise healthy, but deaf, so I bought a camcorder. This was before digital camcorders existed and I shot a lot of film of her playing, eating and just hanging out.

Tape is a volitile media - it's basically rusting from the minute it is manufactured, and I wanted to be able to enjoy the film of her forever and not find that the tape had degraded over time.

Now that I have a Mac that can burn DVDs, I needed some way to get the analog video into my Mac. This Hollywood DV-bridge is freakin' awesome!

My Mac at work has the DVD writer, but at home I have an older Mac - a G4/400, but with the DV-bridge, I was able to connect my analog video recorder to my Mac and import the video to iMovie to do edits.

I made the edits and burned the resluting video to a CD and took it to work one weekend and did the fancy editing and burning with iDVD.

I had bought another product that was cheaper, the XLR8 InterView USB, and it was awful. I couldn't import the video real-time, so I got slide-show video and choppy audio.

The Hollywood DV-bridge is just like having a digital camcorder.

I have friends who have even older tapes from the older style camcorders using full size VHS and I can now help them move their precious memories to DVD.

It's not cheap, but you sure get what you pay for!

    Quality and performance at $300!
This is a great A/V receiver. In fact I would say the entry level Denon is equal or better than some other higher priced A/V receivers in excess of $1500.

My wife who is not an "audiophile" heard the difference between this reciever and our 5 year old Yamaha, in the next room, after I had it all connected. That is a testament to its overall fidelity.

I would have purchased a model upward, if I knew my brother would be giving me his Magnapans (4 ohms), as the 484 does not have a 4 ohm output, but with that said it appears to drive my MMG's perfectly.

Other brands I used: Yamaha in the early 80's (stereo) Harmon / Kardon (mid 80's) JVC (Pro-logic) late 80's to mid 90's, Yamaha
    mid 90's to 2002. (Dolby D).

    Awesome Amp
I purchased this a/v receiver last December and I've been very pleased with it. The sound it delivers to my Energy Take 5.2 speaker system is phenomenal. The set-up was easy and intuitive. The 'Zone Two' function allows me to run a whole house audio system from this amp as well as 5.1 audio in my t.v. room. My only complaint is that the remote could be a little better designed.

    Top of the line
If you love your music, there is just no better way to go. Denon is the Mercedes of Amps/Receivers. The quality design along with "Discrete Sound" type of functionality make this the best receiver money can buy. I have this hooked up to all my equipment and a full compliment of Infinity speakers (including woofer). It makes watching Matrix or Top Gun like nothing you have ever experienced before.

Beware, your neighbors may get jealous when they hear what this thing can do.
